1. Make Sure Your Oura Ring is Charged Up

The first thing you should do is ensure your Oura ring has enough battery. If your ring’s battery level falls below 50%, it won’t update or sync properly.

To address this, charge your Oura ring sufficiently before attempting any updates.  

Here are the steps to do this:

1. Plug the charger into a power outlet using a USB cable.
2. Place your Oura ring on the charge with its sensors facing down.
3. You should see the charging dock light up.  
4. Wait until your Oura ring is fully charged or above 50%.

Note: It usually takes about 20-60 minutes to fully charge the Oura ring, depending on its current battery level and the charger’s power source. 

2. Keep Your Oura Ring and Phone Close for Better Connectivity

Next, ensure your Oura ring is within Bluetooth range of your paired smartphone and that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.

Interference from nearby devices causes connectivity problems, so keep your phone and ring close to each other. 

1. Keep your phone and Oura ring within 10 feet (30 meters) of each other.
2. Don’t place them near your other Bluetooth devices. 
3. Don’t place them near metal objects like your keys, coins, and jewelry. 
4. Avoid putting them in closed spaces like your drawer, bag, or pocket.

3. Force Close the Oura App on Your Phone

To resolve this, force close and restart the app on your phone to refresh it and eliminate any temporary data stored in its cache. 

To force close the app, follow these steps:

iPhone

1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle. 
2. Find the Oura app and swipe up to close it.
3. Tap on the Home button to exit the app switcher.

Android

1. Tap on the Recent Apps button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Find the Oura app and swipe left or right to close it.
3. Tap on the Home button to exit the app switcher.

Note: Ensure your data has been successfully synchronized before force closing the app, especially if you want your sleep and activity to be up to date. 

4. Unpair and Re-Pair Your Ring with Your Smartphone

If force closing the app doesn’t work, unpair and re-pair your Oura ring with your smartphone.

This will reset the Bluetooth connection, resolving potential conflicts that prevent your ring from updating or syncing smoothly. 

Here’s how to do this:

iPhone

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on Bluetooth.
3. Locate your Oura ring in the list of connected devices.

5. Select Forget This Device and confirm.
6. Open the Oura app.
7. Tap on Connect Your Ring.

Android

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on Connections.
3. Select Bluetooth.
4. Locate your Oura ring in the list of paired devices.
5. Tap on the gear icon next to it.

5. Remove the Temporary Cache on the Oura App

1. Go to Settings.
