More About Giffgaff SIM Transfer…
Transferring your Giffgaff number to a brand new SIM card is possible, as long as that SIM card is from Giffgaff.
Switching to another carrier will neither use nor old Giffgaff number nor the account that you manage your subscription through.
In other words, keeping your number with the new SIM is possible, as long as you’re still using Giffgaff as a carrier. Otherwise, the operation is not going to work!
Switching your Giffgaff SIM is only required when the old one was damaged
Each Giffgaff SIM you receive with your new subscription will come with an activation code that you could input into the Swap Feature.
This feature can be found within the Giffgaff website (or mobile application) and will transfer your number and account to the new SIM.
Let’s next learn more about the Giffgaff SIM transfer process and how it works!
How to Transfer Giffgaff Number to New Giffgaff SIM?
Keep in mind that there’s no need to switch your SIM card each time you manage your Giffgaff subscription.
If the current one is still functional and connects with cellular, the new physical “copy” of your SIM doesn’t have to be inserted into a mobile.
- The SIM swap process could take up to several hours on Giffgaff’s end.
Let’s now transfer your Giffgaff number to a new SIM card!
Step #1 Save New SIM Card Code
The first and most important task is to either memorise or Save the New SIM Code!
This code is essential for performing the swap later and will be required in one of the prompts. This SIM code can be found on the new SIM package, printed on the front.
It contains 6-digits that work as the card’s activation, later in the Giffgaff app. You should write down the code on a piece of paper or on your smartphone!
Once the code is saved, proceed to the next step!
Note: Since there’s also a 14-digit code, make sure to save the one with 6 digits ONLY!
Step #2 Access Giffgaff Website/App
Once you have the new SIM card’s code, you should open a Giffgaff Source.
Whether you’re going to use the website or the mobile application is not important, as long as you can access your account settings.
Managing your Giffgaff and more importantly, SIM settings is possible through the platform and the official online website. Let’s learn more!
To access the Giffgaff website:
- Open a browser.
- Press the search field.
- Input “giffgaff.com”.
- Press “Enter”.
To access the Giffgaff mobile app:
- Enter your device’s App Store.
- Download the Giffgaff App.
- Wait for it to install.
- Open the application.
After choosing the Giffgaff source that you’re going to use, make sure that you’re at the login screen before proceeding further. We now have to sign in!
Note: If using the Giffgaff mobile app, ensure it is using the latest software version!
Step #3 Sign in to your Giffgaff Account
In order to have your number transferred to a new SIM, you must log in through the Giffgaff account that has your number and SIM information.
Only through there, you’ll be able to trigger a swap process and have your number moved to a brand new Giffgaff SIM card.
In that set of thoughts, your next step is to log in to Giffgaff.
Let’s learn how:
- On the Giffgaff login page, tap the “Username” field.
- Insert the username provided by the carrier.
- Press on the “Password” field.
- Type down the password associated with the Giffgaff username.
- Hit the “Login” button.
- Wait to be signed into Giffgaff.
The credentials you have to use have been sent by Giffgaff in an email you provided back when you subscribed to the service. You should be able to find them in your email inbox.
Note: Pay attention to any symbols and capital letters in your Giffgaff password.
Step #4 Navigate to the Giffgaff Dashboard
In order to access your Giffgaff SIM card settings, you must first go to the Account Dashboard.
- Simply press on “dashboard” in the Giffgaff app/website for the details!
This is the command panel of your Giffgaff account, where you’ll get all information about pending payments and subscription details.
You’ll also have access to the SIM card control tab, through which you could perform a SIM swap to address a new Giffgaff SIM card.
The interface outline of the dashboard remains the same for both the Giffgaff application and the official website.
Once there, proceed with our next step to start the SIM swap process!
Step #5 Input 6-Digit SIM Activation Code
The next step is to put the 6-digit code of your new Giffgaff SIM card into use!
By inputting the following code, you’ll have your new SIM card recognized by the account and therefore added to the settings.
It’s essential to type down the code correctly!
Here’s how to input the 6-digit SIM code:
- From the Giffgaff dashboard, tap “SIM” at the tabs on the top.
- Navigate to “SIM Swap”.
- Press the empty field on the next screen.
- Type down the 6-digit code into the field.
- Hit “Confirm”.
- Press “Next”.
If the written 6-digit code was correct, you’ll be successfully moved into the next tab of the SIM swap process. Otherwise, an “Incorrect SIM Code” message will be displayed.
Note: The empty field is limited only to 6-digits so inputting more digits won’t work!
Step #6 Reject your Old Giffgaff SIM
The final step of our guide is to have your old Giffgaff SIM rejected. This is important because multiple SIM cards could exist at once within your subscription.
Unless you want to have more than one Giffgaff SIM card, rejecting the old one is required for this process.
- The SIM swap will redirect you to the SIM cancellation page!
If the 6-digit code you’ve entered is correct, you’ll be able to choose which Giffgaff SIM cards in your account must be cancelled.
There, you’ll see all of your current and old SIM cards, along with an option to remove them from your account and therefore reject them.
If you had more than one Giffgaff SIM card until now, check which one was your current one and press the “X” button next to it.
This will cause the SIM card to be permanently removed from your Giffgaff account, as this process is irreversible.
Alert: Rejected Giffgaff SIM cards can no longer be added to your account!
