If you have experienced cable or service provider issues, you may be wondering how to reboot Altice One box. The Altice One box helps reduce clutter by combining several functions into one device.
Instead of needing multiple hardware devices for television and internet services, the Altice One box consolidated these functions by acting as a wireless router, modem, and cable box.
It also helps you access streaming content with integrated apps for common streaming services like YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix. In addition, it allows you to access recorded DVR programming and on-demand streaming services.
If you experience problems connecting to the internet or television content, you may need to reboot it from time to time.
However, note that rebooting the box is only the first step at troubleshooting a connection; there could be many different underlying problems preventing a successful connection.
Rebooting Altice One Box
One of the easiest ways to reboot an Altice One box is to simply power cycle it. When you shut it off, it resets everything in volatile memory, otherwise known as RAM (Random Access Memory).
If there was a memory leak or other memory issue, a power cycle will completely clear the RAM.
However, you do have to wait long enough for the power cycle to finish completely. Start by simply removing power from the Altice One box.
Most device manufacturers recommend waiting for 60 seconds, though you can wait up to two minutes just to be on the safe side.
However, note that power cycling the box will disrupt Wi-Fi connections. This could cause undesirable disconnections for every wireless device connected to your box.
How to Reboot Altice One Cable Box
You may want to restart the Altice One box because of poor Wi-Fi connectivity. However, troubleshooting wireless connectivity doesn’t necessarily mean that the box is at fault.
In some instances, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may simply be experiencing a service outage.
In addition, you may have poor wireless connectivity due to where you physically placed the box.
If you installed it in a cabinet or behind obstructive objects such as concrete, doors, or metal objects, restarting the Altice One box won’t improve wireless connection speeds.
Nevertheless, to restart the box, use the following steps:
- Disconnect the box’s power cable.
- Disconnect the box’s coaxial cable.
- Wait for two minutes.
- Reconnect the coaxial cable.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Wait as the Altice One box reestablishes a connection.
After the rebooting procedure has been completed, test the wireless connection with your device in close proximity to the Altice One box.
Note: If your device successfully connects to the wireless signal but you still don’t have an internet connection, the issue is likely an outage through your provider.
Altice Cable Box Still Not Working After Reboot?
If even after the rebooting procedure has been completed, you are not getting the internet connection, follow these steps to fix the issue:
Check Physical Cable Connections
Your Altice One box may have lost a connection due to physical cabling problems.
For instance, a pet or rodent could have chewed through the cabling. When you power cycle the box, be sure to check for any damaged cables.
Other times, a cable may simply be too old. You may have to replace a frayed coaxial cable to reconnect your box. In addition, when you reboot the Altice One box, be sure to check for loose connections.
Coaxial cable connectors generally aren’t easy to install incorrectly; nevertheless, you need to ensure that the cable is tight. Screw the connector clockwise as far as it will go until you feel firm resistance.
Press the Network Reset Button
You can also restart the Altice One box by using the NETWORK RESET button. It is a small black button located on the back of the device above the TV/OUT cable.
The button is slightly depressed into the metal housing, so you may need to use a screwdriver or a pen to press the button.
When you restart the router, make sure to hold the button down for at least 10 seconds.
Also, note that when using this method, you should not unplug the power or coaxial cables. Doing so will interrupt the restart procedure.
Furthermore, note that the procedure is automatic. After holding the button down for 10 seconds, simply wait for the process to finish on its own.
Depending on the connection to Optimum, you may have to wait for up to 60 seconds as it reacquires a signal.
Check Wireless Speeds
If you are experiencing low wireless speeds, rebooting the Altice One box may not fix the root cause for several reasons.
First of all, you can run a speed test to ensure you’re getting the full bandwidth limit from Optimum.
Furthermore, you may just be maxing out the bandwidth. If you have too many users online at the same time streaming videos or initiating large file transfers, your internet speed may feel too slow.
Additionally, you may have a slow wireless signal due to interference.
Typical causes of wireless interference include other wireless networks (such as a close neighbor’s device), radio devices (such as walkie-talkies and baby monitors), and microwave ovens.
Note: If your Altice One box is experiencing wireless interference, you will either need to move it to a new location or eliminate the root cause of the interference.
A system reboot will not solve interference issues.
Contacting Support
If worse comes to worst, you can always contact the support department. The general toll-free support number is 1-800-291-8564.
However, there are different customer lines per region; calling may result in frustrating call transfers to different regional support departments.
Alternatively, you can visit the support website for information regarding billing. After having rebooted your Altice One box, if you still can’t get a connection, you may have a billing problem.
There is also a direct messaging service on the support page. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, it’s just another common chatbot system that will refer a customer to either a web page or support number.

Bottom Line
Knowing how to reboot Altice One box helps fix intermittent connection issues. If your Altice One box isn’t providing a television signal or wireless connectivity, there are several ways to reboot.
The first is simply unplugging the power cord and waiting before plugging it back in.
The second method is to disconnect the power and coaxial cable, being sure to check the coaxial cable is securely fastened before reconnecting the power cable.
And finally, if you are experiencing wireless connectivity issues, you can always use the black NETWORK RESET button located on the back of the device.
If all else fails, you may have a service outage and you would need to contact Optimum’s support staff.
