How to Fix When Xfinity Mobile 5G Not Working?
After learning about the potential 5G issues your mobile device could have in relation to Xfinity, it’s time to address all of the problems respectively.
We’ll go over both basic and advanced solutions, in the pursuit to make your Xfinity 5G network online!
Solution #1 Verify 5G Compatibility on your Phone
While many users have been having problems with the 5G back when it was introduced, some just didn’t have their mobile devices compatible with such a network.
In fact, when 5G started launching throughout the world, very few mobile devices were compatible with the network.
In that set of thoughts, you should first identify whether your own phone is compatible!
Here are the most-popular 5G-enabled smartphones:
- All iPhone Models Release After iPhone 12 (Mini and Pro included)
- Samsung Galaxy (5G) A51
- OnePlus Pro 8
- Motorola G 5G
- Oppo Reno 5G Pro
- Samsung Note20 Galaxy Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 10 5G
- Huawei Mate 20 X 5 G
And the list goes on…
Clearly, you could tell that a particular mobile device is compatible with 5G networks, just by checking whether the model name has a “5G” apostrophe at the end.
If you can tell, it’s best to Google your exact mobile device and check if it is compatible.
Tip: Check you’re smartphone’s box for any “5G” indications!
Solution #2 Toggle Airplane Mode ON & OFF
A quick way past Xfinity mobile data issues (4 and 5G included), is to toggle the Airplane mode ON and then turn it back OFF.
It’s a way of refreshing the SIM card connection of your device and reconnecting with the nearest cellular tower, to your device’s position.
- The Airplane mode also disconnects your mobile from the cellular!
Follow these steps to toggle your mobile device’s airplane mode:
- Launch the Settings of your mobile device.
- Head to “General”.
- Tap on “Airplane”.
- Press the Activation Slider at the top of the page.
- Keep the airplane mode turned on for at least 15 seconds.
- Turn the feature OFF.
- Wait for your phone to reconnect with the network…
After toggling the Airplane mode, give your device a few seconds to get reconnected with the carrier’s network.
Once the connection indicator displays a successful connection, check if the Xfinity 5G is working now.
Notice: You’ll know that it is working if a “5G” icon appears next to the signal indicator!
Solution #3 Confirm Xfinity 5G Eligibility in your Area
If your 3G or 4G is fine, but the 5G is missing, it’s probably due to it not being available in your area.
Due to Xfinity 5G being extremely limited as of now, it’s only available in big cities, where there’s an actual installation of 5G equipment.
The Xfinity network is available Nationwide in the USA, but finding its way to countryside and province locations has been proven difficult.
To check where the Xfinity network is available as of now, it’s best to visit their website.
- Visit Xfinity’s official website, to understand everything about 5 eligibility!
There are accurate online services that’ll immediately tell you whether a 5G network is available for your location. Based on the results, either keep troubleshooting further with our guide or move into a region that supports 5G.
Note: 5G network installations are expected to grow in size and coverage in the next few years!
Solution #4 Toggle The 5G ON/OFF
While many phone manufacturers have still not made it possible to control whether 5G connectivity is enabled or not, some have implemented it already.
The models after the iPhone 12 and some of the newest Androids have the feature to turn 5G connectivity ON and OFF.
- The standalone 5G feature on your phone has nothing to do with Xfinity!
Based on your situation, you may not have this type of connectivity being hosted by your phone at all times.
Let’s learn how to enable and disable 5G on iPhones and the latest Androids!
Turn 5G ON/OFF (on iPhones):
- Head to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options.
- Navigate to Voice and Data > Mobile Data Options.
- Press the Voice and Data button.
- Tick the “5G” box ON/OFF.
Turn 5G ON/OFF (on Androids):
- Launch the Settings of your Android.
- Go to “Mobile Data” > “Preferred Network Type” (or Network Mode).
- Set the activation for “5G” to the ON side or the OFF side.
- Test…
If 5G was already turned on for your device, simply Restart it and check how that would go. If everything seems to be working fine with the 5G after you’ve given it a reboot, it’s probably a bug of your carrier’s, that’s soon to be resolved!
Note: If you do not find a 5G feature on your mobile device, it’s due to outdated software!
Solution #5 Reseat the Xfinity SIM Card
The next thing you should do is Reseat the Xfinity SIM Card, supplied to you by the provider.
This is an advanced way to refresh the 5G network signal by your carrier that reaches your phone.
It is also possible that Xfinity is temporarily having an outage in particular regions that impact your SIM card’s ability to recognize 5G signal or maintenance in a similar way.
Follow these instructions to reinsert the SIM Card into your mobile device:
- Get a SIM Card Tool (supplied with most phones or SIM cards).
- Find the pinhole to the SIM tray on the side panel of your phone.
- Insert the sharp part of the SIM tool into the pinhole.
- Once the compartment clicks out, pull out the tray.
- Take out the SIM card from the tray.
- Wait for 60 seconds, while the tray and SIM are taken out.
- Place the SIM back onto the tray (place it correctly, to answer the markings).
- Reinsert the dray, back into your phone.
- Test…
Keep in mind that it is possible to insert the tray incorrectly into your phone. That’s especially common to happen if you’re new to your mobile device’s SIM tray.
Solution #6 Reset the Mobile Network Settings!
If nothing worked so far, the final solution would be to Reset the Network Settings!
By doing so, you’ll wipe out every connection aspect of your mobile device, including, WiFi, Cellular connectivity profiles, and Bluetooth.
However, this helps by refreshing the connectivity on your mobile and if you’re subscribed to Xfinity 5G plan you’ll be able to use it.
Follow these instructions to learn how to reset the network settings of your phone:
- Go into the Settings of your mobile device.
- Head to the General Tab.
- Tap on “General Management”.
- Select “Reset” (generally located at the bottom of the tab).
- Choose “Reset Network Settings”.
- Confirm that you want to erase the network settings of your device.
- Wait…
Note: Don’t forget to enable the 5G
Quick Recap:
When your mobile is offline because Xfinity mobile 5G not working, the best you can do is reinsert the SIM card and toggle the Airplane mode ON and then OFF.
After that, reset the Network Settings and check whether your phone is compatible with Xfinity 5G.
