However, it can also mean giving your device the capability to do so; and you can do so by making sure that you have a data plan.

How to Enable Personal Hotspot Verizon on Android
Here are the steps on how you can turn on or activate personal hotspot on an Android device.
Step 1: Go to Settings
You will be able to activate personal hotspot via settings, so navigate to Settings. It is the gear-like icon that you can find on the homepage.
Furthermore, you can also find it on the quick access menu; the menu when you swipe down from the top right part of your screen. You’ll see it on the top-right part, it’s the same gear icon.
Step 2: Navigate to Connections and Turn on Mobile Data
When you’re in settings, hit on Connections. It’s usually found on the top part of the options in Settings.
In the options listed, try and find Data Usage. From there, you’ll be sent the details on the data usage you’ve had for the month.
Turn on your network by toggling the Mobile Data slider.
Step 3: Activate Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
After that, the next thing you have to do is to go back to the Connections panel and select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
Once inside that category, hit and toggle Mobile Hotspot to activate it.
Once you see the WiFi signal contained in a box on the top-left part of your screen, that means that your personal mobile hotspot is turned on.
Enabling Personal or Private Hotspot via the Quick Access Menu
By default, an Android device’s quick access menu, and this is the menu you get when you swipe from the top-right part of your screen.
Shuffle through the different options and look for the Mobile Data option. It’s the two arrows, pointing up and pointing down to activate mobile data.
Once you have it activated, go through the other icons and try locating Mobile Hotspot.
It’s the icon where you see a tilted WiFi symbol with a rectangular-shaped figure. Once both are on, then you just successfully activated your Android device’s WiFi capability!
This method is the fast method if you don’t want to go through settings, and; it’s just the same thing!
How to Turn On Personal Hotspot Verizon on iPhone
Now that you’re aware how to do it on an Android, here’s how you can enable it on an iPhone.
Step 1: Go to Settings and Cellular
Once you have your iPhone activated, navigate to Settings from the main menu or from the quick access menu when you swipe down from the top-right part of your device.
From Settings, go to Cellular. It should be within the same category (the top part).
Step 2: Activate Cellular Data
After you get into Cellular, the next thing you have to do is to turn on Cellular Data.
You can toggle this option easily, you just have to tap on it and the slider will go to the right and will turn green.
Step 3: Allow Others to Join
After you successfully activate it, the next thing you have to do is to turn on Personal Mobile Hotspot.
You can find it by going back to Settings; it’s part of the main menu. Access it and you’ll be able to see the option Allow Others to Join.
Enable that so your iPhone can allow other devices to connect to it!
NOTE:
This option will be available when cellular is turned on. It’ll be a greyed-out option and you can only have it enabled when the Cellular option is turned on or activated.

Now, is it really possible to turn on or enable mobile hotspot on the Verizon app? It is!
As a matter of fact, this option will become available if you’re prompted to set up personal hotspot.
NOTE:
When you’re not able to activate or turn it on via your mobile, then it means you don’t have a plan yet.
To have it set up, you first need to go through the My Verizon app.
Here are the steps on how you can enable mobile hotspot through the Verizon app:
Step 1: Download the App
The app is available for both Android and iOS devices, so don’t worry about compatibility!
