If your Wyze Doorbell Pro not connecting to the Wi-Fi network, this guide has the solution!
Unlike other video doorbells, the Wyze Doorbell Pro supports excellent connectivity with many network types and its coverage can exceed 150 feet.
If you’re unable to assign the doorbell to Wi-Fi, the issue can be caused by the network device, security settings, or your Wyze app.
If the Wyze Doorbell Pro isn’t pairing to Wi-Fi, add the Wyze Chime under “Accessories” and perform a power cycle on the network device.
If the problem continues, reinstall the Wyze app on your mobile and factory reset the router.
Let’s investigate the issue in further detail!
Why is the Wyze Doorbell Not Connecting to WiFi?
Here’s what can potentially impair the Wyze doorbell’s ability to connect:
Does Wyze Doorbell Pro Support 5GHz Wi-Fi?
This is arguably one of the most frequently asked questions about the Wyze Doorbell Pro and the answer is yes, the doorbell supports both threads.
Unlike the standard version, the Pro doorbell supports greater coverage, can maintain better connection, and supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
Note: The Wyze Doorbell Pro’s Wi-Fi network must be selected according to multiple factors, including distance, obstructions, and positioning.
Wyze Doorbell Pro Not Connecting – Here’s How to Fix
Tip: Try each of the solutions in methodological order!
1. Set Up Wyze’s Wi-Fi Again
There’s a possibility that the Wyze doorbell has temporarily lost connection due to a lousy signal or congestion in the communication.
So, to determine if your Wyze doorbell will drop connection again, you should complete the Wyze Doorbell Pro setup again through the Wyze application.
Here’s how to connect the Wyze doorbell to Wi-Fi in easy steps:
- Launch the Wyze application on your mobile device.
- Next, tap on the “+” button, then select “Add Device.”
- Choose “Cameras” and tap on “Wyze Video Doorbell.”
- Tap “Next” and confirm you have installed the doorbell.
- Follow the instructions to connect Wyze to any Wi-Fi.
Well, due to its excellent coverage and connection quality, Wyze’s Wi-Fi requirements aren’t as demanding as on other cameras.
Hence, you can still connect the Wyze Doorbell Pro even if it’s 100–150 feet away from the network router, even when on the opposite side of your property.
Notice: Wyze’s connection requirements are also defined by the type of your Wi-Fi network!
2. Pair the Wyze Doorbell Chime
The Wyze doorbell setup consists of two devices – the wireless chime and the wireless video doorbell.
So, once you’ve added the doorbell to the app, even if it is not connected to the Wi-Fi network, you must assign the chime as a device under the “Accessory” tab in your Wyze app.
Fortunately, neither the chime nor the doorbell have to be connected to Wi-Fi to link up the devices and start testing.
Here’s how to pair the Wyze chime in easy instructions:
- Plug your Wyze chime into a standard outlet.
- Launch the Wyze app on your mobile device.
- Next, tap on the profile of your Wyze doorbell.
- Tap “Accessories” and press on the “+” sign.
- Tap “Next” and hold the chime’s reset button.
- Stop holding once the chime’s LED flashes.
- Follow the in-app steps to set up your chime.
If the chime has been assigned successfully, its profile must be visible within the “Accessories” tab of the Wyze doorbell.
You can customize the chime’s settings by pressing on your device’s profile and scrolling down to the options.
Note: The Wyze app will guide you through the complete setup procedure of the chime!
3. Power Cycle the Wi-Fi Router/Modem
You can address existing coverage issues with your network by performing a power cycle on the Wi-Fi router or network modem.
This is a proven and effective solution against Wi-Fi-related issues, including congestion, impaired signal, or improperly configured Wi-Fi network protocols.
Here’s how to start and finish a “power cycle” on your network device:
- Optional: Locate and press the device’s “Power” button.
- Once the network unit powers off, unplug it from power.
- Wait for 60 seconds while the network unit is unplugged.
- Next, reconnect the power adapter of the device to power.
- Wait until the “Network” or “Status” lamp turns solid green.
Bonus Tip: Reset the Router’s Service:
You can resolve service issues with your network device by disconnecting and reconnecting the service cable.
