Why is My Sky Wireless Connector Not Working?
The Sky wireless connector is a simple device, and if it’s not working properly, it’ll be difficult to understand the point of why it’s not connecting.
But, according to several reports from people who experience it, the most common reasons for it:
- Loose connection between Sky Box and Sky Wireless Connector
- Sky Wireless Connector power supply problem
- Hardware problems
The fact that it’s such a simple and easy device adds to the complexity and difficulty in solving it.
But, not with our guide! We designed this tutorial to be comprehensive, tackling all possible dilemmas and their solutions.
Sky Wireless Connector Mini Not Working – Complete Fix Steps
Our tutorial will feature everything that you can use to fix and make your Sky Wireless Connector mini work again.
Step #1: Ensure That Sky Broadband is Working
First things first – make sure that your broadband is duly connected to the internet and is working.
So, make sure that your broadband is working. To do this, you can check the internet connection on your PC/MAC or your smartphone.
To make things better, perform a power cycle of the broadband.
- Take the power cord of the hub/router out.
- Leave it unplugged for about 10 to 20 seconds.
- Connect and plug it to power back in again.
NOTE: Without the internet, you wouldn’t be able to determine whether your wireless connector is working or not because its use is for the box to access On-Demand content.
Step #2: Ensure That the Power Button is Depressed on the Connector
If you’re not seeing any lights on the connector, it could be something with how it’s powered on.
So, check the front panel of the device and see if the power button is depressed.
Having it pressed will cause the fuse not to trigger when you power it on. Should it be stuck and pressed, try taking out debris or dust that could be causing it to be pressed.
Step #3: Reconnect the ODC’s Power Cable/Link
If the button is all good, then it could be a problem with the power cable or power wire.
So, what you want to do is disconnect and reconnect the power cable from the back of the connector. It’ll also be helpful to unplug and replug it back to the main socket.
NOTE: It’s advised to use the power adapter that came with the connector.
This ensures that the device will get the recommended energy to power the device on.
Step #4: Check the Ports/Jacks of the Box and the ODC
The most common issues of devices like this would be parts and components of their hardware.
So, for this step, you want to ensure that the ports on both the box and the Sky Wireless Connector are fully functional.
- Unplug all cables from both devices.
- Take a flashlight, and then light the ports up to see if there’s anything blocking.
- Do this to the ports of both the box and the wireless connector.
NOTE: You can use a hair blower if you can’t see past the port or the jack. This will help take out light dust/dirt that could be stuck within the ports.
Step #5: Detach and Reattach the Ethernet Cable Connecting the Devices
After making sure that there isn’t anything with the ports, try disconnecting and reconnecting the Ethernet cable that links both devices.
In doing this, make sure that you plug the power cables of both devices so that they’re turned on. So, to do it:
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Wireless Connector.
- Plug it back in again after five (5) to ten (10) seconds.
- After that, unplug it from the side of the box – plug it back in after the recommended period.
NOTE: When you reconnect it, you need to hear the “click” sound to guarantee that it’s been attached to the respective port.
If you don’t hear the sound, try a different Ethernet cable instead.
Step #6: Network Reset the Sky Box
Last, but most definitely not least is to perform reset network settings of the Sky Box.
Here’s how you can reset the network settings of your Sky Wireless Connector:
- On your Sky Box, navigate to Home.
- Then, select Settings > Setup > Network.
- From there, highlight Status and choose Reset.
Wait for the confirmation that the box has been reset before you try to connect it to the ODC again.
What Does a Reset Network Settings Do?
Resetting the network settings of your box clears out all saved data and information – even its connection with the ODC or the Sky Wireless Connector.
This would include the network it has been connected to, the SSID (connector name), and the saved passwords.
When you’ve finished this process, your Sky Wireless Connector mini should now work! You should now be able to have access to on-demand content on your Sky Box.
But what if this process isn’t enough to get it to work again? What next courses of action can you do to solve it?
My Sky Wireless Connector is Still Not Working, What Should I Do?

To make your Sky Wireless Connector work, first, power cycle the Sky broadband. Then, power cycle the Sky box, and then reconnect the Ethernet cable that links it to the connector. Ensure that the ports of the connector are stable and perform a network setting reset of the ODC.
