Yealink phone says no service, and you’re wondering why? This is NOT a cause for concern!
Yealink phones are an exceptional addition to your home or office environment, but sometimes, they produce an error stating “No service connection.”
The issue is really simple to solve and in most cases, it is related to an unstable service connection, an issue with the SIP/router.
Here’s a summarized version of the entire solution…
When Yealink says “no service,” perform a softkey reboot on the phone and reconnect the Ethernet cable from the “PoE” port.
If the issue persists, unplug the handset cable and restore the phone to factory defaults.
Let’s unwrap the possible suspects for the issue!
Why Does My Yealink Phone Says No Service?
There are quite a few possibilities behind Yealink’s “No Service” error, but most originate from improper Ethernet connection.
So, let’s review all possible causes for the issue before fixing it:
How to Connect a Yealink Phone to Service?
Supplying service to the Yealink is an essential requirement for any IP phone.
Let’s have a look at the service setup at home and how it is done in an office environment quickly and efficiently:
How to Connect Yealink to Service In Office?
- Install the RJ-12/11 (Ethernet) cable in the phone’s port.
- Plug and position the handset cable of your Yealink unit.
- Then, connect the other end of the wire to the SIP server.
- Configure the phone’s IP via the SIP’s web GUI options.
How to Connect Yealink to Service At Home?
- Plug an Ethernet cable into Yealink’s rear panel.
- Connect the other end to the Wi-Fi router/modem.
- Access the router’s web GUI to start the configuring.
Note: Yealink will automatically begin setup once connected to a network device!

Quick Tip: The steps are designed to be applied in chronological order!
1. “Softkey” Reboot the Yealink Phone
A temporal conversion issue may cause the Yealink phone to display a reception error upon attempting to dial or accept a call.
You can address the issue by “softkey” rebooting the Yealink device, using the built-in dial pad buttons.
Here’s how to perform a softkey reboot on your Yealink service phone:
- Locate the “X” (exit) or “Cancel” button on your Yealink phone.
- After that, press and hold Yealink’s button for 10–15 seconds.
- Once the confirmation prompt appears, choose the “OK” option.
- Next, wait until the Yealink phone powers off and then reboots.
After the phone powers off, it will turn on automatically after 10–15 seconds.
Do not unplug the power cord or detach the handset from the base until the display has shown your Yealink menu.
Warning: Powering off the Yealink phone will erase existing calling or dialing configurations!
2. Unplug Yealink From the “PoE” Port
Your Yealink phone’s installation consists of three essential connection cables as follows:
- Power adapter
- Service cable
- Handset cable
If your Yealink phone is wired, it will be directly connected to the “PoE” port on your network switch or network router and assigned as an accessible IP address.
To address issues with the service, you must temporarily disconnect Yealink’s Ethernet cable from the “PoE” port.
Here’s how to reset Yealink’s service in easy steps:
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from Yealink’s rear panel.
- Unplug the other end of the cable from your router unit.
- Wait for 60 seconds while the Ethernet is disconnected.
- Connect the Ethernet cable back into your Yealink’s port.
- Plug the other end into the yellow port on your router.
You may have noticed that there are 4-5 blue PoE ports on the back of your router and 1 or 2 yellow ports.
The difference is that yellow ports are prioritized over blue ports and deliver a more significant amount of connection packets.
Tip: If your router has only one yellow port, test after reconnecting the wall outlet jack!
3. Troubleshoot your Network Device
As established, the “Yealink no service” error code can be a result of issues with the wired or wireless connection of your Yealink phone.
So, this step will guide you through standard network device troubleshooting to improve the coverage of your Wi-Fi network or resolve “LAN” issues.
Yealink-Compatible Network Devices
Your Yealink phone can connect with the following network devices:
- A network router (wireless or wired connection)
- A modem device (wired “Ethernet” connection)
- A gateway unit (wireless or wired connection)
- A network switch (wired “Ethernet” connection)
Let’s review working methods to resolve issues with the network device!
“Power Cycle” the Network Device
The first and most helpful solution for underlying issues with the network device is to perform a power cycle by unplugging it from the power for 30–40 seconds.
Reset the Device’s Service Connection
If the network device is unable to connect with service, unplug the Ethernet or Coaxial outlet cable from the device’s rear panel and wait for 15–20 seconds.
Restore the Device to Factory Defaults
If Yealink is still losing reception, restore the network device to factory defaults through the web GUI or by pressing the “Reset” button on the rear panel.
Alert: Restoring the device to factory defaults will temporarily unpair all connected devices!
4. Reconnect Yealink to Wi-Fi (Yealink “W” Series)
If you’ve assigned your Yealink “W” series handset to a Wi-Fi network, the “No Service” error may be a result of a poor or unstable wireless connection.
You can resolve existing reception issues with your Yealink IP phone by reconnecting the device to your home’s Wi-Fi network.
Here’s how to unpair and reconnect the Yealink phone from Wi-Fi:
- Press the “Menu” button on the Yealink phone’s display.
- Select “Settings” and then navigate to “Basic Settings.”
- Scroll down to “Wi-Fi” and press “Enter” on the display.
- Highlight the “Toggle” button and deactivate the Wi-Fi.
- Wait for 15–20 seconds and reactivate Yealink’s Wi-Fi.
- Wait until the Yealink phone scans for available networks.
- Finally, select your home Wi-Fi network and pair Yealink.
Quick Tip: To diagnose potential issues with the Yealink phone’s Wi-Fi, ensure the device is within connection range and your router/switch is working properly.
5. Reset the SIP/Expansion System (Yealink Office)
In larger office environments, specialists tend to use SIP servers to automatically re-route the IP addresses of all Yealink phones under the network.
If one or more of the Yealink phones in your office says “No Service,” there could be an issue with the SIP server or the expansion system.
Here’s how to reset the SIP server connected with your Yealink phone:
- Disconnect the SIP server’s RJ cable from your wall outlet.
- Unplug the other end of the cable from the SIP’s rear panel.
- Wait for 60 seconds and reposition the cable on both ends.
- Check the indicator lights on the SIP server’s front panel.
What is the SIP Expansion System?
The expansion system is an additional interface to the SIP server that can multiply the number of separate IP addresses.
If, for example, an SIP server can support up to 12 devices, you can connect 100 phones if you install an expansion system with the server in an office environment.
Notice: The expansion systems are directly wired with the SIP servers!
6. Restore Yealink to Factory Defaults
If the Yealink phone is still unable to establish a service connection, the next recommended step is to perform a factory reset of the IP system.
For this purpose, you’re going to need the phone’s IP address and a PC or laptop connected to the same network as Yealink.
How to Acquire a Yealink IP Address?
- Tap the “Menu” button on your Yealink phone.
- Next, scroll to the bottom and tap on “Status.”
- Locate the IP address field and copy it down.
How to Access Yealink Web GUI?
Notice: The upcoming instructions apply to Yealink’s SIP-T46S running firmware of the GUI.
- Open a web browser on your computer or laptop device.
- Paste Yealink’s IP address in the browser’s search field.
- After that, use “admin” as a login username and password.
- Navigate to “Settings” from the side menu on the GUI page.
To initiate the factory reset, tap on “Upgrade” → “Reset to Factory” and follow the steps!
Warning: Do not power off the Yealink phone during the factory restoration!
Quick Recap
If the Yealink phone says no service, you can solve the issue by reconnecting the handset cable and power cycling Yealink’s base.
If the issue persists, re-install the service connection and troubleshoot the network device.
