How to Set Up Setek WiFi Range Extender?
The steps we are about to review are related to the setup process of your Setek WiFi extender.
The guide includes a chronological list of instructions that you must follow carefully to get your WiFi extender hooked up with the network device.
Let’s jump right in with the first method!
Method 1. Use the WPS Button
Using the WPS button to set up your Setek WiFi range extender is the most approachable method by far.
Using this method will allow you to finish the setup without using a computer.
Step #1 Connect Extender to Power
In order to make the Setek range extender discoverable, it must be connected to a power outlet.
This is why your first setup would be to hook up your extender to an electrical outlet somewhere in your household.
Plug in the Setek WiFi extender only into electrical outlets that are proven to work!
There are designated electrical poles coming out of the extender that will connect with the electrical outlet of your choice.
The device’s LED should come on as soon as you’ve plugged it into the outlet as an indication that it’s working. After this, we can proceed further!
Notice: The Setek WiFi extender must be plugged tightly into the outlet to receive power.
Step #2 Press Router’s WPS Button
Now that your Setek WiFi extender is receiving sufficient power, your next task is to press the router’s WPS button.
This will allow the router to hook up with the range extender. The WPS button is located on the back of the device.
Press the WPS button once on the back of your router for 2 seconds.
The WPS light should immediately blink, meaning that the network device is currently searching for other wireless connections.
The next thing you have to do is tie up the wireless connection between both devices by pressing the WPS button on your extender as well.
Note: If the WPS light of your router doesn’t blink, you must press the button again.
Step #3 Enable the Extender’s WPS
Within 50 seconds of pressing the router’s WPS button, the button on your Setek WiFi extender must also be pressed.
This is the only way to wirelessly hook up both of the devices and make the extender work.
Locate and press the WPS button on your Setek extender device’s hardware.
Your Setek WiFi extender will blink as a result of pressing the WPS button, which means that the wireless scanner has been enabled.
It is important to press the extender’s WPS button within 50 seconds of pressing the router’s one. In case you’ve failed, try again!
Note: If your Setek WiFi extender doesn’t blink, the WPS mode is not yet enabled.
Step #4 Wait for the Extender to Reboot
Finally, you must wait for the restart that will follow up on your Setek WiFi extender.
If the router and extender have located each other through the WPS function, the Setek device will restart, as a result of the successful connection.
Do not interfere with the extender while it is rebooting or this may cancel the connection process of your extender. In case the operation failed, feel free to attempt again!
Tip: If your extender reboots without getting connected to the router, press the WPS button 3 times. This will cause the extender to re-scan for devices.
Method 2. Use a PC or a Laptop
The second method for how to set up Setek WiFi extender is to accomplish it with a PC or a laptop that will help the connection.
You will have to use a cable connection for this type of setup to connect the extender to your personal computer or laptop device.
Let’s begin with the wired Setek extender setup!
Step #1 Connect the Extender to PC/Laptop
Wiring your Setek WiFi extender to a PC or laptop you own is essential to the second method.
On each desktop device, there is a LAN port (Ethernet cable port) that you will be using for the connection.
Acquire an Ethernet cable and connect it to the extender and plug it into your device!
The LAN port will start blinking in a specific pattern if it recognizes your Setek extender.
If you see the blinking, then you will know that the connection was successful and the extender is now hooked up to your computer or laptop.
Let’s proceed further!
Note: Ensure that the Ethernet cable is secured on both the extender and the PC/laptop.
Step #2 Acquire the Default Gateway
In an overview, to connect the extender you must access your router’s settings.
In order to access the router’s settings, you must acquire the Default Gateway Address of your network and then paste it into your online browser.
Here’s how to acquire your network’s default gateway in easy steps:
- On the PC/laptop that you connected the extender to, open the Command Prompt.
- Once in the CMD, type “ipconfig” and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
- Scroll down in the results and locate the row that begins with “ipconfig”.
- Next to “Default Gateway:” copy the value IP of the network’s gateway.
Note: The default gateway usually begins with 192.168.X.X and the rest is network-specific.
Step #3 Enter Router Settings
Now that you have the default gateway, you will be able to access the router’s settings using the address.
You will need a browser on your PC or laptop in order to access those settings and enable your Setek extender from there.
