Wondering why your Eero Pro 6 not connecting to internet? This guide covers everything!
When your Eero is not connected to the internet, this is an indication of a problem with your network device (modem) or the Eero itself.
Luckily, in this short guide, we have got you covered with all the reasons why this is happening and proven ways to restore your eero’s internet.
To fix the connection issue on your eero Pro 6, power cycle your equipment and Eero network.
If the issue persists, you should reinstall the app, re-add the eero Pro 6, and factory reset the device.
Before digging deeper into the steps, let’s first take a look at what can cause this problem!
Why My Eero Pro 6 Won’t Connect to Internet?
Your eero Pro 6 can’t connect to the internet either because there’s a temporal network bug or a software glitch that might be interfering with the connection capability.
Another possibility is that something might have gone wrong with the eero app or device setup, so we’ll take a closer look.
Here is a summarized list of all causes that could be related to your problem:
Note: This is a rare case, but sometimes, any physical or wireless interference placed near the network device can also prevent the mesh from connecting to the internet.
How to Fix When eero Pro 6 Not Connecting to Internet?
We are heading with the assumption that you have already set up your Eero Pro 6 on your eero network but experiencing connection issues.
If you haven’t set up your device, complete the setup process via the Eero app and then check if the issue persists.
If yes, keep reading for troubleshooting.
1. Power Cycle the Eero Pro 6
In most cases, a temporary network bug is the culprit behind the connection problem of your eero Pro 6.
So, start by performing a power cycle on your eero Pro 6.
This will discharge the power, clear out the problematic bugs, and allow eero to establish a more reliable connection.
Follow these steps to power cycle your Eero Pro 6:
- Unplug the Eero equipment from the power outlet.
- Wait for 5–10 minutes while the unit is unplugged.
- Plug the equipment back in and turn on the device.
Once the device boots up completely, then check your getaway Ethernet connection and see if Eero Pro 6 will connect to the internet.
2. Restart your Eero Network
If power cycling the Eero Pro 6 doesn’t resolve the issue, restart the network.
If a software glitch within the network is causing this issue, a restart can fix it.
It will clear out all glitches and refresh the connection with devices and servers, theoretically allowing the Eero Pro 6 to connect.
Follow these steps to restart your Eero network:
Method #1 Restart Via the Eero App:
- Open the Eero mobile application.
- Go to the Settings from the bottom.
- Next, go to the Advanced Settings.
- Tap on the “Restart Network” option.
- Lastly, confirm to restart the network.
Method #2 Manually Network Restart:
- Unplug the Ethernet cable from the Eero Pro.
- Disconnect the network modem from the outlet.
- Wait for ~5 minutes while units are unplugged.
- After that, connect the network devices back in.
After the above steps, the Eero network will go offline and disconnect for a few minutes.
Once the connection is established, your gateway will connect to the internet, so test the connection.
Reminder: Double-check the Ethernet cable connection on the back of your eero and modem!
3. Test the Internet Connection
The next thing you should attempt against Eero’s connection issue is to directly test the Internet.
To do this, simply plug the modem into your computer via an Ethernet cable (directly), bypassing the router (in your case the Eero Pro), just to test whether the broadband connection is working.
Here are two possible outcomes:
- If you can access the internet on your PC, then there might be something wrong between the modem and Eero connection.
- If you cannot access the internet, then there might be something wrong with the network itself. In that case, reach out to your ISP to fix the internet issue.
Bonus Tip: Wiring Inspection!
Since your Eero Pro 6 connects with the modem via Ethernet, to access the high-speed internet connection you must verify the wiring.
The Ethernet wire plugs into the “LAN” port of the modem and the other end must connect to one of the available “Ethernet” ports on the eero Pro 6.
Note: The Ethernet cable should “click in” the port and start blinking upon secure connection!
4. Enable the Bridge Mode
If your Eero Pro 6 is plugged into a combo device (modem), it’s crucial to ensure that the Bridge Mode functionality is enabled.
This is the only way an Eero Pro 6 can work with a modem, so to enable the Bridge Mode you must reach into the app settings and verify the option is enabled.
Here’s how to enable Bridge Mode on Eero Pro 6 in easy steps:
- Open the Eero mobile application.
- Go to Settings on the bottom right.
- Head to the “Advanced Settings.”
- Next, tap on the “DHCP & NAT” tile.
- Then, tap “Bridge” from the options.
- Confirm by tapping the Save button.
That’s all, and now the Bridge mode is enabled. So, check to see if your Eero Pro 6 gateway can connect to the internet.
If the issue persists, no worries, just continue reading the steps ahead…
5. Reinstall your Eero App
If you continue to experience internet issues with your Eero Pro 6, we recommend performing a clean reinstallation of the Eero mobile app.
Deleting and reinstalling the application will resolve any issue with your account or mobile app, which may be impacting the Bridge Mode features.
Follow these steps to reinstall the Eero mobile app:
- First, delete the Eero app from your phone.
- To do so, hold the app icon on the screen.
- On Android, drag the icon to the Trash Bin.
- On iOS, select the “Remove this App” tile.
- Open the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Find the “eero wifi system” and download it.
- Once downloaded, sign in to your account.
This will restore all the app settings within your account and get the gateway running again.
If the issue persists, make sure that the Ethernet cable connecting to your getaway and the modem is firmly plugged and operational.
Reminder: Verify that the Bridge Mode is enabled in the eero app after the reinstallation (especially if you use a combo setup).
6. Remove and Re-Add the eero
Sometimes, simply removing the problematic unit from the Eero network is all you need to solve the connectivity issue in a matter of minutes.
If you continue to experience the connection issue still, it’s recommended to remove your Eero Pro 6 gateway from the app and then add it back in.
Follow these steps to re-add your eero Pro 6:
Step #1 Remove the Eero Pro 6
- Open the Eero wifi system app.
- Choose your Eero Pro 6 device.
- Go to the “Advanced Settings.”
- Press the “Remove eero” button.
- Select “Remove from Network.”
Step #2 Re-Add the eero Pro 6
- Tap the (plus) icon from the top right.
- Tap “Add or Replace eero Devices.”
- Next, choose the “Add eero Device.”
- Follow the on-screen steps to set it up.
Your Eero gateway will then add to the app and connect to the internet.
If the issue persists, keep reading as there is one more effective thing that you can attempt…
7. Factory Reset the Eero Pro 6
If you’ve reached this step, but your Eero Pro 6 still is not connecting to the internet, reset it to the factory default state.
This will erase the configuration and restore the Eero system to the default settings, allowing you to set up eero from scratch.
Follow these steps to reset your Eero Pro 6:
- Find the “Reset” button on the eero’s back.
- Then, press the “Reset” button on the back.
- Keep holding the button for 15–20 seconds.
- Whenever the device flashes red, release it.
Your Eero Pro 6 will run through a reset process and then flash a blue light, indicating that the device is ready to set up.
When ready, simply set up your Eero Pro 6 through your mobile app.
