Why Does the eufy Floodlight Camera Keeps Going Offline?
One possible reason why the Floodlight cam is offline could be the poor network connection.
Even if you have a reliable network at home, sometimes, the camera will still go offline, so it’s best to have a quick look at everything that may be causing the problem with your eufy setup.
Some of the possible causes for your offline eufy camera include:
Now that you have an idea of the underlying factors, let’s proceed with the troubleshooting!
How to Fix eufy Floodlight Camera Offline?
Before you begin with troubleshooting steps, we suggest you verify a few basic things that will often resolve the offline problem in a matter of minutes.
So, let’s quickly go over the essentials:
- Make sure your Wi-Fi works on all devices.
- Update the eufySecurity application build.
- Move electronics placed near your camera.
- Pair the phone with the eufy camera’s Wi-Fi.
If verifying these few things doesn’t help, proceed to the troubleshooting steps.
1. Restart the Floodlight Cam
Most of the time, the camera offline issues can be easily fixed by simply restarting the camera as it clears out all the problematic bugs from the device.
Additionally, manufacturers recommend restarting the camera occasionally to refresh the status, which may be stuck in an “offline” state.
Follow these steps to restart your eufy Floodlight Cam:
Restart Via eufy Security App:
- Open the eufySecurity application.
- In the Devices tab, select your cam.
- Tap on the three dots on the camera.
- Go down and press “Restart Device.”
Restart Via the Power Cycle:
- Unplug your camera directly from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds for the camera to fully discharge.
- Plug the camera back into a working wall outlet.
- Wait a few minutes for the eufy camera to boot up.
When you’re ready, reopen the eufySecurity app on your mobile and check whether the camera is now “online.”
Keep in mind that it can take up to 5 minutes for the status to change to “online.”
Reminder: Double-check to ensure that both your eufy camera and mobile are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Check the Wi-Fi Signal Strength
Sometimes, a simple power outage in your home can disrupt the Wi-Fi signal transmission that prevents your camera from connecting to the internet.
Even if your camera is installed near the Wi-Fi router, signal interference and congestion can limit the bandwidth causing the “offline” status.
Therefore, check your camera signal strength with these steps:
- Launch the eufySecurity application.
- Choose the Floodlight Cam Settings.
- Tap on General → “Wi-Fi Connection.”
- From there, check the internet strength.
If the signal strength is “Great”, then your camera should not have any Wi-Fi signal issues.
If it has poor signals, in the next section, stabilize your internet connection to improve the signals.
Note: The most effective way to optimize the signal strength is by closing the proximity between your camera and the Wi-Fi router.
3. Stabilize the Internet Connection
If your Floodlight camera is working fine but showing offline in the app, there is a chance that your phone has an unstable internet connection.
The app won’t connect and update the camera status in such cases, so to fix this, you should consider a few factors to stabilize your internet.
Here are a few ways to stabilize your internet connection:
- Power cycle your router and reconnect the cables.
- Move your router closer to your Floodlight camera.
- Avoid connecting multiple devices at the same time.
- Update the firmware on your home wireless router.
Taking all these factors into consideration will improve and stabilize your internet connection.
Once your internet gets stable, restart your camera and check the camera status in the app.
Note: If you identify internet issues on your side, then it’s clear why your camera is “offline.”
4. Connect Camera to your Hotspot
If you have a stable internet connection on all devices but the camera is still offline, toggle on your hotspot and try connecting the camera.
This will instantly show you whether the problem is on the internet or with the software/settings of your eufy Floodlight camera.
The only requirement is to disable your Wi-Fi and follow the steps we’ve prepared to enable a personal hotspot from your Android or iOS eufy app device.
- To enable personal hotspots on Android, go to Settings → Wireless & networks → Tethering & portable hotspot → Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
- To enable hotspot on iOS, go to Settings → Mobile Data → Personal Hotspot.
Follow these steps to connect a Floodlight camera to the hotspot:
- Enter in your eufySecurity application.
- Then, go to the Floodlight Cam settings.
- Under General, select Wi-Fi Connection.
- From the Wi-Fi Setup to connect the cam.
- Lastly, select your personal hotspot Wi-Fi.
If your camera connects to your mobile’s hotspot and becomes online, the problem might be with your home internet or router’s Wi-Fi settings.

5. Inspect your Network Settings
eufy Floodlight Cam has some network specifications that you must check to get the camera working.
If your camera is still showing offline, you should next check your Wi-Fi settings, such as your Wi-Fi credentials, thread frequency, and encryption method with the steps below.
On your phone or a PC connected to the router:
- Open the web browser and navigate to “192.168.0.1”.
- Input your router credentials and hit the Login button.
- Info: Typically you can sign in by using admin/admin.
- Then, from the router settings, navigate to “Wireless”.
- Ensure the “Enable SSID Broadcast” box is checked.
- Click on Advanced Wireless Settings and then Edit.
- Choose 2.4 GHz frequency and hit the “Save” button.
- Next, click on “Wireless Security” from the right side.
- Set the encryption version to WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK.
- Lastly, click the Save button again to save all changes.
The next step is to simply restart your router and eufy Floodlight camera to sync new changes.
Your camera will then be able to connect to the internet and become online in the application.
Note: We recommend using the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for your camera!
6. Re-Add the Camera to eufy App
Another effective method you should try when the eufy Floodlight camera is offline in the app is to remove and add the camera again.
Doing this simple approach will clear out all the connection and software-related issues with the camera and app, allowing a fresh start.
Follow these steps to re-add the eufy Floodlight camera:
Step #1 Remove the eufy Floodlight Cam
- First, launch the eufySecurity application.
- On the Floodlight camera, tap on three dots.
- Scroll down and choose “Remove Device.”

Step #2 Add the eufy Floodlight Cam
- Make sure your Floodlight Cam is plugged in.
- In the eufySecurity, head to the Devices tab.
- Tap “Add Device” and choose Floodlight Cam.
- Next, you must scan the QR code on the camera.
- Follow the on-screen steps and add your camera.
After you are done, check if the floodlight camera is showing online in a mobile app.
If the issue persists, in the next solution, reset your camera and then attempt the installation process again!
7. Factory Reset the Floodlight Cam
Important: This step will not apply to the Floodlight Cam 1080p model (T8420).
If you have tried all the previous steps and the camera’s power and network are in order, reset the camera to its default settings.
This method will delete everything, including your saved videos in the camera system, so make sure you back up the critical data.
Here is how to factory reset the eufy Floodlight camera:
- From the eufySecurity app, remove the camera.
- Tip: We’ve gone through this in the previous step.
- Hold the SYNC button on the cam for 10 seconds.
- OR: hold the Reset button on the Floodlight camera.
- The camera will then reboot and reset to default.
Once done, the camera will beep twice or flash a red LED light.
Next, simply add and set up your eufy Floodlight Camera through the eufySecurity app.
Note: If the issue persists, contact eufy Support and report your camera issue!
Quick Recap
