If your Verizon video calling not working, then the issue is probably with your cellular services. On the other hand, there could be an issue with the receiver and not with you.
So, in this post, we’ll review ALL possibilities and share with you how to address each of them!
To solve the inactive video calling with Verizon you can restart your device, re-insert the SIM card and possibly check if the receiver is reachable. Moreover, you can check your accessibility settings for restrictions and remove any possible interference.
This is just a small fraction of all possible solutions so let’s have a quick look at the frequently reported causes first and then how to troubleshoot them.
Why Is Verizon HD Voice And Video Calling Not Working?
If your Verizon HD voice or video calling isn’t working, the reason might be one of the following:
1. Video Calling Disabled
If video or HD voice calling is disabled on your line, you will be unavailable to use the feature until you enable it.
2. No Access To Camera
If you’ve declined camera access to Verizon, you will be unable to activate video calling.
3. No Signal To The Receiver
In case the receiver is not reachable it will seem like your video calling is not working.
4. Cellular Issues
If your device doesn’t have access to your cellular services the video calling will be temporarily unavailable.
5. Low Device Battery
Not charged devices might as well result in inactivity in certain applications.
Now that you know the reasons that might be behind your issue, let’s start excluding them one by one until you’re left with the true cause.
How To Fix Verizon Video Calling Not Working?
Each of the solutions is designed to address one or more of the possibilities. It is recommended NOT to skip any of the solutions and to apply them in order.
Note: It is really important to test whether your calling will not work when calling to a different destination. Try calling more than one receiver before continuing.
Without further ado let’s jump right in!
Solution #1 Hard Reset Your Device
By rebooting your device, you might easily fix the inability to video call through Verizon. If you’re not in particular with how to reboot your device, you can follow these steps:
- Hold the power button on your smartphone for 10 seconds.
- Wait for the shut-down slider/button to appear and press it once to confirm.
- Wait for your device to completely shut off.
- Hold the power button for several seconds once again until your device boots up.
Once ready try to perform a call and check if it will work. If not, let’s proceed with our next solution.
Solution #2 Re-Insert Sim Card
If rebooting your device didn’t help, then you should re-insert your Verizon SIM card on your device. For iPhones and Androids, you can find the SIM card slot on the right-side panel of the device.
For tablets and other smartphones, it is often the same but in case of trouble check online.
To re-insert the SIM card, follow these steps:
- Once you’ve located the SIM card slot, find the little hole beneath the slot.
- Grab a pin or paperclip and insert it into the small hole until you hear a click.
- Pull the slot and eject the SIM card.
- Put the SIM card back into the slot and insert it back into your phone.
Your phone will lose cellular coverage while the SIM slot is out and once you have inserted it back in, enter your PIN and try video calling through Verizon again.
Solution #3 Charge Your Device
If the Verizon video calling still not working and your device is low on battery make sure to charge it fully before you continue.
While your device is charging try the following:
- Connect your phone with the charger and plug it into the power source.
- Go to your camera tab and select the front camera.
- Check if the front camera works and initiate a Verizon video call.
While your device is charging, you might as well power it down for a couple of hours and try again later if you’re up for it.
Solution #4 Troubleshoot Cellular
Sometimes when using Verizon services, a problem with the cellular connection might make you unable to video call or use HD voice type.
The best way to understand whether there is an external issue with your cellular services is to reach out to Verizon support.
Note: If you’re using a cellular type of connection, you can check whether the internet is active by looking at the bars.
If there is one bar or an E at the cellular data, you won’t have any internet or if you do, it will be very slow.
Solution #5 Remove Physical Blocking
To video call through Verizon, you must have a strong cellular connection and if you’re standing beneath a large metal object, for instance, the service might be disrupted.
Try to go to another room or remove ANY electronic devices around you. Another thing that could be blocking the cellular signal would be a furious storm around in your area. If this is the case, wait until the weather settles down and try calling again.
Solution #6 Remove Issues with Receiver
If Verizon video calling not working, then perhaps the user you’re trying to reach via video doesn’t have the feature enabled.
To activate Verizon video calling for you and the user you’re trying to call, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the App icon.
- Select the settings icon.
- Click on more and head to Advanced calling.
- Once in theAdvanced calling tab, tap on Allow to activate this type of calling.
You must also ensure you have activated the advanced calling or you won’t be able to video call either.
Solution #7 Factory Reset Device
If nothing has worked so far, then you should try factory resetting your device. The factory reset will help to erase the current memory cache, possibly unlocking the video calling Verizon feature.
Note: You should know that all contents of your phone will be reset to factory defaults and you will have to re-establish all configurations all over again.
To factory reset your device, follow these instructions:
- Go to the Settings of your device and click on General.
- Scroll all the way down to Factory Reset.
- Select Erase Everything.
- Enter your device password and confirm.
- Wait for several minutes for the reset to conclude.
Once done, try video calling through Verizon again.