Your router either uses a Coaxial or Ethernet cable for direct modem or socket connection, hence unplug the cable, and wait 30 seconds, before reconnecting it on both ends.
Note: Verify that the service cable is properly plugged on both ends!
4. Test your Wyze on a Mobile Hotspot
If your Wyze Doorbell Pro won’t connect even after power cycling the router, you should attempt to connect the doorbell to your mobile’s hotspot.
Well, all you need to do is turn on the “Mobile Hotspot” feature in your device’s settings and a small amount of Mbps data to test the doorbell.
Let’s learn how to set up the Wyze doorbell’s hotspot on Android and iOS!
How to Activate Mobile Hotspot On Android?
- On your Android, launch the “Settings” app, navigate to the “Cellular” or the “Mobile” and press on “Hotspot.”
How to Activate Mobile Hotspot On iOS?
- On your iOS, go to “Settings” and enter the “Personal Hotspot” from the main menu to enable the access point.
How to Add Wyze Doorbell Pro to Hotspot?
- Launch the Wyze app and tap on the “Home” button.
- Next, tap the “+” sign and then choose “Add Device.”
- Tap “Cameras” and press on “Wyze Video Doorbell.”
- Press “Next” and check the confirmation box below.
- Select the Personal Hotspot from the connection list.
- Enter your password for your mobile’s hotspot Wi-Fi.
- Follow the instructions to associate Wyze with Wi-Fi.
Warning: Your mobile must be within 5–10 feet range of the camera during the setup!
5. Troubleshoot the Wyze Mobile App
The Wyze mobile app can develop an issue as a result of not updating the firmware, launching the app without clearing the cache, or corrupting the file integrity.
A potential fault with the Wyze app can prevent the video doorbell from associating with a Wi-Fi network, leading to problems.
Let’s review the possible methods for addressing issues with the Wyze mobile app!
Update the Wyze App’s Firmware
A standard solution to underlying faults with the Wyze app is identifying whether there’s a newer firmware version available for the app.
All you need to do is launch the Google Play Store or App Store and navigate to “Installed Applications.”
There, you can check for recent Wyze updates.
Clear the Wyze App’s Cache
If you’ve been using the Wyze app for a while and haven’t cleared the cache, go to “Settings” → “Storage/Applications,” tap the Wyze app, and select “Clear Cache.”
On iOS, you can clear the cache by “Offloading” the app through the “Settings” main menu, by scrolling down.
Reinstall the Wyze Application
If the Wyze app’s fault persists, you should uninstall and reinstall the application on your mobile.
You can uninstall the Wyze app by holding the icon for 3–4 seconds and tapping “Remove this App”.
On Android, you’ll need to drag the icon to the Trash Bin or delete the app in the settings.
Tip: Clear the cache of the Wyze app once every 2–3 weeks to maintain the performance!
6. Factory Reset the Wyze Doorbell
You can complete the Wyze Doorbell Pro’s setup from scratch by restoring the unit to factory defaults and “forgetting” the device’s profile.
This is a working solution against misconfigured profiles, wireless interference, or improperly functioning Wi-Fi receiver of your Wyze doorbell.
Here’s how to restore the Wyze doorbell to factory defaults and set it up again:
- Find the “SETUP” button on the back of the doorbell.
- Press and hold the “SETUP” button for 15 seconds.
- Once the doorbell’s indicator turns orange, release it.
- Launch the Wyze application on your mobile device.
- Tap on your doorbell’s profile and scroll downwards.
- Press on “Remove Profile” and re-add your doorbell.
If the factory reset has been successful, the existing settings configuration of the Wyze doorbell within the app will be erased.
Remember that the factory reset will not remove the doorbell from the app, so you must manually uninstall the profile to freshly add your Wyze doorbell to the app.
Note: Stop all interactions with the Wyze doorbell for 60 seconds after starting the reset.
Quick Recap
If the Wyze Doorbell Pro not connecting, you can solve the issue by reinstalling the Wyze app, re-adding the Wyze doorbell/chime, and power cycling your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, force a factory reset on your Wyze equipment.
