If you don’t want to store your messages online, you need to know how to turn off AT&T messages backup and sync.
This service can slow down your messaging and increase the risk of other people reading your texts when enabled.
We present you with 5 surefire ways to turn off this feature to avoid this issue.
Turning off the AT&T Messages Backup & Sync service on your smartphone is easy. Simply go to the Message settings and select AT&T Messages Backup & Sync. Then, choose Stop Backup and press OK to confirm. Your device will stop backing up your texts and storing them in the cloud.
While Backup and Sync allow you to access your texts online, they come with a few disadvantages.
Some of the reasons you need to disable the feature include:
Slow Messaging Experience
The AT&T Messages Backup & Sync service can slow down your messaging experience when enabled.
It continuously floods your device with old messages and contacts, which can be frustrating.
By turning off the feature, you don’t have to manually re-delete a ton of your contacts every time.
You cannot guarantee your privacy if you don’t turn off the AT&T Backup and Sync feature.
Other people may be able to read your messages, especially those who have your cloud login credentials.
A good example is parents using the service to keep an eye on their children.
Monitoring children, particularly minors, is fine, but some may use it to spy on others.
Improve Your Personal Security
When you enable the AT&T Backup and Sync service, your personal security may be at risk.
It is no longer safe to send your account details and PINs through text.
When stored in the AT&T cloud, other people might view private conversations and pictures that they can use against you.
Stop storing your texts and pictures online by turning off AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.
With the service enabled, you may be able to access your sent and received messages, but so can others.
Note: On the first time that you run the app, you are given the choice to use the feature or not. Do not accept it if you don’t want to use it.
Anyway, you can enable it anytime by heading to your messaging app’s Settings, then go to AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.
