ITVX continue watching not working, or is the option missing?
Well, this is an issue that ITVX is aware of, which is still under development and bug-fixing, and affects different devices and users.
Sadly, there is no known way to fix the issue permanently, but we show you a couple of practical and easy steps as a temporary workaround.
When ITVX continues watching is not working, re-open the ITVX app, inspect your WiFi and internet connection and check for any updates. If the issue continues, then remove and reinstall the ITVX cleanly, and then test whether the issue also appears from the web.

Why ITVX Can’t Continue Watching?
This is a known problem, both by the ITV team and the community.
Unfortunately, there is still no clear indication of when and why the issue appears.
Recently, there was an official statement by ITVX that they are aware of and actively investigating the continue-watching app problem.
On the other hand, they also claim that you can resume watching from the continue watching section in the app.
Well, many people claim that ITVX continue-watching simply disappeared.
ITVX Continue Watching Disappeared?
Sometimes, the section is entirely not there; other times, the tab is empty, and you can’t resume where you’ve left off.
The only piece of information we’ve found is from users with Sony TV, where the “continue watching” disappeared from the main screen due to platform maintenance.
We assume that the same also happened on other ITVX app TV platforms.
However, many sources claim that they’ve managed to solve the issue, so in this guide, you’ll find the best working solutions.
How to Fix When ITVX Continue Watching Not Working?
Tip: Try all of the solutions below!
1. Force-Close the ITVX Application!
When the ITVX continue watching feature is not working, the first and easiest step is to restart the app and then test.
The safest way to verify that you’ve entirely exited the app would be to restart your ITVX playout device.
Another good suggestion would be to power cycle your device (if possible) by unplugging it from the power, which is an excellent way to refresh all apps.
Note: Verify that you’re using the official ITVX app!
2. Sign Out & In Your ITVX Account
Another quick and effective way to deal with ITVX’s continuing watching issues would be to sign out and in your account.
This will refresh your account, preferences, and of course, any shows that weren’t accounted for yet; hence they won’t appear in the continue watching section.
This problem mainly appears when you stream ITVX on a different device, and the information is still not reflected on your other devices. Favourite
By signing out and into your ITVX account, your account will be refreshed.
So if you’ve watched ITVX shows on a different device, they should now appear under “Continue Watching.”
Tip: Verify that your ITVX subscription is ongoing!
3. Uninstall & Install the ITVX App!
Sometimes, the continue watching feature in the ITVX app is not working due to missing data or file corruption on your device.
The best way to address such a possibility is to clear and reinstall the ITVX application cleanly on your playout device.
Here’s a universal guide on how to reinstall ITVX on most devices:
- On smart TV, open Settings and go to “Apps.”
- On mobile, tap and hold the ITVX app icon.
- Verify that the ITVX app is entirely uninstalled.
- Then download the ITVX app from the app store:
- On iOS – download ITVX from the App Store.
- On Android – download ITVX from the Google Play Store.
- On Xbox – download ITVX from the Microsoft Store.
- On Firestick – download ITVX from the Amazon Store.
- On Roku – add the ITVX channel from the Channel Store.
When the ITVX app is cleanly reinstalled on your playout device, sign into your account and test whether you can continue watching.
If you still can’t continue watching, play a TV show or movie for 5 minutes and then check whether the app will now remember the time-stamp and resume.
Info: Some users claim that only a few, and not all, ITVX shows appear under the “continue watching” section in the app.
4. Verify Your Device’s Internet & WiFi
Perhaps, you’re unavailable to continue watching your ITVX shows because your WiFi or internet connection is slow or inconsistent.
So, if your device is currently offline, then this is the reason why the “continue watching” tab in the ITVX app is empty.
So, a quick way to resolve network issues on your device is to reconnect your ITVX playout to the WiFi and verify that your internet is intact.
So, test your internet speed connection and reconnect the ITVX device to the WiFi.
In addition, use a secondary device to verify that your WiFi is operational and your ITVX is currently online.
Quick Fact: ITVX requires a minimum of 1 Mbps internet speed for streaming!
5. Continue Watching from the Web
As we’ve mentioned earlier, ITVX is currently working to resolve the continue-watching issue, and in case nothing helps, perhaps it’s inevitable.
A good workaround would be to test from the ITVX web portal, where you can stream anything on any computer and operating system.
- Open Google Chrome and go to itv.com.
- Then, sign into your ITVX account profile.
- Select any TV show or movie to stream.
- After 5 minutes, stop the show and exit.
- Re-open the show to continue watching.
Note: When ready, test whether the show will appear in the ITVX app’s “continue watching” section.
6. Test on a Different Playout Device!
If you cannot continue watching from where you’ve left off on ITVX, it’s time to accept that the problem might be unsolvable on your device.
Test whether ITVX “continue watching” is working on other devices!
ITVX is available on many devices, including Android, iOS, Xbox, Fire TV, Roku TV, and web browsers.
So, test whether you can at least find the timestamp on the ITVX show using another device and then skip the content manually on your preferred playout device.
7. Know Your Time Stamps (Workaround)
If it turns out that the ITVX app “continue watching” is not working on your playout device, well, you need to have a workaround solution.
One way to keep track would be always to note the time stamp of the show so you can later turn on the episode and manually resume viewing.
If you’re the type of person who falls asleep during the shows, well, even the continue-watching feature wouldn’t help.
Alternatively, you can only note the episode you’ve watched last and then manually go through the duration to find a recollection of the last thing you remember viewing.
Will there be a Bugfix?
As we’ve mentioned, ITVX is aware of and working on the solution for the “continue watching” feature on all devices, but it’s unclear when.
We recommend checking for updates for the ITVX app as frequently as possible, and sooner or later, this problem will be addressed. Best of luck!
Quick Recap:
When ITVX continue watching not working on your device, force-close the ITVX app and sign out and in your account.
In case that doesn’t help, uninstall the ITVX app, then verify that your internet/WiFi is working, and, finally, perform a clean ITVX app reinstallation.
