How to Fix Mediacom Keeps Disconnecting
Before we move on to more elaborate solutions, starting with the basics is always best.
Your Mediacom Internet keeps disconnecting due to connectivity issues. A quick restart of the modem and router will refresh your connection and eliminate temporary bugs and glitches.
To restart your modem and router, turn them off, then turn them on again by pressing the power button.
If a simple restart does not solve the issue, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Solution #1: Power Cycle Your Networking Equipment
Power cycling is a more advanced form of restart that discharges your networking equipment completely.
This should remove bugs and glitches in your device’s memory and keep returning every time you turn on your modem or router.
If you know all the cables are fine, try power cycling the entire network of your devices.
Start with the hardware providing you with Internet access – your modem.

- Turn off your device, modem, and router.

- Wait for at least 30 seconds.

Check at which port the two devices connect. Their connection should be made using the WAN ports on both devices.
There are instances when the modem is plugged into one of the LAN ports, and this can also work but is not as stable as if it’s connected to the WAN port.

- Login to your router’s web interface.
- Go to the Wireless Settings option on your router.
- Change the band from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz.
- Set the channels to 100 and 140.
- Click on Apply to save the settings.

Solution #5: Change the Wireless Modes on Your Mediacom Router
Apart from changing the channels, you can also look at the different wireless modes that your Mediacom router can use.
These modes are classified as letters, but there are differences between them. Some are going to be much faster, while others are going to offer more stable internet.

Here’s how to change the wireless modes on your router:
- Log in to your router’s web interface.
- Select the Wireless Settings menu.
- Navigate to Wireless Modes.
- Choose B/G/N for your 2.4 GHz connection.
- Specify A/AC/N for your 5 GHz connection.

Solution #6: Reset Your Mediacom Modem to Factory Settings

- Press and hold it for at least 10 seconds.
