Wyze Doorbell Pro Not Charging – Quick Fix
Quick Tip: To access the charging port of the Wyze Doorbell Pro, loosen the security screw on the bottom of the doorbell and slide the doorbell’s faceplate up and away from the base.
1. Reconnect Wyze’s Charging Cable
There could be a fault in the connection between the charging cable and your Wyze doorbell’s micro-USB port.
That’s why the first step is to re-install the adapter’s charging cable to ensure it is properly connected to the micro-USB port on your doorbell.
- If the Wyze Doorbell is already charging, unplug the micro-USB and connect it back in.
- If the Wyze Doorbell is not currently charging, remove the faceplate and plug the USB.
Is the Wyze Doorbell Pro Battery Removable?
On both hard-wired and wireless doorbell installations, the battery of your Wyze Doorbell Pro is not removable.
It can only be replaced by a licensed Wyze service shop, so do not consider alternatives to purchase a brand-new battery for the doorbell.
Note: Bright blue illumination of the LED indicates that Wyze has started charging successfully.
2. Soft Reset your Wyze Doorbell
Well, before attempting anything more complex, you should “Soft” reset the Wyze doorbell by long-pressing the built-in “Power” button.
All Pro-versions of the doorbell come with a built-in power button above the charging socket, accessible once the faceplate is away from the base.
Note: Wyze’s “Power” button activates different functions based on how long it is held!
Here’s how to perform a “Soft” reset on the Wyze doorbell easily:
- Uninstall the faceplate from the Wyze doorbell’s base.
- Push the “micro-USB” header to cover the A/C port.
- Find the “Power” button right below the charging port.
- Hold the power button for approximately 10 seconds.
- Let go of the button when your Wyze LED illuminates.
Note: Pressing the “Power” button once and not holding it will turn off the Wyze Doorbell Pro!
3. Check the Wyze Doorbell Adapter
The Wyze Doorbell Pro uses a micro-USB wall adapter charging cable that plugs into the rear panel of the doorbell.
The adapter uses a standard power connector to plug into a functioning outlet and refill the capacity of your doorbell’s internal battery.
To verify that the adapter is working, inspect the following connections:
- The micro-USB to doorbell connection of the cable.
- The micro-USB to adapter connection of your cable.
- The doorbell’s A/C adapter connection to the outlet.
You can test the charging equipment of the doorbell on any other device or smartphone with a built-in micro-USB port.
If the charger does not seem to deliver power to the doorbell properly, test with an alternative micro-USB cable and then replace the power adapter with a tested one.
Is Wyze Doorbell Pro Wireless or Hard-Wired?
While the Wyze Doorbell Pro is designed to function wirelessly, it can be all-time hard-wired by re-designing the charging adapter to work as a “C” wire.
So, the hard-wired installation is more complex compared to the wireless setup of the doorbell and must preferably be done by a qualified technician.
Warning: A potential malfunction with Wyze’s charging equipment can result in battery issues!
4. Alter the Doorbell’s Power Source
If Wyze’s battery is still refusing to charge, there could be an underlying insufficiency from the electrical outlet connected to the doorbell’s charging equipment.
That’s why the next step is to alter the power source of the Wyze doorbell and see if the indicator lamp will illuminate in blue.
How to Relocate Your Wyze Doorbell Pro?
To supply the Wyze Doorbell Pro with power from an alternative outlet, disconnect the device’s adapter from the currently occupied outlet and transfer the cable.
Well, if you have hard-wired the Wyze doorbell, so it persistently stays connected, relocating the adapter may take up a greater deal of time.
In addition, ensure your charging cable is securely connected to the adapter after transferring all the equipment.
How to Test the Power Outlet’s Efficiency?
To determine if an outlet is fit to supply the Wyze Doorbell Pro with power, you should connect your smartphone’s charger to the outlet and test.
You can use any other appliance that does not consume a great amount of power to test the electrical outlet.
Notice: It is advised to test untrusted power sources with low-voltage devices/ appliances!
5. Inspect Wyze’s Port for Obstructions
A potentially obstructed charging port may prevent the Wyze Doorbell Pro from receiving any power supply when connected.
That’s why the next step is to unplug the charging adapter from the Wyze doorbell port and verify the metallic charging leads are free of dust particles or debris.
So, remove the doorbell’s faceplate and use an ear stick with some rubbing alcohol to clean the micro-USB port of Wyze.
If your Wyze Doorbell Pro starts charging after cleaning, then you should perform maintenance of the device every 2–3 weeks to keep optimal performance.
Warning: Do not reinstall the Wyze doorbell until the port fully dries up!
6. Update Wyze Pro & Wyze App’s Firmware
Well, an outdated firmware version of your Wyze or application can result in false doorbell LED indications or no indications at all.
Thus, in those cases, even if your Wyze doorbell is charging, there wouldn’t be an indication, deceiving you into believing that the device is not charging at all.
