No Vodafone Service On iPhone – Fixed!
We hope that after going through our causes, you’ve now got a better idea of how to approach the problem with your iPhone.
To achieve the best troubleshooting results, you should follow the chronological order of our solutions and perform all of them.
Here’s how to fix it whenever Vodafone has no service on your iPhone!
Solution #1 Reboot your iPhone!
Although this is a really simple solution, it’s the best first approach to attempt against any issues with your iPhone.
The service problem with your iPhone could be resolved with a simple software reboot, so we’ll restart our device and test whether the problem is gone!
Here’s how to reboot your iPhone in easy steps:
- Grab your iPhone and hold its power button.
- Once the power slider appears, slide towards the LEFT.
- Wait for the iPhone to shut down.
- Hold the power button for 3 seconds.
- Wait for another several seconds for the iPhone to boot up.
In addition, if your iPhone is running low on power, you should also plug it into the charger.
The restart will essentially re-attempt to recognize the Vodafone SIM card, therefore the service might come back. You should see the PIN confirmation screen (0000).
Note: In case the power button triggers Siri instead of restarting, go to Settings > General and press “Shut Down”.
Solution #2 Toggle the Data Roaming/Cellular Line
If you have disabled the data roaming or the cellular line of your iPhone, your device won’t be receiving any service for the time being.
In general, there are two things you must toggle ON, in order for your iPhone to hook up to the Vodafone network and receive internet.
- To turn on Data Roaming, go to Settings > Cellular and highlight “Data Roaming”.
- To enable “Mobile Data”, go to Settings > “Mobile Data” and highlight the slider.
Those are the two things that must be enabled for your iPhone to connect with the network.
Once both of these two are enabled, watch out for the service status and determine if your iPhone is going to connect with the global cellular network. You need at least 2 bars!
Note: With older iPhones and software versions, the settings may be slightly different.
Solution #3 Reinsert the SIM Card
If there’s an issue with the inserted Vodafone SIM card, chances are that your iPhone will refuse to connect with the network.
In such a scenario, what you should do is reinsert the SIM card from the iPhone and reposition it inside the compartment.
This will help clear glitches with the SIM chip’s reading from your iPhone’s end.
Follow these instructions to reinsert your Vodafone SIM card chip:
- Get a SIM card eject tool delivered in your iPhone’s package.
- Locate the SIM pinhole on the side of your iPhone’s panel.
- Insert the SIM instrument inside the pinhole and push it in.
- Once you hear a click, take out the SIM card compartment along with the chip.
- Take out the SIM card of the tray.
- Wait for 5 minutes while the SIM card is taken out of the iPhone.
- Re-insert the SIM card into the compartment.
- Then put the tray inside the iPhone.
It may take your iPhone around 10-20 seconds to rescan the SIM card. Be patient and once ready, insert your Vodafone PIN code. You should now be connected to the service!
Note: It’s important for the SIM card to be inserted the correct way into the SIM tray!
Solution #4 Disable the AirPlane Mode
Chances are that you have accidentally enabled the AirPlane Mode on your mobile device.
As you probably know, AirPlane has a goal to block all callers that are trying to contact your number or forward their voice call directly to your Vodafone voicemail.
By disabling this mode, you will enable your Vodafone SIM card to connect to a network.
Here’s how to turn off the AirPlane mode on your iPhone in easy steps:
- From your iPhone’s home screen, drag the top Quick Menu.
- Locate the AirPlane mode icon in the quick menu.
- Press on the AirPlane mode icon to disable the mode.
- Check if your Vodafone SIM would now connect to a network.
Keep in mind that if the AirPlane mode is already disabled, pressing its icon will turn the mode on. Only press the AirPlane mode icon if the icon is painted orange.
Note: If the icon of the AirPlane mode is in orange, it means that the code is turned on.
Solution #5 Update the iPhone Software
Since you are unable to update only the carrier settings of your iPhone, you should renew the version of the software.
With the latest available iPhone firmware, all of your carrier settings will be updated and your iPhone should receive service from Vodafone again.
To update your iPhone, go to Settings > Software Update and press “Update”.
You must wait for your iPhone to first download the update and then apply it.
The process averagely takes about 5-10 minutes based on the iPhone’s performance and storage.
Note: To free up some storage, go to Settings > Apps and delete anything you’re not using.
Solution #6 Reset iPhone Network Settings
If nothing worked out so far, we strongly suggest resetting the network settings of your iPhone.
By resetting the network settings, you will erase all mobile data cache, along with cellular settings, APN and Bluetooth connections. This might help!
Here’s how to reset the network settings of your iPhone:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings.
- Head to “General”.
- Scroll all the way down and select “Transfer or Reset”.
- In the next tab, select “Reset”.
- Press on “Reset Network”.
- Confirm that you want to reset your iPhone.
Keep in mind that the network reset will delete all VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before. It will also remove all remembered WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices.
Tip: Before resetting, save any network data that you wish to keep after the reset.
Configure APN Settings Manually!
Sometimes we need to adjust the APN settings for Vodafone service manually, in case the properties are misconfigured.
Follow the steps below to adjust the settings.
- Tap on the Settings app.
- Go to Mobile Data.
- Select Mobile Data Network.
- Tap on APN.
- Change Username and Password, both to “wap”.
Note: Don’t forget to check whether Data Roaming is enabled, especially if you’re abroad.
Quick Recap:
Thus, the solution to the “no service” problem on your iPhone is to reboot the device and reinsert the SIM card. Next, check and disable the AirPlane mode on your iPhone and if that didn’t work, perform a network reset and adjust the APN settings manually.
