Why is Frontier on demand not working? Well, there are many possibilities for this issue!
The Frontier TV is a bundle of internet, on-demand, HD channels, and a mobile app, which provides a whole-home streaming experience.
When the on-demand content is not working on your Frontier STB or TV App, this could mean many things, so let’s begin unwrapping…
When Frontier on-demand content is not working, begin with power cycling the set-top box and reconnecting the Ethernet cable. If that doesn’t help, reboot the Frontier router, reconnect the STB to a proven power outlet, and use Frontier’s troubleshooting tool.
Why is Frontier Communications On Demand Not Working?
The on-demand content on your Frontier service may not work for numerous reasons, so it’s essential to explore the causes first.
Here’s everything responsible for the Frontier on-demand streaming issues:
How to Watch On-Demand on Frontier?
With Frontier, you can stream on-demand content at home through the DVR or non-DVR TV box or via your mobile device by downloading the FrontierTV app.
So, let’s learn a bit more!
Using Frontier STB:
The Frontier on-demand content can be streamed by pressing the “ON DEMAND” button on your remote control.
Then, you must use the arrows on your remote to navigate to Frontier TV Movies, where you can watch free on-demand or rent any movie or TV show you want.

How to Fix When Frontier On Demand Not Working?
Tip: Follow the steps consecutively!
1. Verify Your Frontier STB Activation
The first and most crucial step is to verify that your Frontier TV equipment is connected and activated correctly.
There are a few essential requirements to connect your Fronter DVR or non-DVR set-top box to the internet and the service, so let’s start by revealing all of them…
- The Frontier cable box must be connected to the TV with an HDMI cable.
- The Frontier router must be connected to the TV box via Ethernet cable.
- The Frontier TV box’s power adapter must be connected to a wall outlet.
- The Frontier set-top box must be connected to the coaxial outlet output.
Tip: If all connections appear intact, but the on-demand content is not working, try to stream several different sources to localize the problem.
2. Power Cycle your Frontier Player!
The next step is to reboot your Frontier TV equipment to refresh the system and hopefully solve the ongoing on-demand content issue.
It’s straightforward to power cycle a set-top box, and you will not lose any remote programming, recordings, or other saved data on your Frontier receiver.
Here’s how to power cycle the Frontier set-top box in easy steps:
- Press the “Power” button to turn off the Frontier STB.
- Then, unplug the TV box power adapter from the wall.
- Wait for about 60 seconds with the TV box unplugged.
- Connect the Frontier box directly to the power outlet.
- Press the “Power” button to turn on the Frontier TV box.
When your Frontier TV box is fully loaded, play the on-demand channel you wish to stream and check whether the content is now working.
If not, then there is something else causing this fault.
FrontierTV App On-Demand Not Working?
If you’re a mobile user experiencing issues with Frontier on-demand through the mobile app, the problem is most likely due to the internet connection.
A mobile can be connected to the internet via WiFi or cellular via Mobile Data, so you must justify that your device has network access.
Tip: Test streaming anything else through your mobile to check whether the on-demand streaming issue only affects your FrontierTV app or all apps.
3. Inspect & Secure the Ethernet Link
To stream on-demand content with Frontier, your set-top-box must be connected to the internet via Ethernet cable to your Frontier router.
When the Ethernet connection cable is loose or entirely disconnected, you may experience issues with the live TV and on-demand streaming.
- Simply reconnect the Ethernet cable on both sides securely!
When the Ethernet connection is secured, reboot your Frontier streaming box and test whether the on-demand content will now work.
In addition, we recommend inspecting the Ethernet cable connectors since the internet connection will be weak when the port engagement is not secure.
Tip: Test whether you have internet from your Frontier router on a different device!
4. Soft-Reset Frontier Internet Router
It’s not excluded that the entire Frontier on-demand streaming problem comes due to an offline router or a problem from the source.
This is why one of the quickest methods to reset the WiFi router and restore the internet connection is the power cycle process, which is 100% harmless!
Here’s how to perform a power circulation on a Frontier router:
- First, press the power button to power off the router.
- Then, unplug the power adapter from the wall socket.
- Wait for 60 seconds while your router is unplugged.
- Connect the Frontier router directly to the wall outlet.
- Wait for 2 minutes until the internet network is online.
When your Frontier router and the internet have been reset, double-check whether the Ethernet cable is secured and test streaming on-demand content.
If the issue is still there, keep reading.
5. Check for Frontier Service Outages!
Another reason why you can’t stream on-demand content through your Frontier player is due to a service outage on Frontier’s end.
Luckily, you can check for ongoing outages through the official Frontier user portal by inputting your address for precise accuracy as per your location.
- To check for Frontier outages, go to Frontier Outages!
Use the provided file to input your address to receive accurate information about ongoing outages in your area.
If there is an outage, you may need to wait an hour or two before streaming on-demand content.
Tip: To receive outage notifications, sign in to your Frontier account, go to My Profile, and add your mobile number under “My Contact Information & Notification Preferences.”
6. Switch to Another Electrical Outlet
Sometimes, even if rarely, the streaming problems on your Frontier streaming box come from power-related fluctuations or insufficiency.
We strongly recommend plugging your Frontier TV box directly into the outlet and checking whether you can stream on-demand.
In addition, it’s not a bad idea to test and plug your TV box into a different outlet in your home only to justify whether a fresh power source will help.
If the on-demand content is still not working, continue with the next solution…
7. Use Frontier Troubleshooting Tool
The Frontier’s Automatic Troubleshooting Tool is a great way to thoroughly inspect your equipment and streaming services.
Sometimes, the on-demand content wouldn’t work due to a problem with your account, services, or Frontier STB system, and this tool should find the issue.
You only need to sign into your account and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a check of your Frontier services.
The automatic tool will not contribute to your billing or interfere with the saved data and recordings on your Frontier set-top box, so proceed ahead with peace of mind.
The Frontiers automatic troubleshooting tool will do the following:
- The tool will check whether all Frontier services are provided to you.
- The software will make immediate adjustments to restore services.
- The automatic tool will also reset your Frontier router and internet.
The tool will then provide accurate information about your service status and whether you must do anything.
In the best-case scenario, the tool will automatically resolve the on-demand issue.
Warning: Your services and internet will go offline for 3-5 minutes while the Frontier’s tool is in the working.
Quick Recap:
Hence, when Frontier on demand not working, verify that your Frontier STB is connected to the internet and perform a power cycle to refresh the service.
Also, check the Ethernet cable, power cycle your WiFi router, and use Frontier’s automatic troubleshooting tool.
