You need to set up the guest network properly to fix the issue.
1. Can’t Acquire IP Address
The router has problems issuing an IP address to your device. An IP configuration failure may occur, so you cannot join a WiFi network.
2. Issue With Browser Cookies
When you use a browser, it saves some info into its cache and cookies. Sometimes, the problem originates from these data.
3. Guest Network Not Set Up Correctly
The router does not have any DHCP function when in AP mode. It means it cannot manage the devices that connect to it.

When a device has been running for a long time, it collects bugs and saves them into the cache.

Before we go ahead with the solutions to fix guest network access on your router, let’s explore a few quick ways to resolve this issue.
You first need to reboot your router and see if you can now connect to the guest network.
You can also try forgetting the network on your phone and reconnecting to it. These two quick steps will usually suffice and fix connectivity problems with your router.
However, if these don’t work, let’s go ahead and work on the rest of the solutions.
The next step you’re going to take is to discharge your router via a power cycle completely.
Your router has a RAM module that provides a temporary storage area for configuration and other files.
If you’re having trouble logging in to your router, the files in its memory are likely corrupted.
The only way to get rid of the contents of your router’s RAM is to discharge it. Reboots can only clear it to a point.
However, a power cycle with your router unplugged will completely remove any files causing the issue.

- Open the browser you’re using to log in to the portal.
- Go to More Settings.
- Select History, then Clear browsing data.
- Choose the All Time range.
- Check the boxes for Cookies and Cached images and files.
Note: Even if you’re not connecting to any guest network portals, we recommend clearing this every couple of months.
Networks either require you to set IP address acquisition automatically or manually.
Since they’re temporary, guest networks will need you to use automatic IP addresses.
However, there are cases when a user of your guest network has a device set up to use static IP addresses.
If this happens, it’s up to the device to adjust and set to DHCP rather than static.
These are all simple steps that should not be much of a hassle in exchange for access to the internet.
Here’s how to enable DHCP on your devices:
For iOS devices:
- Go to Settings, then General.
- Select WiFi.
- Find the guest network you’re connected to.
- Tap on the i icon opposite the WiFi name.
- Select the DHCP tab, and tap on Save.
For Android devices:
- Go to your phone’s Settings.
- Select Network & Internet, then WiFi.
- Press and hold the WiFi network you’re connected to.

- Login to your router’s web interface.
- Select Guest network, then click on Enable.
- Enter the details of your network.
- Select the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
- Click on Apply to complete the setup.
Note: You can also set passwords for your network and even set time limits to how long devices can connect.
Guest networks are also affected by everything else your router is doing. If your guest network stops working, you know that there’s something wrong with your router.

Here’s how to update your router’s firmware:
- Log in to your router’s web interface.
- On your router’s Home page, check the top-right for notifications.
- If an update is available, you’ll see it there.
- Check the pop-up message and click on Update now.
- Select Firmware update.
Note: After updating your router’s firmware, we recommend power cycling it before testing to see if it resolves the issue.

- Select the Restore button.
- Click on OK to confirm the reset.
