Before we resolve it, though, what things cause your Xfinity caller ID to not work on the TV? What are the common reasons for this error?
The problem of the caller ID not working could root from a lot of different reasons.
The error could seem such a nuisance, but the problem is that it’s difficult to pinpoint what the specific cause is.
Among the many different reasons and causes, the following are the most common ones:
- The Xfinity Voice Caller ID is not active on the account
- The feature has been added just recently (before 24 hours)
- Large load on the device or TV
- Your region doesn’t allow caller ID on TV
- The number is blocked
These reasons vary, and the reason it’s not working might not be the reason why it’s not working with your neighbor.
Regardless of the cause, here’s the complete solution if your Xfinity Voice caller ID on TV not working.
Solving it could seem daunting, but it’s actually easy.
As a matter of fact, here’s a solution we came up with that would sweep through all the causes, so you don’t have to know what the actual cause is!
The first step you want to do is to check if Xfinity Voice is still active on your account.
If you’re paying for them individually (not on a bundle), then it’s possible that you might have missed the payments for it.
So, here’s how you can check the account status of your Xfinity Voice service:
- Log into the Xfinity My Account app or web version.
- Tap and select Voice at the bottom part of the screen.
- If it’s still active, you’ll see your plan, as well as the due date of it.
- If you’re seeing a greyed-out area, then it’s an implication that you need to pay.
Another alternative you can do is to call and contact Xfinity’s customer support team at 1-800-Xfinity.
From there, inquire if you have the service by verifying your account. They might ask you for the following to verify:
- Account Number
- Last Payment Date
- Exact Payment Amount Made (Latest)
- What Plan You’re On
- Billing Cycle Date
- Bill Due Date
Apart from your Xfinity Voice service, the next thing you want to do is check if your Xfinity TV service is updated.
The fastest way you can verify this is by double-checking your Xfinity profile or account online.
- Open Xfinity My Account or the My Xfinity Mobile App.
- From there, choose TV or Cable.
- After that, you should see the information about your Xfinity TV account.
You’ll know that it’s inactive when you see the information on your Xfinity TV account greyed out.
It’s active if you’re able to view the information and if the links are clickable.
After you’re done double-checking if your account is good, the next step is to check if your Xfinity caller ID is allowed and active in your region.
The only way to check the eligibility of your region is by contacting and dialing Xfinity’s customer service and asking/inquiring about it.
They’ll usually have a list of the regions where the service is eligible.
Note: You can also inquire to the representative if it’s activated or applied to your TV.
If your region is eligible and if it’s activated, the next step is to make sure that the notification is turned on or active on the TV.
Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to do this:
- On your remote, press [MENU] or [XFINITY] button twice.
- From there, go to Interactive TV and click OK on the remote.
- Under Interactive TV, select Notifications.
- You’ll see a list of services, choose Caller ID.
- Use the left and right keys on the remote to activate or deactivate the Caller ID.
To lock the changes and modifications in, the last step is to restart or power cycle the TV and the TV box.
To do this, you simply have to turn the TV off first, and then the TV box. Ensure that you do it in this order.
Then, wait for two (2) to three (3) minutes before plugging and turning the devices back on again.
Note: If the Caller ID feature has just been applied (less than 24 hours), you’ll have to wait for the full 1-day or 24 hours for the changes to take effect.
If you’ve done and followed the steps carefully, but it’s still not showing on your TV, it’ll be best to contact Xfinity and inform them of the dilemma.
The issue could be lying on Xfinity’s end and not your equipment. Also, inform them of all the troubleshooting steps you’ve done so that they wouldn’t be repeated.
Thus, to make the caller ID on your Xfinity TV appear, check if both Voice and TV services are still active, then ensure that you’re in a region where it’s working. Activate caller ID, then power cycle the TV and TV box to lock the changes in.
When you notice your Xfinity Caller ID on TV Not Working, don’t panic.
It’s usually something that’s solvable without the need to wait for days unless it’s a technical problem like service maintenance or outage.
