2. Incompatible Network Settings
Mercedes-Benz can become a 3G WiFi hotspot that allows you to connect up to four devices. But, this feature is only available to select models.
3. Outdated Infotainment Software
An out-of-date infotainment software can become laggy and keep your in-car WiFi from working properly.
4. Temporary Glitches
Temporary bugs and glitches can also stop the WiFi from working. They can affect the vehicles’ MBUX infotainment systems.

How to Fix Mercedes-Benz WiFi Not Working
Start with the easiest yet most effective method before you fix your Mercedes-Benz WiFi problem with advanced solutions.
We recommend you restart the device connecting to your vehicle’s WiFi. Whether it’s a phone or tablet, switch it off, turn it back on and reconnect with your car.
Once your smartphone has restarted, toggle the WiFi off and on again. Doing so should fix temporary bugs and glitches that interfere with the connection.
If the problem persists, proceed with the following:
Solution #1: Forget Your Mercedes’ In-Car WiFi and Reconnect
Forgetting the in-car WiFi in your phone and connecting again refreshes your network connection.
It fixes temporary bugs and glitches that keep your WiFi from working.
This is something you’re going to perform on your phone or tablet as this resets the network connections and settings between it and the car.
Here’s how to do it:
- Open Settings.
- Select WiFi.
- Tap and hold the Mercedes In-car WiFi.
- Select Forget Network.
- Reconnect by entering your username and password.
Note: If forgetting the Mercedes-Benz’s WiFi does not work, proceed to the next solution.
Solution #2: Restart Your In-Car Infotainment System
Restarting your in-car infotainment system can solve many problems, including the WiFi not working.
Your Mercedes is not just any other car since you can control the infotainment system separately.
You don’t even have to restart the vehicle. All you need to do is press a couple of buttons and wait for the system to reboot.
Then, follow these steps:
- Hold the Favorite and Telephone button down.
- Wait for 10 seconds each.
- You will see the Mercedes-Benz logo on your screen.
- Wait for it to reset.
Note: Start with this step if you run some issue with your MBUX.
Solution #3: Activate Your In-Car Hotspot
If the above solutions don’t work, check if you’ve activated your in-car hotspot.
First, deactivate your in-car hotspot, then turn off your car. Activate it again and see if it fixes the issue.
Doing this resets your car’s computer and shuts down all of its systems allowing it to restart fresh minus the bugs and glitches.

- Go to Menu and select System > Connectivity.
- Tap Set up a hotspot, then choose Activate vehicle hotspot.
- Once activated, tap Connect device to vehicle hotspot.
- The connection information should be displayed on the screen.
Note: Once connected, you will be re-connected automatically every time you get in your car.
Solution #4: Update Your MBUX Infotainment System Software
If the cause of the problem is outdated infotainment software, there is only one way to resolve it. Update your MBUX software to fix bugs and get security patches.
Some Mercedes models offer over-the-air software updates, so you don’t have to worry about driving to your nearest service center.

- Click the Home button to get to the main screen.
- Scroll all the way to the right to see Settings.
- Tap Settings and click System.

Solution #5: Reset Your MBUX to Factory Settings

Here’s how to restore your MBUX to default settings:
- Using the touchpad, go to Settings.
- Select System and scroll all the way down.
- Select Reset.
- Tap Yes if you’re sure that you want to reset your MBUX.
- All data will be erased, and your MBUX will go back to factory settings.
Note: A hard reset will erase all data you saved, including your navigations, radio stations, profiles, themes, and more.
Solution #6: Reset Your Phone’s Network Settings
If you’ve done everything to your vehicle side but you still cannot connect to your in-car hotspot, the issue may lie with your phone’s network settings.
In this case, reset your phone’s network settings and see if it clears the problem.
How to reset your phone’s network settings:
Android:
- Go to Settings > System.
- Tap Advanced, then Reset Options.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
- Tap Reset Settings.
iPhone:
- Tap Settings > General.
- Click Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: When you reset your phone’s network settings, previously used networks will be removed. Your WiFi will turn off and on, disconnecting you from any network.
