To understand the policy, you have to note down what some key terms mean.
Here are important return policy terms to keep in mind when returning products.
The term device used by Freedom mobile in their policies refers to any wireless communication gadget.
This gadget has to be either used with Freedom Mobile services or obtained from Freedom Mobile vendors. Such products include smartphones, tablets, internet modems and data sticks among others.
2. End-of-Life Device
This is a term used to refer to a device whose sale has been discontinued by Freedom Mobile. There are specific conditions that affect such products.
This refers to the amount you pay upfront when purchasing a device on credit. There is a specific amount you must pay to receive any device from Freedom mobile upfront.
4. Monthly MyTab Charge
This refers to an optional monthly fee that by choosing, you increase or establish the amount in your MyTab.
5. New Device
This refers to a brand-new product from the manufacturer sold by Freedom Mobile to the customer.
6. Lightly Loved and Refurbished Device
This refers to any product that is sold by Freedom Mobile that has been used by another person before.
This includes mostly phones that were returned within the trial period of 15 days.
It is important to keep the definition of these terms at the back of your mind as we consider all the terms that affect returns at freedom mobile.
It is not every time you can return a product purchased. Freedom Mobile provides specific situations where you are allowed to return purchased devices.

- Warranty return
The trial period is a time frame within which a customer can test their product to see if it meets expectations.
Within this period, you are allowed to return your product to Freedom mobile and you will receive a full refund or a new product.
For Freedom Mobile, the trial period is 15 days. Within 15 days, you are allowed to return the product to the point of purchase.
However, there are conditions that must be met for your return to be accepted.
The conditions for returning products during the trial period are:
- The product should be in “like new” condition at the time of return
- The product must be returned together with the original packaging and accessories
- The customer returning the product must have proof of purchase including receipts, warranties or any documentation
- Any products that have defects resulting from the user will not be accepted on return.
When you return a product within the warranty period, you will be entitled to either of the following:
- Full refund
- Partial refund
- A new product
Note: Returning a device that is linked to the freedom mobile data packages consequently means cancelling the entire package.
If you return the product and decide to pick a new device, you will be upgraded or downgraded to the device you chose.
There are some situations where you may be entitled to extended trial periods.
Freedom mobile allows people with specific disabilities to have the product for up to 30 days as a trial period.
Within this period, individuals who identify as having a disability can return the product to Freedom mobile. However, the conditions for the product being returned are sanity.
The product must be in like new condition. Further, the product should be accompanied by the original packaging and accessories.
Most Freedom Mobile products are linked to the device. In other words, the monthly payments are to be for both the phone and the data charges.
If you choose to return your product, you have to also consider cancelling your contract.
If you return your device within the trial period window, you will not be mandated to pay for your contract.
If you return a product outside the trial period window, it will not be accepted. So, you have to pay for your contract.
If you are outside the trial window and do not want to continue using the device, you can renegotiate your contract.
Usually, Freedom Mobile will give you a listening ear and could upgrade your device. Alternatively, cancel your contract and start a new one at your cost.
Here are your options if you are outside the trial period
- Dial 611 to cancel your contract
- Call 1-877-946-3184 and renegotiate your contract or ask to end your contract.
- Connect with the Freedom Mobile team at any Freedom Mobile service center.
Note: If you choose to cancel your contract after the 15-day trial period, you have to pay for the entire package. You will not be required to return your phone either.
It is, however, important to remember that, those who cancel contracts early may be eligible for some discounts.
When you pay your Freedom Mobile contract in advance, they consider your lumpsum payment and reduce the cost.
Besides the trial period returns, you can also send a product back to Freedom Mobile within the warranty window.
Note that warranty periods are not necessarily provided by Freedom Mobile. Freedom Mobile is a third-party vendor, that sells products from different manufacturers.
If you buy a Samsung phone from Freedom Mobile, you will be eligible for a warranty offered by Samsung.
However, you have to return the product to the point of purchase to get the warranty.
If you purchased your phone at a Freedom Mobile shop, you can return it within the specified warranty period and you will get a refund or a new product.
Condition for receiving a product warranty from Freedom Mobile
- For New Devices, End of Life Devices and any other devices sold while new the warranty is covered by the manufacturer.
- The warranty period for all the new products is determined by the manufacturer and stipulated on the warranty copy available on the manufacturer’s website.
- All refurbished Devices do not carry a warranty from either the manufacturer or Freedom Mobile
Note: Warranties are not offered for products that have been damaged or for any defects caused by the user.
You will only receive a warranty if the product was found faulty or developed a defect that is not related to your actions.
The freedom mobile return policy stipulates that customers of the brand can return products that do not meet standards.
If you purchase a product and feel that it is not up to the required standards, you have 15 days to return it. For those with disabilities, the trial period is up to 30 days.
Besides the trial period, you may also return phones and other devices to freedom mobile within the warranty window.
