If your eufy camera won’t connect to WiFi, stay with us throughout this guide for a quick fix!
Your eufy requires a persistent and stable internet connection to re-produce the highest quality of live broadcast and store your recorded content properly.
The general reasons why your eufy camera won’t pair to the network are router problems, wireless interference, or application faults.
Whenever the eufy camera won’t connect, set the camera into “Pairing” mode, check the power supply, and soft reset the network router. If the fault continues, reinstall your eufy mobile app and factory reset the security camera.
Let’s analyze the issue further!
Why Does My eufy Security Camera Won’t Connect to WiFi?
The key to understanding the issue is deeply analyzing the behavior of the camera and how it responds upon associating it with a Wi-Fi network.
An issue with the eufy app, the built-in wireless transmitter, or environmental interference are the primary suspects.
But let’s look deeper:
Do eufy Security Cameras Need Wi-Fi?
While it is possible to use a security camera without an existing Wi-Fi connection, configuring your eufy cam offline will restrict you from using plenty of features.
You will lose access to live monitoring, all features offered by the eufy application, and the 24/7 support from eufy support.
Using a eufy cam without Wi-Fi will restrict you from using the following:
- All online features are offered within the eufy mobile app.
- Live monitoring and cloud data storage of the camera.
- The 24/7 live support and connection with eufy agents.
Note: Using the camera without reception also does not require an active subscription!
eufy Camera Won’t Connect to WiFi – Quick Solutions Steps
We recommend following the instructions in a consecutive order.
1. Put eufy in “Pairing” Mode
What most newbie eufy users don’t know, is that most security cameras released by eufy can be paired only after activating the “Pairing” mode.
Well, both indoor and outdoor eufy cameras have a built-in Sync button on the rear panel, that activates pairing mode after being pressed.
Here’s how to reconnect the eufy camera after activating the pairing mode:
- Optional: Uninstall your camera from the wall stand.
- Locate the “Sync” button on the back of the camera.
- Hold the button for 3 seconds to activate pairing mode.
- Next, open the eufy app on your Android or iOS device.
- Tap on “Add Device” and select the type of eufy model.
- Follow all the instructions to add the eufy camera device.
During setup, the camera must remain within a 5 feet range of the router to avoid potential interruptions. In addition, verify that the router is plugged and turned on before pairing eufy.
Tip: You can track the connection status and the settings of the eufy cam through the app!
2. Pair to a 2.4 GHz Thread
You should know that eufy cameras are only compatible with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi threads, so attempting to connect the cam with a 5 GHz network will be unsuccessful.
This specifically applies to dual-band routers that can transmit Wi-Fi on two separate frequencies at once.
So, open the eufy app, tap on “Add Device” and select the type of your camera.
After that, ensure to tap the SSID of your 2.4 GHz network and wait until the connection is validated.
Note: The pairing of the camera may take up to 30 seconds based on the performance!
One More Thing – Test eufy on Hotspot
The hotspot produced by mobile devices uses 2.4 GHz frequency by standard, so you can test the connection of the eufy camera on your mobile.
You need to ensure your “Hotspot” feature is activated, check the SSID and password, and then try to pair the camera through your eufy app.
Note: You can alter the settings and password of your mobile’s hotspot via the settings!
3. Shorten the Wireless Range
The main culprit for the periodic connection failures of the eufy outdoor camera is an insufficient wireless range to your network.
If the camera is positioned too far away from the network router or if there’s wireless/physical interference, the cam will be unable to remain securely connected.
The generally accepted wireless distance for both Eufy outdoor and indoor security cameras is around 30 feet within the network router or modem.
So, positioning the camera farther than 30 feet may result in periodic signal disruptions, issues with the signal, or prevent the unit from pairing.
Quick Tip: If you can connect your eufy camera right next to your router, you can exclude the distance as a possible reason for the connection problem.
4. Soft Reset the Network Router
If the eufy camera won’t connect at all or keeps losing coverage repeatedly, you should perform a soft reset on the network equipment to address existing issues.
The soft reset will discharge the electricity from the router’s hardware and solve issues with a third-party wireless connection.
Here’s how to perform a hard reset on your network router unit:
- Optional: Press the Power button of the network router.
- Disconnect the supplying power cable of the router unit.
- Next, wait for 60 seconds while your router is unplugged.
- Reconnect the supplying cable back into the power outlet.
- Wait until the router turns on and try pairing your camera.
Bonus Tip: Reset the Router’s Service:
A sudden service failure can cause all wirelessly connected devices besides the eufy cam to also lose reception.
You can easily address issues with the service installation of the router by unplugging the service Coaxial, telephone, or Ethernet cable from your provider’s socket.
Note: If your setup consists of a router and modem, unplug the modem’s service cable!
5. Decrease the Wireless Interference
Interference can come in two states – physical, caused by solid obstructions such as furniture, or wireless, produced by nearby devices on the same radio frequency.
That’s why you should ensure there are no other wireless devices nearby the eufy camera, congesting the networking.
Here are which devices can potentially congest with eufy’s signal:
- Nearby Bluetooth or other Wi-Fi devices.
- Baby phones or nearby RF transmitters.
- Metal surfaces, microwaves, or furnaces.
As established, the range between the eufy cam and the network should not be more than 15 feet.
Thus, make sure none of the devices we’ve listed above are found anywhere in between!
6. Uninstall & Reinstall the eufy App
If the eufy camera is still refusing to connect with your home Wi-Fi, you should reinstall the eufy application on your mobile device.
The app is specifically available on Android and iOS devices, so the app might have developed issues as a result of corrupted files or cache.
How to Re-install the eufy App On Android?
- Launch the “Settings” app on the Android mobile.
- Access the “Applications” or the “Storage” page.
- Scroll down and locate the eufy app within the list.
- Select the “Uninstall” option from the app’s menu.
- Download the eufy app from the Google Play Store.
How to Re-install the eufy App On Apple’s iOS?
- Locate the eufy app on the homepage of the iOS device.
- Hold the application’s icon for 3–4 seconds continuously.
- Press the “Remove this app” button from the menu tabs.
- Wait until eufy is successfully uninstalled from your device.
- Launch the App Store and download your eufy app again.
Note: If prompted, make sure to install the latest version of the eufy mobile application!
7. Factory Reset your eufy Camera
If the camera is still failing to establish a connection with the Wi-Fi network, you should initiate a factory reset to erase all the camera’s system settings.
The eufy camera may encounter connection failures due to preconfigured settings or already existing Wi-Fi preferences that interfere with the connection.
Here’s how to restore the eufy camera to factory defaults:
- Unmount the eufy camera from the wall mount.
- Locate eufy’s Reset button on the rear panel.
- Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
- Release the button once the LED has flashed.
- Pair the camera once the LED has gone blank.
The LED lamp of the eufy cam will start blinking rapidly on the fifth second of holding the reset button.
So, releasing the button early or over-holding it will prevent the procedure from starting.
Note: The eufy cam’s factory restoration can last for up to 3–4 minutes!
Quick Recap
Whenever the eufy camera won’t connect to WiFi, shorten the range between and verify that the eufy camera is in “Pairing” mode.
If the issue persists, reinstall the eufy app and perform a factory reset on the camera.
