1. Set Up the “My Telstra” App
To convert from a physical SIM card into a Telstra eSIM, you’ll need to download the “My Telstra” mobile app on your device.
The Telstra app is simultaneously used for managing your physical or eSIM and provides access to many reception settings in a user-friendly interface.
How to Set Up “My Telstra” on iPhone?
- First, open the “App Store” on your mobile device.
- Click on the search button and type “My Telstra.”
- Open the app’s page and tap on the “Get” button.
- Confirm the action and open the newly added app.
- Enter your login information or sign up for the app.
How to Set Up “My Telstra” on Android?
- Open the “Google Play” app on your device.
- Type “My Telstra” on the search bar on top.
- Access the app’s page and tap on “Install”.
- Open the newly installed app on your phone.
- Finally, sign in to your Telstra mobile account.

- Select the “Get Help” option and go to “Mobiles and Tablets”.
- After that, select “Manage my SIM/eSIM/device” on the screen.
- Finally, click “Transfer or Restore eSIM” and select a service.
Remember that you will be prompted to specify the service you wish to transfer, so make sure to select your existing number.

1. Deactivate your eSIM
To resume using a physical SIM card, you must deactivate the Telstra eSIM through the “My Telstra” application.
The SIM deactivation will temporarily cease all services, such as Mobile Data, Calls, Messages and Data until you reinsert a physical SIM card into your device.
How to Deactivate eSIM On iPhone?
- First, on the smartphone, access the “My Telstra” app.
- After that, navigate to the “Settings” menu of the app.
- Choose “Mobile Data” from the on-screen options list.
- Select the eSIM you want to erase and tap “Erase SIM.”
How to Deactivate eSIM On Android?
- Firstly, open the “My Telstra” app on your mobile device.
- Then, advance to the “Settings” menu on the screen.
- Next, enter the “Network & Internet” option from the list.
- Choose the eSIM and tap “Remove Mobile Data Plan.”
Note: Deactivating the eSIM does not yield any extra costs!
2. Request a SIM Replacement
Once the eSIM is effectively deactivated, you can request a physical replacement of the eSIM by contacting Telstra’s support number at 00 44 800 856 0000.
You will only be provided a physical SIM card if you’ve already deactivated the eSIM associated with the number, so ensure you’ve gone through the previous step.
Notice: The delivery of the physical SIM may take between 1 and 3 days!
3. Insert the Physical SIM Card
Once you have the physical SIM card for your mobile number, use a pin to access the SIM tray on your mobile device’s left/right side panel.
After that, carefully position the SIM card and push the tray back into your mobile device to restore the service.
If the Telstra SIM takes too long to be recognised by the device, reboot your mobile device through the “Power” settings and wait until the software relaunches.

4. Log into your SIM Using the PIN Code
After the physical SIM card has been recognised successfully, a prompt should appear on the screen requesting the card’s PIN code.
