When the Internet light on your Dodo modem is flashing, you must power cycle the entire equipment (modem and nbn) and inspect the connection between them.

Why is Internet Light Flashing on Dodo Modem?
The “Internet” light on your Dodo modem may be flashing for many reasons, most of which are related to the nbn service and connection.
Hence, let’s take a quick look at everything involved.

How to Fix When Dodo Modem Internet Light Flashing?
Tip: Follow the steps chronologically!
1. Power Cycle Your Internet Hardware
The first and most important step is to power cycle your hardware, including the Dodo modem and the nbn connection box.
This is a simple restart; it doesn’t delete anything from your units but will refresh the internet flow, and the “Internet” light should stop blinking and turn to solid.
Here’s how to power cycle your Dodo modem and nbn box:
- First, press the Power button on your Dodo modem.
- Unplug the modem’s power adapter from the socket.
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the modem.
- Disconnect the nbn box’s power cable on both sides.
- Wait about 3 minutes for the devices to power cycle.
- Reconnect your modem and nbn power connection.
- Wait for up to 5 minutes for the internet establishment.

2. Check Your Dodo Account Payment
Your Dodo internet could be suspended if your account payment didn’t go through or there is a suspension on your services.
You can inspect for such disturbance by signing in to MyDodo using your username/email and password.
You must navigate to the “Account Balance” page and check whether your service is active and if the latest payment was successful.
If you’re not warned by an alert message that your internet service is “on hold,” “suspended”, or “restricted,” you must contact Dodo Support.
Tip: You can contact Dodo via Phone, Email or Live Chat.
3. Check for Ongoing Internet Outages
If your Dodo modem “Internet” light is blinking and you don’t have internet access, Dodo or the nbn services are likely offline.
This may be a temporary outage on their side, where your Dodo equipment or nbn is not involved, so you must check yourself and verify as soon as possible.

For accuracy, you must input your complete service address and check for ongoing outages affecting your residential area.
If there’s an outage, you can relax since the problem is not on your side and wait until the respective technicians have addressed the Dodo internet issue.
Tip: Outages shouldn’t last longer than 3 hours!
4. Verify the Dodo Modem Connection
The cables between the Dodo modem and the service nbn connection box are the most crucial component of your internet setup.
If your Dodo modem’s “Internet” light is blinking, perhaps the wiring in your broadband setup is loose or defective.
Thus, it’s time for a thorough inspection!
The wiring may differ based on your nbn equipment, so we’ll closely examine all internet nbn configurations, including (HFC, FTTC, FTTP and FW).
Dodo Modem with HFC or FTTC nbn:
When you have Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxal (HFC) nbn installation, you’ve got an Ethernet cable connection to the nbn with the modem.
For the FTTC nbn connection box, you must use the “Gateway” input port, and for the HFC nbn connection box, the “Uni-D1” port.
You must use the blue-coloured “WAN” port on your modem’s side.
If you plug the Ethernet wire into a “LAN” yellow port, the connection won’t work. Use the “LAN” port for your PC connection.
Note: If your Ethernet cable was supplied from Dodo, it must be in a blue colour!
Dodo Modem with FTTP or FW nbn:
If you have a Fixed Wireless (mobile broadband) or Fibre to Premise (FTTP), the connection is similar to the FTTC nbn connection box.
You’ll have a white or blue Ethernet cable to connect to the “Uni-D1” port on the nbn connection box and into the blue “WAN” port on the Dodo modem.
Note: Ensure you’re not confusing the “DSL” port with the “WAN” port on the modem!
5. Manually Configure the DNS Server
The Internet light flashing on modem Dodo may be due to a missing/wrong DNS configuration!
After completing the modem’s initialisation (Quick Setup), your device automatically acquires the WAN, Gateway and DNS IP addresses.
However, the Dodo modem “Internet” light is flashing because of a fault with the DNS IP address, so you may need to configure the DNS IP manually.
You must undertake two steps: log in to your Dodo modem settings and configure the DNS Server assignment.
So, we’ve prepared a step-by-step guide to perform everything in one go:
- Connect a PC or laptop to the Dodo modem’s network.
- Info: Only connection is required, not internet access.
- You can use an Ethernet (wired) or a Wi-Fi connection.
- Open an online browser on your connected computer.
- In the URL field, input “192.168.1.1” and press “Enter.”
- Log in via details found on a label on the modem’s back.
- Then, navigate to the “DNS Server Assignment” section.
- Then, click on “Edit” to switch to a working DNS service.
- Select any of the following DNS addresses for the modem:

Note: When you’re ready, Save the changes, exit your Dodo modem’s settings and check if the “Internet” light is still flashing.
6. Factory Reset Your Dodo Modem
If nothing helps, then the reason for the blinking “Internet” light on your Dodo modem is with the system.
Probably the most efficient but last-resort method is the factory reset, which will install the operating system of the modem, erasing everything in its way, including all your settings.
Warning: The factory reset erases the Wi-Fi, Proxy, DNS, Port-forwarding and everything else in your modem’s settings and can be reversed.
Here’s how to factory reset your Dodo modem in easy steps:
- On the back of your Dodo modem is the Reset button.
- The Reset button is in a pinhole, so you’ll need a tool.
- Info: You can use a paperclip, needle or a toothpick.
- Press and hold the Reset button for about 30 seconds.
- Release whenever the LEDs on the Dodo modem go off.
The Dodo modem will undergo a factory reset, and you must set up all the settings from scratch.
So, through a connected computer, go to “192.168.1.1”, log in, and carry out the “Quick Setup” instructions, which must appear immediately.
Tip: If you’re not prompted for the Quick Setup, use the navigation menu on the left!
