Why is Sky Glass not connecting to internet? Well, in this guide, we’ll take a closer look!
The Sky Glass TV and Sky Stream puck both connect via WiFi or a wired Ethernet connection to a Sky Hub or your own router.
When your Sky Glass is not connecting to the internet, the unit is disconnected, or your internet or WiFi is offline.

Sky Glass No Internet Connection | Causes!
Before troubleshooting, the first thing to consider is whether you use a wireless (WiFi) or a wired (Ethernet) internet connection on your Sky Glass.
The troubleshooting would differ according to the network setup connection, so verify your network type.
When you’re connected to your router via Ethernet cable, nothing could go wrong besides your internet going offline.
In contrast, WiFi has many possibilities for a lost connection on a Sky TV, involving everything from the coverage to interference and unit optimisation.
Here’s everything that can impact the internet connection on Sky Glass TV:
There are not many causes, but there are quite a few surrounding factors.
So, we recommend reading the below guide to uncover the top-tier solutions against Sky Glass TV internet issues!
How to Fix When Sky Glass Not Connecting to Internet?
Tip: Follow the solutions in the order that they are listed.
1. Check Whether You’re Offine!
The first step is to check whether you’re offline by testing your internet connection and WiFi on a device connected (preferably) via Ethernet.
However, if you haven’t got a machine connected to the router via wire, then connect to the router’s WiFi from another device besides the Sky Glass.
Connect to your WiFi or via Ethernet and test the connection!
This will help you understand whether the problem comes from your internet connection or with the Sky Glass TV.
If you have a strong internet connection, then the problem comes from the TV, and you would have to continue with the next step…
Note: If your internet is currently offline, this is the reason why your Sky Glass is not connecting!
2. Soft-Reset Your Sky Glass TV
The next step is to perform a soft reset known as a “power cycle” on your Sky Glass TV, which will reboot the operating system.
If your Sky Glass TV was previously connected to the WiFi but disconnected, the device will automatically attempt to reconnect when the Sky’s system reboots.
Here’s how to perform a power circulation on your Sky Glass TV:
- First, use the remote to turn off the Sky Glass.
- Then, unplug the adapter from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds while unplugged.
- Connect the adapter directly into the socket.
- Then, turn on the Sky Glass using the remote.
When the system fully loads, if your WiFi is accessible, the Sky Glass should automatically pair and become online.
So, wait a few minutes and test if you can stream on-demand Sky content.
3. Reset the Sky Glass Network!
Sometimes, the Sky Glass won’t connect to the internet because of a networking bug, but there is a very handy way to restore the connection.
On a Sky Glass TV, you can reset the network on the device from the settings and manually reconnect to the internet, so let’s learn how it’s done!
How to Reset the Sky Glass Network?
The steps below will show you how to reset the network on your Sky Glass, which will unpair the device from the WiFi.
So, you must later reconnect by following the instructions after the steps…
Here’s how to reset the Sky Glass network in easy steps:
- Press the “Home” button on the Sky Glass remote.
- Then, go to Settings and enter the “Network” tab.
- From there, go right until you see the “Reset” tab.
- Press “Select” to reset the network of your Sky TV.
Reminder: Follow the steps below to reconnect Sky Glass to the WiFi.
How to Connect Sky Glass Wirelessly?
- First, press the “Home” remote button to go back.
- Next, go to the Settings and enter the “Network”.
- Then, wait for the TV to discover your home WiFi.
- Select the correct SSID and insert the password.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to WiFi.
How to Connect Sky Glass via Ethernet?
To connect a Sky Glass to a router via Ethernet, you only need a long enough cable that plugs into a “yellow” port of your router and on the back of your Sky Glass or Sky Stream puck.
You don’t need any extra steps after connecting the cable, and your Sky Glass should come online.
Also, we recommend inspecting the connectors of the Ethernet cable for any defects or broken plastic, which might keep the cable loose.
If you discover any faults, replace the Ethernet cable.
Reminder: Double-check if your internet is online and your WiFi is accessible!
4. Power Cycle Your WiFi Router
If you cannot connect the Sky Glass TV to the WiFi or the Ethernet cable is connected, but the device is offline, perhaps the issue is with the network router.
The easiest step to optimise the network and resolve potential problems would be to power cycle your router via unplugging!
It’s enough to keep your device unplugged for about 60 seconds for the hardware to cool down, all network services to refresh and the network to restart.
Then, again, use a secondary device to test whether the WiFi is accessible and manually reconnect the Sky Glass TV to the network.
Tip: Straighten up the router antennas to optimise the signal coverage!
5. Relocate Your Devices Closer!
Sometimes, your Sky Glass TV is not connecting to the WiFi due to a considerable distance between both devices.
The Sky Glass supports both frequencies, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi, so when you’re using the faster one (5 GHz), the TV may not connect due to signal insufficiency.
We recommend switching from the 5 GHz WiFi to the 2.4 GHz WiFi or moving your devices closer to one another to optimise the signal strength.
To test this theory, you can also use any secondary device, such as a phone/tablet, to connect from the exact spot of your Sky Glass TV.
This will let you know whether the signal is strong enough for your Sky Glass to connect smoothly.
Note: Any other wireless devices (Bluetooth or RF) in the same room can interfere with your router's WiFi and prevent your Sky Glass from connecting.
6. Factory Reset Your Sky Glass TV
If nothing else helps, then it’s time to reset the operating system of your Sky Glass TV, which will most likely resolve the internet problem that you’re experiencing.
However, the factory reset has a significant downside–the Sky Glass content and settings will be permanently erased.
Here’s how to factory reset a Sky Glass TV in easy steps:
- Press the “Home” button and go to Settings.
- Then, enter the “System Management” tab.
- Locate and select “Reset and Updates.”
- Finally, choose “Factory Reset” and confirm.
When the factory reset is over, you will be prompted to complete the initial setup, which includes connecting to the internet.
When asked, select your option (Ethernet or WiFi), connect the TV to the internet and test whether you can stream on-demand Sky content without any interruptions.
