Wondering how to undivert Telstra landline? It’s very quick and easy, so let’s get started!
Telstra’s call forwarding (call divert) feature is an excellent way to receive landline phone calls, even when you’re away.
The feature works by redirecting the calls to another number, providing three decent options including “Immediate,” “Busy” and “No Answer.”
In this guide, we’ll learn how to undivert and disable call forwarding on Telstra landline, as well as how to manage the options. Let’s learn more…
Let’s learn more about how exactly to cancel all Telstra diverts!
What is Telstra Landline Call-Forwarding?
The call forwarding feature on Telstra’s landline is an effective way to manage incoming calls by enabling one of three different rules that suits you best.
- Immediate – The immediate call-forwarding will redirect the call to another number the device carrying this number will ring. With the immediate call forwarding, the landline phone never rings, and all the calls are redirected.
- When Busy – The busy call-forwarding will only redirect your incoming calls when you’re on the line. If you’re busy, the secondary call will get forwarded to the preset number, and the destination device will ring.
- No Answer – The no-answer forwarding feature only redirects incoming calls when the dial time expires hence, the landline was not answered. Most users prefer this feature to prevent missing important calls.
You can have these features enabled or disabled based on your preference. Let’s learn more!
Can You Cancel All Diverts Telstra Landline?
Yes, it’s entirely possible to cancel all Telstra diverts (call-forwarding) and have none of the aforementioned options activated.
If you can’t recall which of the three options you’ve previously enabled, it’s recommended to disable all of them.
This happens quickly, but you need to perform the process for each of them individually and verify that each option has been disabled manually.
Let’s learn how to cancel all Telstra landline diverts!
How to Undivert Telstra Landline? – (Instant Cancellation)
If you can’t recall which exact call-forwarding rule is currently enabled, we recommend going over all steps and disabling all three options.
The cancellation happens by calling, so verify the landline phone is working and that you’re hearing the dial tone, which means you’re connected.
How to Undivert Landline Telstra *Immediate*?
If Telstra’s landline calls are being immediately redirected to another number, you can disable this type of divert by following the steps below:
- Lift the landline’s handset.
- Wait to hear the dial tone.
- On the handset, dial “#21#”.
- Then, hang up the handset.
This should instantly disable Telstra’s immediate call diverting. Your calls will not be diverted to a different number, and the landline will ring.
How to Undivert Landline Telstra *When Busy*?
If your Telstra landline calls are being diverted only when you’re busy (on another call), then you can disable the divert by following these steps:
- Pick up the landline’s handset.
- Proceed only after the dial tone.
- On your landline, dial “#24#”.
- Finally, hang up the handset.
If you’ve successfully disabled the busy-forwarding, in case of a second call, the caller will be put on hold by the “Call Waiting” feature.
Tip: You can learn more about “Call Waiting” in the guide!
How to Undivert Landline Telstra *No Answer*?
If your Telstra calls are forwarded only when the landline phone hasn’t been picked up, you must disable the feature by following the steps below:
- Get the landline’s handset.
- Wait until you hear the tone.
- On your handset, dial “#61#”.
- Lastly, hang up the handset.
That’s how easy it is to undivert Telstra’s landline call forwarding, so all calls should behave as per their default rules.
From now on, all calls in your landline’s direction will end up ringing on the landline set and won’t be diverted to other numbers.
However, remember that without the “No Answer” call-forwarding option, you must be on-site to get the calls, and you’ll probably miss some of them.
If you can’t afford to miss important calls, we recommend learning how to enable the feature you need.
Do You Need to Undivert All Telstra’s Calls?
Did you know you don’t need to disable all Telstra landline diverts?
You can stop all and re-enable the one that suits your situation and requirements.
For example, many users wouldn’t want all the calls instantly diverted or redirected when the landline is busy.
That’s why they prefer the first two options disabled and only keep the “No Answer” feature enabled.
This allows them to pick up calls, even when away from Telstra’s landline handset.
How to Enable Only “Immediate” Divert?
- If you want all your Telstra landline incoming calls to be diverted to another number, such as your mobile, dial “*21”.
How to Enable Only “When Busy” Divert?
- If you don’t want your customers waiting on the phone line when busy, forward their call to a different number by dialling “*24”.
How to Enable Only “No Answer” Divert?
- To prevent missing essential calls while away from the landline handset, divert your calls when busy by dialling “*61”.
You can enable the option that suits you best and disable the options you don’t need.
This is an excellent way to manage incoming calls and ensure never to miss an important one.
Quick Tip: To enable the feature, add “*” (star symbol) before the dedicated number, and to stop and disable the feature, add a “#” (hashtag symbol) on each side.
How to Turn ON/OFF Telstra “Call Waiting”?
The “Call Waiting” feature is available in most Australian regions and is enabled by default on your Telstra landline.
The feature is designed to notify you of an incoming call while you’re on the phone, so you can answer the new call by putting the current call on hold or just hanging up.
To turn off the Call Waiting, dial (#43#), and to turn on the feature, dial (43#).
When enabled, you can choose what happens in case of a secondary call by pressing the “Talk,” “Flash”, or “Recall” buttons on your handset.
Here’s how it works:
- To answer/switch calls, press Talk/Flash/Recall and then “2”.
- To hang up and answer, press Talk/Flash/Recall and then “1”.
- To reject the second call, press Talk/Flash/Recall and then “0”.
This is everything about the Telstra Call Waiting feature, so adjust according to your preference.
Remember that you can always disable the Call Waiting or enable only the feature that you will benefit from.
The same goes for the call forwarding and which incoming calls will be redirected.
Why Can’t I Disable Telstra Landline Divert?
If you’ve tried calling all three (#21#), (#24#), and (#61#), but your Telstra landline calls are still being diverted, you’re probably dealing with a signal issue.
If your landline phone is not connected to Telstra’s services, your undivert calling won’t work.
Verify that you hear the dial tone before dialling the call-forwarding cancellation number, or the request won’t go through.
If you don’t hear the dial tone, reconnect your Telstra landline phone and reset your handset (if possible), which should restore your signal to undivert your landline.
In case of a landline signal issue, you can check for ongoing landline outages that may affect your region.
Try calling someone on your Telstra landline to verify that you’re fully connected.
Let’s Recap: How to Undivert Telstra Landline?
To undivert Telstra’s landline “Immediate” forwarding, dial (#21#), to cancel the “When Busy” forwarding, dial (#24#), and to stop the “No Answer” divert, dial (#61#).
