How to Unmute ATT Uverse Box? Complete Steps
To successfully unmute your AT&T U-verse box, follow these detailed steps carefully:
Step #1: Restart or Power Cycle the Receiver
The first step is to try and restart your U-verse box. You can do it by pressing and holding the power button for about ten (10) seconds, or by doing it manually, which is the method that most experts prefer:
- Unplug the receiver from power for about 20 to 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cable back in again.
- Then, wait for about 5 minutes for the system to reinitialize.
Step #2: Check the Mute Button of the Remote
After that, what you have to do next is to check your remote control and see if the [MUTE] button is pressed.
This is one of the most common culprits of why you’re not your TV is not producing any audio. You can also check the [VOLUME DOWN] button to see if it’s pressed.
Step #3: Check for Loose Cables/Connections
Then, go to your U-verse box and check if there are any cables & wires that are loose. Better yet, unplug them and plug them in again to the ports to be sure.
This can include the HDMI cable, the power cord, and all other cables that are connected/linked to the receiver
Step #4: Double-Check the Input or the Source of the TV
After that, check and see if your television’s on the correct source or input. The audio/video (AV) function of the TV is dependent on the source/input that it’s on.
If you’re under the incorrect source, you won’t just have audio, you’ll have no video, too!
Step #5: Try a Different Channel
When you’re sure that you are on the correct input, try tuning to another channel. There are channels and networks that have limits on the volume, so that could be where the problem is.
Furthermore, some channels undergo maintenance and service repairs every now and then, so, the problem could be with the network or the channel, and not your box.
Step #6: Power Cycle Your Gateway or Router
Lastly, experts perceive that restarting the router or the gateway was one of the few, but effective ways of solving this problem.
The process of power cycling your gateway/router is the same as how you power cycle your ATT U-verse box. You simply have to unplug it from power for about half a minute, and then plug it back in again.
NOTE: Doing this will disrupt all internet activity of the devices connected to it for about three (3) to five (5) minutes.
By following this 6-step process thoroughly, you can expect your U-verse box to be free from the audio or the sound issues it was giving you.
Many people reported to have found success after performing these steps, so try it out yourself!
