Do you have questions about Sky Glass moving home? Well, then, this guide is just for you!
It’s well known that the Sky ecosystem is in a closed environment with quite a few limitations, so if you’re moving to a new home, there might be a few factors to consider.
This short guide will unwrap all the extra steps you must undertake when moving a Sky Glass TV to your new home!
When moving Sky Glass TV to a new home, you must first contact Sky and schedule an engineer visit to your new property. Also, you must clarify that you’re relocating a Sky Glass TV for the engineering team to schedule the meeting and perform the relocation.
Let’s continue to unwrap!
Moving Home With Sky Glass – Key Points!
The Sky Glass TV is activated and linked to your broadband IP address, and when moved to a different geological location and different internet, the TV will not connect.
This is the greatest limitation that prevents users from freely switching the physical location of their Sky Glass TVs.
Using Your Sky Services
The Sky Glass TV, at its core, is a machine that would work regardless of where you position the device, but the location impacts your Sky services.
If you do not intend to use the smart features of the Sky Glass and only use the TV as a monitor, you don’t need to schedule the migration.
Moving Your Broadband
Well, if you want to continue using the Sky services, you must also relocate your broadband setup so the TV can use the same registered IP address.
Also, if you have a Sky dish, you won’t be able to relocate and set up the dish yourself, so you must call an engineer to come over.
Paying Sky Subscription
Before you can schedule a meeting for Sky equipment relocation, you must ensure that the Sky Glass TV is activated and your subscription is paid.
Any pending dues must be paid before you can continue with the relocation of your Sky Glass and other Sky equipment.
Moving a Landline Phone
Sadly, when moving your Sky Glass and Sky Broadband to another location, you won’t be able to keep your landline number.
The Sky engineers will take care of your setup, but you will have a new landline number when the home moving is completed.
Those were the most important things to know, so let’s learn how it’s done!
Sky Glass Moving Home – Complete Steps Guide!
Tip: Follow the steps chronologically!
1. Prepare for Sky Home Moving!
The preparation for the Sky Glass home-moving is the first and essential part since it involves a lot of factors to inspect, check and verify.
Without the proper preparation, you will not be able to schedule the equipment relocation, so it’s best to check the important factors on your end first.
Clear Outstanding Balance
Any outstanding balance on your Sky account must be paid and cleared before you contact Sky to schedule the relocation of your equipment.
The easiest way to check for any pending dues to Sky, use an online web browser and log in by using your Sky ID.
You must verify that the following services are paid and activated:
- Sky Broadband
- Sky TV Service
- Sky Landline
Note: When you sign into your account, you can review the billing dates and whether any services have expired.
Prepare Service Payment
If you didn’t know, there is a fee for the equipment relocation, which you must be prepared for before scheduling the relocation meeting.
If you’re not a Sky VIP customer, you must pay £50 for the engineer visit during the weekday or £65 for a meet-up during the weekend or holiday.
In addition, there may be an activation fee for your Sky Broadband at your new location, which is necessary to continue using your Sky Glass.
Note: The services will be free if you have a Sky VIP membership!
Two Weeks Notice Setup
You must schedule the engineer visit for the Sky Glass relocation 2 weeks before you leave the old property.
This is the time it takes for the Sky engineers to schedule your meeting and for everything to go smoothly without delay or further complications.
No Internet Until Activation
It’s crucial to know that your Sky Broadband will be relocated with the Sky Glass TV, so you’ll have no internet during the home-moving.
When the equipment is relocated on the meeting day, the Sky engineers will activate your broadband so you can continue using your Sky Glass TV.
Reminder: If you’re relocating a landline phone, you’ll lose your current number!
Book Your Sky Home Moving
Whenever you’re ready with the preparation and know the most critical factors, it’s time to contact Sky to schedule an engineer visit.
There are three important steps to undertake!
#1 Engineer Visit
On the day of the meeting, a Sky representative over 18 years of age will come over and remain present during the relocation and activation.
Sky engineers will not enter your property without permission, and decisions about drilling holes and running cables only come after the approval.
To guarantee the safety of their employees, Sky does not allow the installation of dishes on flats with scaffolding or other obstructions.
The work done by the Sky engineers is covered with a 90-day warranty, so it’s safe to proceed with the qualified team.
#2 Your Sky Bills
After the relocation, the first bills may differ from what you’re used to adjusting as per the new or existing equipment.
There are also refunds, especially if you’ve paid for an entire month, but the Sky Broadband at the old property is disconnected before your billing cycle date.
#3 Sky Schedule
Finally, it’s time to contact Sky through the official “home-moving” portal on a device connected to the internet with an online browser.
So, go to Sky Moving Home With Us and click the “Book My Home Move” button.
To schedule a Sky home-moving, note the Date, Address and Postcode, then click on the “I understand” button and finally click “Get in touch”.
Then, you’ll be redirected to sign into your Sky account and change your address to initiate the Sky Glass home-moving procedure.
Note: When you’re ready, you must wait for Sky to contact you!
Track Your Sky Glass Moving
When you’re with the moving home Sky Glass schedule, the only thing left is to wait for the day when the Sky engineer will come over to set up your equipment.
In the meantime, you can continue using the Sky Glass TV in your old properly, as well as your Sky Broadband and landline.
How to Track a Schedule?
You can track your home-moving order and engineer visit schedule at the Order Tracking page on the official Sky website.
Of course, you’ll be prompted to sign into your account with the Sky ID, and then, you can see how your order is being processed and prepare for the relocation.
How to Cancel the Moving?
You can cancel or change the date of the Sky Glass relocation, but you have to do it 48 hours before the engineer’s visit.
If you cancel the scheduled meeting on the day or the day before, you must pay the £25 charge, which will be added to your next Sky subscription billing cycle.
Sky Home Moving – What You Need To Leave Behind?
If your Sky Broadband is entirely fibre, you must leave the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and its power supply behind in your old property.
When relocating such equipment, the ONT terminal stays behind, and the engineering team will perform the activation at the new home.
Also, you must ensure that the currency ONT installation in your old property is working so the activation at the new place will go through successfully.
If you’re experiencing any issues with the current equipment, it’s best to contact Sky directly to discuss the Sky Glass home moving.
