What’s expected of you is to follow our solutions’ chronological order and pay attention to all of the tips, notes and alerts we’ve added.
Those are users’ opinions that could be crucial to settle the problem with your voicemail.
Let’s jump in!
Solution #1 Reboot your iPhone
First, we’ll be rebooting your iPhone, in case a temporal fault has stopped the voicemail from working.
Sometimes all it takes for a particular fault of this kind to go away is to reboot the system of your device.
This will clear the temporal cache of the iPhone and restart all online services, including voicemail.
Here’s how to reboot your mobile in two ways:
- Hardware Reboot – Hold the Power Button of your iPhone and Power it OFF
- Software Reboot – Navigate to Settings > General > Reboot and press “Yes”
If you’ve powered off your iPhone using the hardware button, you must then start up the device by holding the power button again.
Note: If your device is running low on battery, plug it into the charger while it is still rebooting.
Solution #2 Setup iPhone’s Voicemail
Chances are that your iPhone’s voicemail hasn’t been set up yet.
Even if you’ve signed up for the TELUS Voice and Visual Voicemail Service, your iPhone must have the feature set up before that.
Establishing the voicemail on your iPhone is done relatively easily and it doesn’t take longer than 2-3 minutes.
Here’s how to set up your iPhone’s voicemail in easy steps:
- From the home screen of your device, head to the “Phone” app.
- Press “Voicemail”.
- Enter your iPhone’s password.
- Press “Done”.
- Head to “Custom”.
- Record a greeting using the included button.
- Press “Record” to begin.
- To complete the setup, press “Done” or “Save”.
Note: Once the voicemail has been set up, you’ll be notified and sent a default mail.
Solution #3 Reinsert the SIM Card
Since TELUS wouldn’t know what WiFi you’re using, voicemail requires active cellular data and a SIM connection in order to activate the feature.
If there is an issue with your TELUS SIM Card, the voicemail feature will not work for your device. To settle this, you must Reinsert the SIM Card.
Here’s how to reinsert the SIM Card of your iPhone:
- Get a SIM Tool.
- Insert the tool into the SIM Tray’s pinhole on the left side panel.
- Take out the SIM Tray.
- Eject the SIM Card.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Place the SIM back into the tray.
- Position the tray back in your iPhone’ slot.
- Test…
Note: Once the SIM has been reinserted into your mobile, the signal bar should become active.
Solution #4 Change the Default Phone App
Chances are that there is a problem with the Default Phone App. The default messaging app of the iPhone – “Phone” could be undergoing a fault on your device.
You could use Google’s Phone App in order to check if really the default app of your iPhone doesn’t work on your software.
- You could acquire Google’s Messaging App from the App Store on your iPhone
Once you have Google’s Messaging App, head to Settings > Phone and set “Toggle “Phone App” to OFF.
After that, you’ll become eligible to select an alternative messaging app installed on your device’s software. Make sure to select “Google’s Phone App”.
Note: If changing your default app didn’t work, revert back to iPhone’s “iMessages”.
Solution #5 Disable Call Forwarding
When enabled, “Call Forwarding” could cause interference and issues with the incoming text and visual voicemails to your number.
In order to understand what has really gone wrong with your TELUS Voicemail, you should disable Call Forwarding and determine if that would solve the problem on your device.
- To disable Call Forwarding, head to Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding OFF
Once the feature is disabled, get a family person or a friend near you, and tell them to send a voicemail.
Knowing that their messaging service works well, you’ll determine whether the problem is on the sender or receiver’s end in your situation.
Note: There’s a chance that someone trying to send you voicemails has a device problem.
TELUS Visual Voicemail Not Working on iPhone – Fixed
If you’re experiencing issues with your TELUS Visual Voicemail, we’ll go over a couple more troubleshooting methods.
Before we proceed, make sure that you’ve tried everything, all of the solutions we’ve discussed above. They’ll also help with your TELUS Visual Voicemail.
Let’s jump into the methods now!
Method #1 Activate the Visual Voicemail
You’ll have to separately enable the TELUS Visual Voicemail, once you’ve signed up for the service.
Since this is a standalone addon to the regular voicemail that comes along with TELUS as a service, the Visual Voicemail is a feature that has a setup of its own.
Follow these instructions to enable TELUS’ Visual Voicemail on your iPhone:
- Tap on the SMS sent by TELUS, 24 hours after signing up to activate your Voicemail
Once signed up for TELUS, it will take an average 24 hours to receive an activation SMS that will include setup instructions for the Visual Voicemail.
All you have to do is press on the SMS to get redirected to the setup page.
Note: You’ll have to include personal or number information to activate the voicemail.
Method #2 Fix Coverage Issues
If your iPhone is out of coverage, no voicemails sent to your number will be intercepted and received.
In order to make sure that your iPhone is in coverage, we’ve listed some places related to your location that could most often cause interference or block signals.
Here are the places that could kill your coverage:
- Underground Compartments, Tunnels or Basements
- Province Places away from any radio towers
- Fields, Forests or Mountains Sites where the signal cannot reach
In general, make sure that your phone is out in the open where it can freely receive signals.
As long as you’re in a city within Canada, you should be fine with the signal.
Tip: Keep track of your signal’ strength, displayed in the indicator at the top-left.
Method #3 Reset the Network Settings
The last thing we’ll be trying is to Reset the Network Settings of your iPhone device.
Chances are that something in the network configuration has been made inappropriately and thus, your TELUS Voicemail won’t activate.
However, you should keep in mind that resetting the network settings will cause the deletion of all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Networks stored on your device.
Let’s now learn how to perform a “Network Reset” on your iPhone:
- Launch the Settings App of your iPhone.
- Navigate to “General”.
- Scroll all the way down and select “Reset”.
- Tap on “Reset Network Settings”.
- Confirm by inputting your iPhone’s PIN.
- Wait for the Network Reset to undergo.
Alert: All data affected by the Network Reset cannot be brought back. Proceed with caution!
