1. Reboot the System of the Reciever
To address all non-lasting functionality errors with the Hive receiver, it is strongly recommended to reboot the system by powering off the device.
This method will effectively address the green light on your receipt and will make your Hive device search for a server connection from scratch.
Here’s how to reboot the system of the Hive receiver in easy instructions:
- Press and hold the Central button on the Hive receiver.
- Release the receiver button after the display goes blank.
- Wait for 60 seconds while the Hive receiver is turned off.
- Hold the central button to reboot the receiver and test.
Alert: Do not interact with the Hive receiver before the display goes blank!
2. Reconnect Receiver to the Thermostat!
If the Hive flashing green light is still there, you must determine if the Hive receiver is still paired with the thermostat.
Connecting the receiver to the thermostat via the Hive mobile app lets you pair the central heating system to the external Hive servers.
Here’s how to establish a connection between the Hive receiver and the thermostat:
- Open the Hive mobile app on your Android/iOS phone.
- Then, press the “Install Devices” button at the very top.
- On the next prompt, select the “Add Another Device” tab.
- Wait for the set Hive hub to start flashing in white colour.
- Position the hub as close to the Hive receiver as possible.
- Wait until the hub has recognised the receiver and added it.
If the Hive hub has successfully completed the connection attempt, the Hive receiver should be added as an existing device within the Hive application.

Notice: The Hive hub won’t connect with the thermostat unless the devices are close enough!
3. Check for an Ongoing Service Outage!

- Navigate to status.hivehome.com via the browser link field.
- Check whether the “Hive Active Heating” tab is crossed out.
A red cross will be underneath the section if there’s an outage with either of Hive’s services.
The status checker completes a service identification every 30 seconds, so the tab will be updated and refreshed frequently so you know when the services are back.
Note: A Hive outage could typically last for up to 3 hours!
4. Reload & Update the Hive Mobile App

- Find “Hive” under “Pending Updates and Release Notes.”
