Both techies and those who are not technically inclined have wondered how to connect Optimum remote to TV.
It may seem like a simple process on the surface, but there are a wide variety of Optimum remotes, and they each have their own little quirks and differences throughout the connection process.
I would like to point out, however, that when pairing your Optimum remote with a four-digit number, the configuration process varies slightly because each brand of TV has a different code.
If you don’t already know this code, you will need to search through manufacturer documentation or search for the information online.
Keep in mind that when pairing an Optimum remote, it is a best practice to have first disabled and disconnected other remotes. Otherwise, there could be a conflict between different remote signals.
Today we are going to take a closer look at the top five ways on how to connect Optimum remote to TV.
The configuration procedures are short and simple, though do be aware that some of the configuration steps could vary depending on the remote you are trying to connect.
No matter what type or model of remote you are pairing with your Optimum TV, it is important to remember the following:
- Make sure the remote is close to the TV
- Use the proper frequency (IR or RF)
- Ensure other remotes are unpaired and disconnected
- Allow the remote a direct line of sight with the TV
Most of the various connection procedures only have 6-10 steps. In addition, they’re quick and almost effortless.
It’s reasonable to expect the pairing process to take less than a minute if you’re good at following instructions, too.
Furthermore, note that if you make a mistake and don’t follow the instructions accurately, there’s nothing to worry about.
If you accidentally skip a step, it won’t damage your television or ruin other configurations and settings on your television.
At any rate, the following outline the details of pairing your remote:
One feature of the Altice Optimum remotes loved by many users is its voice search capabilities. However, note that you have to use a Bluetooth connection to use this feature.
Plus, this remote operational range is fairly large because you can use it up to 10 yards away from the receiver.
The following outlines the basic steps to pair your remote:
- Locate your remote’s A button.
- Navigate to the home screen.
- Select the settings and remote option.
- Find and select the paired remote to Altice One option.
- Select the remote control option.
- Wait until the process completes automatically.
Note: A dialogue box will pop up automatically indicating the success or failure of the pairing procedure.
The auto-search remote pairing option is more universal, and the same steps apply to several different makes and models of Optimum remotes.
If none of the other methods worked for your specific model of remote, I would recommend defaulting to the auto-search method.
The configuration process may look scarier because it’s longer, but don’t worry; it’s as simple to perform as the previous method.
- For three seconds, hold the power button and volume button.
- Press down then depress the 1 button.
- Turn off the television by pressing the TV button.
- Push the select button.
- Test your newly paired remote.
Note: Some functions and features of the remote may be dysfunctional, including, but not limited to, power, volume, and mute. If so, see Solution #3.
To successfully complete this pairing method, you’re going to need a special four-digit code that is unique to your television manufacturer or brand.
These codes are common among universal remotes. If you wanted to pair another universal remote with your television, you would need to use the same code.
However, please be aware that not all brands of televisions are compatible with Optimum remotes or universal remotes in general.
Nevertheless, you’ll find that all of the most popular brands and mainstream television manufacturers are compatible.
And fortunately, the configuration process is shorter than the previous method. The following details each step of the process:
- Power on your television set.
- Simultaneously hold down the select and power buttons.
- Wait three seconds.
- Punch in the four-digit code of your TV brand.
- Test the remote control.
Note: In some instances, you will need to repeat Step 2 and Step 4 if they did not work on the first try.
In addition, double-check that you have the correct four-digit code for your brand of television.
The next configuration process is handy if you want to pair a new Optimum remote or other universal remote to replace an old one.
But before you can pair a new remote to your television, it’s a good idea to first unpair the old remote.
Fortunately, unpairing a remote is a snap. In fact, you only have to press two buttons and follow three steps to complete the process, as follows:
- Simultaneously push the 7 button and the 9 button.
- Wait for three seconds.
- Now the remote is in infrared (IR) mode.
Note: After completing step three, you can now pair it with different cable boxes.
Last, but not least, is the pairing procedure used to connect a silver Optimum remote that has the iO button.
The configuration steps may look lengthy, but I would hazard a guess that it would take most people a minute or two to complete the process.
The steps are as follows:
- Turn your television set on.
- Press down the SEL and TV buttons.
- Wait three seconds.
- Enter the three-digit code.
- Press the mute button.
- Push down the TV button.
As most people would agree, the process of pairing a remote by using the remote control’s buttons is a painless and straightforward process.
The only potentially difficult part, in my opinion, is finding the four-digit code, though you may be able to find that information in your TV’s user manual if you couldn’t find it online.

To connect Optimum remote, most remote pairing procedures involve holding down two or more buttons at the same time. If you accidentally hold down the wrong button, turn off your TV, wait at least 10 seconds, and reattempt the pairing procedure.
After reviewing the configuration steps, you should now have a good understanding of how to connect Optimum remote to TV.
I doubt that even people who think they have poor skills with technology would find these pairing instructions challenging.
But, if worse comes to worst and you cannot pair your remote, remember you always have a fallback option, which is contacting customer support.
