If your Total wireless data not working, there is a high chance that there is an outage in your local area.
Besides this possibility, we’ll uncover everything else that might be preventing your wireless data and help you solve the problem if it’s on your side.
To fix Total wireless data that isn’t working, make sure to disable your WiFi and reinsert the SIM card. Go outside, check your plan, and reset the network settings of your mobile device.
The solution sounds like this, but to solve the issue you would need to perform some troubleshooting.
Let’s first review the possible causes and then proceed with the actual solutions.
Why Is My Total Wireless Data Not Working?
Your mobile data may be interrupted due to several reasons.
You must first find out if there is an outage in your area, since wireless data is almost always functional, without exceptions.
If there isn’t an outage preventing your phone from connecting with Total’s wireless data, then perhaps it is one of these reasons:
1. Enabled WiFi
If your phone is already connected to an existing WiFi network, your Total wireless data will become overwritten by the WiFi, thus not working.
2. Weak Signal/No Coverage
A weak or non-existent signal might also prevent you from using your Total’s wireless data.
3. 3G Signal
The 3G signal is becoming weaker by the day, and you will most often find yourself with no internet if your Total plan is using only 3G.
4. Expired Plan
If your Total plan has expired or you’ve used all of your Mbps for this month, you will have to update your plan or buy extra internet.
5. Temporal Glitch or Bug
Lastly, a simple malfunction with your SIM card or fault with your mobile device might prevent you from using your Total wireless data.
These are the main suspects that you will be focusing on in the upcoming solutions so let’s dive right in.
Total Wireless Data Issues
Since users are having issues on both operating systems, Android and iOS, we’ve prepared a separate solution guide for each.
The menus are different, the approaches are different so depending on your phone model and OS, follow the guide that is aligning best.
Let’s first begin with smartphones, running Android.
How To Fix Total Wireless Data Not Working (Android)?
If you’re having an Android device, proceed with the solutions below:
Solution #1 Turn OFF The WiFi
If your WiFi is turned ON and you’re connected to a network, the wireless data of Total will not be active until the WiFi is disabled or not connected.
We suggest going into the settings of your Android device and disabling the WiFi feature.
Make sure you have enabled the cellular data of Total to get connected with the web and start using your data.
Solution #2 Restart Your Device
We suggest rebooting your device next. If the issue is due to a temporal glitch or bug, then perhaps with a good restart, you might be able to resolve the issue.
Since after the restart you will be required to enter the PIN of your SIM card, you will reset ALL services and hopefully, the wireless data will be solved.
The most common way to restart your phone is by holding the power button until the power menu appears.
Choose “Restart” from the menu with the power options and wait for your phone to reboot.
Once running, insert your SIM PIN and check if the Total wireless data would work now.
Solution #3 Re-Insert The SIM Card
The next thing you can try is re-inserting your Total wireless data SIM card.
Sometimes it’s all about a discrepancy between the SIM card and your phone’s software and by re-inserting the SIM card, you will be able to fix the issue.
To re-insert the SIM card from your device, follow these steps:
- Grab a needle or the SIM tools shipped in your phone’s box.
- Insert it into the tiny needle hole above the SIM card slot.
- Take the card out, wait for 5 seconds and re-insert the SIM card.
- Close the compartment.
Note: It’s important to pay attention to how you insert the SIM card and if it properly fits.
Any displacement will prevent the card from being read by your device and none of the Total plan features will work.
Solution #4 Renew Subscription/Add Mbps
If you simply ran out of monthly Mbps or haven’t paid your Total subscription, this solution is exactly for that.
We suggest taking a look at the situation with your subscription plan and making sure everything is paid and that you have a decent amount of Mbps left.
Note: Make sure you have more than 300 Mbps of internet left to use it at maximum speed.
Keep in mind that if you download, live stream, or perform any high consumption action, your Mbps will end soon and you will be using the free speed, which is actually really slow.
How To Fix Total Wireless Data Not Working On (iPhone)?
Unlike with Android, there are some specific ways to troubleshoot your Total data on an iPhone.
On iPhone, you can also apply the solutions for the Android since they apply very well, and executing at least Solution #1 and Solution #2 is mandatory!
Solution #1 Reset Network Settings
A great way to troubleshoot your Total wireless data is by resetting the Network settings of your iPhone.
This process would simply wipe all of the network cache and WiFi settings, therefore fixing any cellular problems and making your internet run better.
Here is how to reset your iPhone’s network settings:
- Go to the settings of your iPhone.
- Scroll all the way down and tap“Reset”.
- Choose “Reset Network Settings”.
- Write your ID or fingerprint/face recognition to confirm.
- Tap “Erase All” and wait.
You will have to reconnect with all WiFi networks you were connected to by now and your Total wireless data will automatically shut down.
You will have to re-enable your cellular data to proceed using your internet.
Solution #2 Update Carrier Settings
Most often, iPhones may not run cellular data well if not updated. This is why we suggest checking for any carrier updates.
Update your iPhone’s firmware in the steps down below:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on the general tab and search for the “About” tab.
- Click on “Update” and wait for the page to load.
- If an update is available, you will be able to download & apply it from there.
If you’re updating your iPhone, it may restart but don’t worry. It will reboot the backup and you will be able to use Total’s wireless data easily.
Solution #3 Reset Your iPhone
Lastly, we suggest resetting your iPhone completely. We assume you have an iCloud, so their restoration process shouldn’t be a headache.
To reset your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Factory Reset > Reset ALL.
Confirm the process with any form of owner recognition and wait. It might take several minutes and once the update is finished, check if the Total data would work now.
Total Wireless Data Still Not Working…
Regardless of the OS on your device, if your Total wireless data is still not working after the series of solutions you’ve applied it’s time to ask for external help.
Reach out to Total carrier and describe your problem. Let them know how the problem began, what you’ve tried, and what’s the current state of the issue.
With a little luck, it might turn out to be an issue with your plan and be solved in minutes.
To fix Total wireless data on any device, first, reboot the device and update its firmware. Reset the network settings, renew the subscription or add Mbps. Then you can try to re-insert the SIM card and if nothing worked, reset the mobile device.
