1. Ensure the Connector is in “Discovery”
The first and most important step is ensuring that the Tesla wall charger has entered “Discovery” mode and allows nearby wireless devices to connect.
Hence, setting up the charger with a Wi-Fi network requires pairing a smartphone first, so this step is a necessity that you must undertake.
How to Activate the Tesla “Discovery” Mode?
As mentioned earlier, all you need to do is press and hold the cable handle button for up to 10 seconds to activate the connector’s “Discovery” mode.
Upon releasing the button, your Tesla charger will start flashing and become discoverable.
How to See if Charger is in “Discovery” Mode?
Well, to verify that the connector is “broadcasting” its signal, check the LED light on the outlet connector.
If the LED light is green, it means that the connector is discoverable, if it is blank, flashes, or does not stay solid, hold the cable handle button to re-activate “Discovery.”
Notice: You must wait for at least 20–30 seconds before the charger can be discovered!
