Before discussing the different ways to solve your Xfinity mobile outgoing calls problem, let us learn why this happens. Doing so will help us select the best course of action.
Why Xfinity Mobile Calls Not Going Through
When your Xfinity mobile calls are not going through, it can be due to several reasons.
The most likely culprit is the Airplane Mode. You may have accidentally enabled it, suspending your device’s signal transmission technologies.
Other possible causes include:
1. SIM Card Not Secure
Your SIM card may not be inserted correctly, which means it isn’t connected to your network. Or, you have mistakenly turned off your SIM card from the Settings.
2. Incompatibility with Downloaded Apps
If you couldn’t make calls after installing an app, that app may not be compatible with the call feature of your device.
These apps include call blocking apps, launchers, and home screen apps.
3. Phone Settings Issue
Call waiting may be off your phone’s settings, or the number you’re calling is on the Block or Spam list.
4. Service Outage
Xfinity may be down. There are currently reported problems with your signal.
Now that you know what keeps your Xfinity mobile from making calls, we can proceed to the troubleshooting steps.
How to Fix Xfinity Mobile Can’t Make Calls
Let’s start with the basic yet effective solution. Before you make a call, check your signal. It may be the sole reason your calls aren’t going through.
The signal bar icon on your phone’s status bar indicates the strength. If the network signal is not available, move to another place.
Restart your phone if your signal bar is full, but you still can’t make calls. Turn it off and wait for at least 30 seconds. Then, turn it on again. See if this fixes the issue.
Suppose your calls still can’t get through. Apply any of the following solutions based on what you think is the cause.
Solution #1: Toggle Airplane Mode to Reset the Network Connection
If your device has no signal, toggle the Airplane Mode before making a call. It will restart your network connection.
Your phone should reacquire the signal and allow you to make calls or send messages.
Here’s how to do it.
- Swipe down to open Quick Settings or navigate to Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet and select Airplane Mode.
- Turn off Airplane Mode.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Turn on Airplane Mode.
Note: If your Android phone is still unable to make calls, try the next solution.
Solution #2: Clean Your SIM Card
Instead of removing your SIM, first, deactivate it. Then, activate it again. If this doesn’t resolve the conflict, your SIM card may be dirty or unsecure.
Check your SIM card for dust and grime, and make sure it is inserted properly.
Here’s what you should do.
- Turn off your Xfinity mobile.
- Eject the SIM tray using a SIM ejector tool.
- Take your SIM and Wipe it with a clean cloth.
- Place your SIM in the tray as instructed.
- Re-insert the SIM tray and check if you can now make calls.
Note: Check your SIM card settings. You may have mistakenly turned off your SIM card.
Solution #3: Clear the App Cache of Your Dialer App
Clearing your dialer’s app cache and data should get you making calls in no time.
Doing this doesn’t log you out of the app and doesn’t cause any damage. It’s the perfect solution to get your Xfinity Mobile service back.
Here’s how you can do it.
- Launch your Settings menu and select Apps & Notifications.
- Tap See all apps and scroll through the list until you find Phone.
- Select Storage & cache.
- Tap the Clear cache icon.
- Launch your dialer and see if you can make a call.
Note: Doing this will not delete your Contacts or Call History.
Solution #4: Switch Off Call Barring
Call barring on outgoing calls puts you in control of your calls. You can make and take calls anytime and anywhere by switching it off.
Here’s what you should do turn it off.
- Open your Phone Call app.
- Tap on the three dots at the top right and select Settings.
- Choose Calling accounts.
- Tap on the SIM you are using and tap Call Barring.
- Turn OFF the call barring option.
Note: If you can’t turn off the call barring service, contact your network provider for more assistance.
Solution #5: Reset Network Settings on Your Phone
Resetting your network settings is a common and effective solution if you can’t make calls on your Xfinity mobile phone.
Doing this will wipe your saved network settings including refreshing the connection with your carrier.
To reset the network settings on your phone, you can do this.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and select System.
- Choose Reset options.
- Select Reset WiFi, Bluetooth, and mobile network.
- Choose the calling SIM that can’t make calls and tap Reset Settings.
Note: If this does not clear the issue, update your device’s software to the latest version. You can do this over WiFi.
Solution #6: Reset Your Phone to Factory Settings
Finally, if none of the above solutions work, we recommend you reset your phone to its default settings.
And, if this also fails, you can say that the issue is hardware-related.
Here’s how to reset your Android phone to factory settings:
- Go to Apps and tap Settings.
- Select Back up & reset.
- Tap Factory Reset.
- Choose Reset device.
- Select Erase Everything.
If your Xfinity mobile is an iPhone, reset it to the factory setting by following these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Choose Reset iPhone.
- Tap Erase all content and settings.
Note: A factory reset will delete all data on your phone. Make a backup before you do so.
