Why Won’t My Sky Glass TV Turn On?
The reason why Sky Glass TV is not turning on can be caused due to multiple factors, but there are many surrounding factors.
So, let’s review everything that might be responsible for this…
Now that we know what might be causing the issue let’s continue troubleshooting!
How to Fix When Sky Glass Won’t Turn On?
Tip: Apply the steps in chronological order!
1. Try the Sky Glass Power Button
The very first and easiest thing to attempt is to turn on the Sky Glass TV, bypassing the remote control and using the dedicated power or “Standby” button.
This button is located on the right side of the Sky Glass TV panel and has a power icon located below the microphone button.
Verify that your TV is connected to power and press the “Standby” button! This will turn on your TV, and you should see the Sky logo shortly after.
In case, however, the TV is not turning on when using the physical button, there is no power. Jump to the next step!
Troubleshooting Sky Glass Remote!
If the Sky Glass TV turns on when using the TV button, but you can’t turn on the TV with the remote, then perhaps the batteries are low.
The Sky Glass TV remote uses two AAA batteries, so make sure to replace them with “alkaline” units to prevent damaging the remote control.
Tip: Press and hold 4 and 6 buttons together for three seconds to reset the Sky Glass remote!
2. Power Cycle the Sky Glass TV
If your Sky Glass TV won’t turn on, one of the best methods to address the issue easily would be the power circulation.
Your Sky Glass TV requires a consistent power supply, and in case of any A/C fluctuations, you may not be able to turn on the device.
The power cycle will not delete anything from your Sky Glass but will only discharge the power and refresh all operational services.
This should be enough to solve the problem, so here’s how:
- First, unplug the Sky Glass TV from the electrical outlet.
- Also, unplug the power cable from the Sky Glass as well.
- Press and hold the TV “Standby” button for 30 seconds!
- Press and hold the “Power” remote button for 30 seconds.
- Then, leave your Sky Glass TV unplugged for 3 minutes.
When the power circulation is over, you must reconnect the power adapter of your TV tightly on both sides and attempt to power on the Sky Glass.
3. Check the Power Cable & Port
We recommend checking whether there are any visible faults on the power port and power connector to identify issues with the Sky Glass TV as early as possible.
The power cable of the Sky Glass TV is a standard cable, enclosed with plastic connectors on one side and an outlet connector on the other.
You must inspect your Sky Glass power equipment for the following:
- Bent connectors
- Dust accumulation
- Melted plastic
- Port obstruction
- Cable rips and wear
If you identify that the power cable of your Sky Glass TV is not in good shape, we recommend not to use this cable any longer.
As we’ve mentioned, the Sky Glass power cable is a standard unit, so if you have another TV in your home, you can easily justify whether this is the culprit.
Note: Verify that the connector is securely connected to the Sky Glass TV power port!
4. Switch to Another Power Source
If your Sky Glass not turning on, even when the power cable appears to be in working condition, maybe the reason for this issue is a faulty electrical outlet.
To begin the inspection, use your smartphone’s charger to verify that the power outlet is functional by trying to charge your phone.
Test turning on your Sky Glass TV when connected to a different outlet.
However, to take this solution one step further, you must verify that the outlet is not fluctuating and the power is stable.
To do so, you must use a lamp instead of a phone charger, which will reflect any electrical fluctuations as a light flickering, which might suggest a fault with the A/C.
Was There a Recent Power Outage?
In case there was a power outage recently, and your Sky Glass is now not turning on, likely the power in your home is still fluctuating.
If that’s the case, all outlets in your A/C line will provide insufficient power, so you must remain patient until the power in your household is fully restored.
Info: The fastest way to identify power insufficiency at home is to observe whether the lights are weak or flickering.
5. Restart the Main Circuit’s Power
Sometimes, the reason why Sky Glass not turning on is due to your own A/C line because of issues such as a blown fuse or tripped fuse.
This is why, at this point, it’s crucial to check if other appliances in your home are also struggling to turn on and reset the power from the breaker.
Warning: Turn OFF all of your electrical appliances before refreshing the power!
When you open the panel of your circuit breaker, you’ll be greeted by a few fuses, each one for a different room/floor in your home.
We recommend flipping the switches for all fuses (DOWN) to turn them off and, after a few minutes (UP), to turn the power back on.
Reminder: When the power is refreshed, reconnect your Sky Glass TV's power adapter and test whether the device will turn on.
6. Perform a TV System Recovery
If your Sky Glass TV not turning on, perhaps there is a severe software failure, so you must test performing a system recovery.
Theoretically, this should work even when your Sky Glass is not turning on, so without any hassle, let’s learn exactly what to do…
- Press and hold the “Standby” button continuously.
- Info: The button is on the right side of the screen.
- While holding, unplug the TV from the power outlet.
- Keep holding the button and plug in the wall adapter.
- Release the “Standby” button and wait for the LED.
If the LED light flashes, your TV is receiving power and will now undergo a system recovery.
So, you must remain patient since this process can take up to 15 minutes, and then you must set up the Sky Glass from scratch.
Note: If your Sky Glass LED does not flash, your TV is not receiving power!
7. Replace Your Power Equipment
Finally, if your Sky Glass TV is not turning on, it’s possible that the power cable is not working!
The best place to receive a power cable replacement is by contacting Sky, but if you want to save some time, you can purchase an adapter online.

Hardware Sky Glass Failure?
It’s not excluded that a power surge or a wall outlet malfunction lethally damaged your Sky Glass TV.
In those cases, you might be dealing with a burnt power supply, damaged main board, or faulty backlight, which can’t really be solved at home, so check your TV warranty!
Quick Recap:
The Sky Glass won’t turn on due to a fault with the power cable connectors, Sky Glass TV power port, or electrical outlet insufficiency.
The best way to address those issues is to power cycle the Sky Glass, connect to a different outlet, and test the system recovery!
