How to Fix When Belong Modem Internet Light Flashing?
Tip: We recommend following the steps in order!
1. Power Cycle Belong Equipment
The first and mandatory step is to try solving the modem’s flashing internet light via restart.
This easy and harmless method won’t erase anything from your system but will restart the entire operation and solve most of your problems.
You must power cycle both the networking devices:
- Unplug your Belong modem nbn box from the power for 60 seconds!
In addition, we recommend plugging both devices into a standalone outlet without any power dividers or strips.
If this does not help, keep reading!
2. Reconnect the Ethernet Cable
One of the most essential steps is to reconnect the cable between the Belong modem and your nbn connection box.
This would be an Ethernet cable connected to the “WAN” port of your modem and into the output port on your nbn box.
Based on your nbn connection, the Ethernet cable’s end on your nbn box could be plugged into the “UNI-D1” or “Gateway” port.
Regardless, you must unplug the wire on both sides and verify that the connectors are not defective.
Tip: Also check the ports on your modem and nbn box, and if there’s another port available, test plugging the Ethernet connector there.
3. Check for Ongoing nbn Outage
Another quick step before diving into more complex troubleshooting is to ensure no ongoing nbn outage.
Whenever the nbn network is offline, your nbn box won’t deliver internet to your modem, causing the internet light to flash and declining your access to the internet.
- To check for outages, go to the nbn Co Status!
There isn’t much you can do if there is an ongoing nbn outage. So wait until the nbn technicians address and resolve the outage.
Tip: Input your full address!
4. Configure Belong nbn Settings
The internet light on your Belong modem may flash whenever the connection to the nbn box is not established.
Now that you’ve checked the cable, it’s time to verify that the nbn configuration is correct.
This is possible through your Belong modem’s control panel, so you must access it.
How to Access Belong Modem?
To access your Belong modem’s control panel, you need to connect a device to the modem’s network, regardless of whether you have internet access.
You can use Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and when your device is connected, follow these steps:
- On the connected device, open a web browser.
- In the URL, insert “10.0.0.138” and press Enter.
- When prompted to log in, use these credentials:
- Username: “admin”
- Password: “Belong” (capital “B”)
How to Adjust Belong nbn Settings?
- Protocol: DHCP (IPoE)
- Modulation: VDSL2
- SRA/SOS/ROC: Enabled
- VLAN: Blank/none
- IP address: sticky
- Login: No login required
If you don’t see any of these settings, skip them, but don’t forget to save the changes when you are ready.
Then, you can exit the control panel, reboot your Belong modem and check whether the internet light is still blinking.
If yes, continue reading!
5. Check Your Belong’s Account
Before continuing, log in to your Belong account and verify that your internet bill is paid.
You must also check whether you have received an SMS notifying you that your account has been suspended due to unpaid bills.
If that’s the case, then this is why the internet light on the Belong modem is blinking and simply indicating that your internet service has been disabled.
Note: Belong internet service suspension comes after 15 days of payment delay!
6. Inspect Your nbn Connection Box
The entire problem and the flashing internet light on your Belong modem may be due to a fault in your nbn connection box.
So, it’s crucial to head over there and check whether there is a red blinking/solid light on your nbn connection box.
This might indicate the culprit for this entire fuss.
The most efficient way to solve issues with the nbn connection box is to perform a factory reset, which does not require extra steps.
Simply insert a pointy-ended tool into the “Reset” pinhole on your nbn box and hold the button for about 10 seconds or until the light on the device goes off.
Note: After the reset, it may take up to 15 minutes for your nbn box to reconnect to the network!
7. Factory Reset the Belong Modem
So, factory resetting an nbn box is an easy job, but factory resetting your modem requires a few extra steps necessary for renewing your connection.
If the internet light on your Belong modem won’t stop flashing, the full reset will reinstall the OS and provide you with the opportunity to configure all settings.
Warning: The factory reset will erase your Wi-Fi configuration and modem settings!
Here’s how to factory reset your Belong modem:
- First, ensure that your Belong modem is working.
- Use a pointy tool to reach inside the reset pinhole.
- Hold the Reset button for about 10 to 15 seconds.
- Whenever the lights go off, release the reset button.
The factory reset may continue for about 5 minutes, during which the Belong modem will restart multiple times.
When ready, you must follow the instructions from Solution 4 to access the unit’s control panel and carry out the “Quick Setup” or “Wizard” to configure all settings and features.
Reminder: Don’t forget to configure the correct Belong nbn settings!
