optus change of ownership

Wondering how to undergo Optus change of ownership? Well, keep reading to get informed!

Changing the ownership of an Optus account is sometimes necessary in business environments or due to personal requirements.

With the agreement of the current and the “future” owner, you can switch the identity of the Optus account (everything) and entirely assign it to someone else.

To change an Optus account’s ownership, visit an Optus store with the new owner or fill out the Optus’s change of ownership form. Wait for 3–5 business days until the account is assigned to the new owner.

Let’s learn more!

Is Change of Ownership Optus Possible?

is change of ownership optus possible

Yes, you can request the ownership of the Optus account to be changed with the agreement of the current and the future owner of the account.

You can send the request digitally or via face-to-face conversation with an Optus consultant agent at the official office.

If the contract’s requisition by both parties is successful, the new owner’s name will be assigned within 3 to 5 days of the deal’s conclusion.

How to Request Optus Ownership Change?

You can request a change of your Optus account’s ownership in the following ways:

  • By visiting an office and speaking with an agent face-to-face, the future owner and the current owner must be both present.
  • Contact Optus via phone after the current owner, with the help of the future owner, and the official Optus Change of Ownership form.

Note: For better clarity on all clauses of the deal, it’s best to visit a local Optus office!

Optus Change of Ownership – Easy Steps & Instructions

Tip: We got in-depth with both methods, so read the one you intend to go with!

Method #1 Request Change Over the Phone

method #1 request change over the phone

The easier way to request an Optus account ownership change is by contacting an Optus consultant over the phone.

However, there are quite a few steps, so let’s get started.

1. Get the Optus Ownership Form

If transferring your Optus account without physically visiting a store, you must fill out the Optus ownership change form and submit it to an agent.

The ownership form is publicly posted and can be downloaded by everyone on any device, even if you’re not an Optus client.

The ownership form uses a printable PDF format, but you can also fill out all the required details on your computer using photo editing software, even Windows Paint.

Here’s how to download the Change of Ownership form’s pdf file:

  1. Launch a web browser on the connected laptop or computer.
  2. Navigate to the Optus Change of Ownership to get a PDF file.
  3. Press on the “Download” button situated on the page’s top-right.
  4. Get your downloaded file from the browser’s “Downloads” folder.
Quick Tip: If you cannot find the browser’s “Downloads” page, look for the “Downloads” folder on the side menu of the “My PC” folder.

2. Prepare Your Ownership Form

Once you’ve downloaded the file and have access to the form on your computer or laptop, it’s time to fill out the required owner details.

As mentioned, you can print out all 4 lists within the PDF and use your phone to take pictures or complete the form lists digitally.

Here are the two possible methods to fill out Optus’s ownership change form:

How to Fill Out Optus Form Physically?

To fill out the form physically, all you need is a printer and a direct wired or wireless connection with the PC or laptop you’ve installed the PDF on.

Click “Print” on the top-right of the page and select your printer in the drop-down menu to begin.

Once all 4 of the documents are printed, you will hand-write the required information and take photos of the document with your mobile device’s camera.

Instead of printing it, you can upload the PDF files of the form into a convenience image editor, such as Photoshop, Windows Paint or any online service.

You only need to be able to add text to the images with a font that is suitable for documents such as Times New Roman or Ariel.

So, upload each picture and add a text box over each field, filling it with your information.

Note: It’s recommended to keep the (.pdf) file in this format!

3. Fill Out the Optus Form’s Details

Whether you’re filling out the form via your computer or physically, the information you must include remains specific.

There are a total of 4 information sections that will help the Optus agents with the ownership transfer and identifying the new and current owners.

Let’s quickly review each section!

[Part A] Transfer of the Service(s) – Old Owner
transfer of the service(s) - old owner

In the first “A” section, the current owner must fill out the necessary personal details, including the account’s name, contact number, and transferred services.

You will be provided with a table that you must use to describe each service that will be transferred.

[Part B] Mobile Phone Details – New Owner

This section must include details about the mobile phone’s details and must be filled out by the Optus contract’s new (future) owner.

It is required to include title, surname, first and middle names as well as business plan details of the new owner of the Optus contract.

[Part C] Application for Account – New Owner

The new owner must also fill out section “C” of the Optus ownership form and include contact details, postcode, and residential address.

By filling out this form, the new owner gives usage consent to Optus of his residential and mailing address.

[Part D] Agreement & Acceptance of Service – New Owner

The next section of the form includes a mutual agreement by both parties to use and review the specified Optus services earlier in the form.

The new owner must provide his signature, full name, birthdate, month and year for use by Optus during the transfer.

[Last Part] Transfer of Service(s) – New Owner

The last part of the form is to complete a full list of services to be transferred by filling out the mobile/account number, contract end date, directory listing and multiple requirements.

Only fill out the services activated for your Optus account.

Tip: Check the “Important Notice for New Owners” section on the last page of the form!

4. Submit the Form to Optus

Once the form is ready, you can message Optus directly and submit the digitally completed form or pictures through the Optus Mobile app.

You only need to click the “Start Chat” button on the page to tell the AI assistant you wish to contact an agent.

If you can’t connect with Optus online, you can even call them for guidance on continuing the ownership change.

How Long Will the Deal Take?

It heavily depends on whether there are complications or unclarified details about the transfer, but typically, an ownership change at Optus could take up to 5 business days.

You will learn about the deal’s status on the associated contact credentials via email or mobile phone.

Note: You must verify your identity before contacting an Optus agent.

Method #2 Visit a Local Optus Store

method #2 visit a local optus store

If you’re unclear about some of the transfer’s terms and wish to have a physical conversation with a consultant, visit an Optus store for ownership alteration.

So, for this purpose, the Optus plan’s current and future owners must be at the office to fill out the details in front of an agent.

The consultant will provide the same model of ownership form once you visit the store as the current or future owner of the Optus contract.

The Optus agent will guide you entirely through the procedure and provide you and the other owner with the necessary documents and details.

How Long Will the Physical Deal Last?

how long will the physical deal last

Ownership transfers achieved via physical meetings typically take one single visit, where all documents are filled and submitted to Optus via an agent.

But, in case of missing credentials or issues with the contract, the deal might get postponed for up to a week until the issue is fixed.

Note: It takes up to 5 business days until the new owner’s name is assigned to the documents!

Quick Recap:

To complete an Optus change of ownership, download the change of ownership form or visit a store physically.

After providing the necessary details, submit the form over your Optus app or visit an office with the future owner.
