Assuming the eufy doorbell is offline, you must enter the app settings, select your device, and connect the unit to the Wi-Fi.
Here’s how to connect eufy doorbell to Wi-Fi correctly:
- First, open the eufy Security app on the mobile.
- Go to the “Settings” and enter the “General” tab.
- Advance by selecting the “Wi-Fi Connection” tile.
- Select the corresponding doorbell for connection.
- Next, choose “Wi-Fi Setup” and select the Wi-Fi.
- Finally, input the password to connect the device.
That’s it. Your eufy doorbell should now connect to your Wi-Fi only if the network is accessible, so if your connection attempt fails, you must continue troubleshooting.
So, keep reading ahead.
2. Soft Reset your Wireless Router
If your eufy doorbell is not connecting to the Wi-Fi, this typically indicates a problem with the wireless network.
So, one of the initial steps in troubleshooting must be power cycling the wireless router, which refreshes the network and will most likely solve most of your problems.
Here’s how to power cycle a wireless router in easy steps:
- First, press the Power button on the router’s back.
- When all lights go off, unplug the power adapter.
- Wait at least 60 seconds for a power circulation.
- Press the Power button again to turn on the router.
After the power cycle, we recommend waiting at least 3 minutes for your networking services to go online.
Then, using the steps from the previous method, attempt to connect the eufy doorbell.
Hot Tip: Test whether your Wi-Fi is accessible using your smartphone or any secondary device besides your eufy doorbell.
3. Restart eufy Doorbell from the App
Note: This method only works on hardwired eufy Doorbells, and the restart option is unavailable for the battery-operated units.
A quick solution when the eufy doorbell is not connecting to the Wi-Fi is to reboot the unit from the eufy Security app.
This method addresses issues with the doorbell system, which may prevent the eufy doorbell from connecting.
Such a simple robot won’t erase anything from the doorbell but may help you solve the Wi-Fi problem, so here are the instructions:
- Open the eufy Security app on your mobile.
- Advance by going to the “Settings” section.
- Scroll to the bottom to find “Restart Device.”
- Lastly, tap the option and wait for the reboot.
When your eufy doorbell is rebooted, it’s time to retry to connect to your Wi-Fi.
If you connect, the problem is temporary and related to a system bug.
If you still can’t connect, there are likely wireless interference issues or problems related to the firmware, so continue reading.
4. Connect to your 2.4 GHz Network Thread
If you have a hardwired eufy doorbell, you should know that these devices are only compatible with your network router’s 2.4 GHz network thread.
You can connect to your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless frequencies if you have a battery-operated doorbell.
However, regardless of the type of your eufy doorbell, we recommend switching to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, guaranteeing a stronger wireless signal and a robust connection at all times.
The primary difference between both Wi-Fi frequencies is the internet speed, where the 2.4 GHz is much slower but travels further.
The 5 GHz Wi-Fi network is often interfered with by other devices and can hardly travel through more than 1 wall, which could be why your eufy doorbell is not connecting.
Note: Only dual-band routers support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi; typically, the SSID contains the frequency for easier recognition.
5. Switch the Wireless Network Channel
According to some eufy users, eufy doorbell won’t connect to WiFi because of their operating channel.
We mean the Wi-Fi Channel, which is manageable through your router settings.
Some users suggested that they solved the issue by switching the Wi-Fi channel of their 2.4 GHz network to “1”.
So, we’ve prepared complete instructions on how to switch the channel:
- First, sit on a PC or laptop connected to the router.
- Open a web browser and go to “https://192.168.1.1/”
- Then, try signing in using “admin/admin” as details.
- Info: The login info is on your router’s bottom sticker.
- Go to “Wireless” or “Advanced Wireless” settings.
- You will need to find the “Wireless Channel” options.
- You must switch the channel for your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- There is a drop-down menu, so switch to Channel “1”.
You don’t need to restart your router when switching the channel of your wireless network.
It’s enough to return to the dashboard and re-attempt connecting your eufy doorbell to the Wi-Fi.
Important: – Smart Connect Option
Some wireless routers have a “Smart Connect” option, which combines both Wi-Fi frequencies into one single thread and can prevent connecting devices.
We strongly recommend turning off the option and rebooting your router to check whether the eufy doorbell will be able to connect.
Note: The smart connect feature may go under a different name on different router brands!
6. Reinstall the eufy Security Application
It’s not excluded that your eufy Security app is causing all this fuss and preventing the doorbell from connecting to the Wi-Fi.
One of the most effective solutions would be removing and installing the eufy Security app on the device, eliminating all software issues such as bugs/glitches.
To reinstall the app, it’s enough to hold the icon from the main screen and select “Remove this App” (iOS) or drag it to the “Trash Bin” on Android.
Then, you must open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), tap on your profile picture, locate the app, and reinstall it completely.
Info: The clean reinstallation will sign you out from your eufy account but will clear any issues with the software and guarantee that you’re using the latest version.
7. Try Connecting to the Mobile Hotspot
If your eufy doorbell is still not connecting to the Wi-Fi, it’s not excluded that the reason is due to your Wi-Fi, even if you’re able to connect with other devices.
To tighten the circle of possibilities, we recommend sharing a Personal Hotspot from the mobile and trying to connect the doorbell.
So, grab your smartphone and share a Wi-Fi network to test if your eufy doorbell will connect…
How to Share Hotspot from Android?
- First, go to Settings → Wireless & networks.
- Then, tap on “Tethering & portable hotspot.”
- Next, select the “Portable Wi-Fi hotspot” tab.
- Choose “Configure Wi-Fi hotspot” to continue.
- Set a name, security settings, and password.
- Tap Save to enable the hotspot from the phone.
How to Share Hotspot from Apple iOS?
- First, go to the Settings and “Mobile Data.”
- Tap Personal Hotspot and set a password.
- Tap on “Allow Others to Join” to enable it.
When you’re ready and sharing a personal hotspot, use the steps we’ve discussed earlier in the guide to connect your eufy doorbell to the Wi-Fi.
If you can connect to your hotspot but not to your router’s Wi-Fi, you’re facing issues with the network. Continue reading to learn how to address networking issues.
8. Troubleshoot your Wireless Network
If you’ve followed all the steps so far, but your eufy doorbell is still not connecting to the router’s Wi-Fi, it’s time to troubleshoot.
We have prepared a few tips and solutions to implement in your setup to guarantee reachability and signal strength.
Here’s how to troubleshoot your wireless network in easy steps:
- Move your router to a higher location.
- Straighten up your router’s antennas.
- Unpair unused devices from the Wi-Fi.
- Turn off all electronics near the router.
The most crucial factor is the distance between your router and the eufy doorbell.
If you can move your router closer, we can recommend this.
You can quickly test whether the distance is the actual culprit by connecting a secondary device to the Wi-Fi from the spot of your doorbell.
Quick Recap
When Eufy doorbell is not connecting to WiFi, you must soft-reset the router and doorbell, verify that you use the 2.4 GHz thread, and set the Wi-Fi channel to “1”.
