The red signal light on Foxtel Box iQ4, is typically related to a service connection problem!
However, there could be two red lights on your Foxtel iQ4 box.
One of them shows that you are currently recording, and the other, the “Status,” shows whether you’re connected to the service.
If you see a red signal light on your Foxtel iQ4 TV box, check if you are recording and power cycle the box. Also, we recommend reconnecting all the cables and resetting your Foxtel iQ box’s system.
Let’s unwrap how all of this is done!
How to Fix Red Signal Light on Foxtel Box iQ4?
The solution is easy, as long as you follow the steps in order!
1. Stop Ongoing Foxtel iQ4 Recording
If you see a red light on your Foxtel iQ4, you must verify that you’re not looking at the recording light, which turns red when capturing.
You might have accidentally pressed the “R” button on the remote, which triggers a capturing session on the currently highlighted show from the TV guide.
If that’s the case, pressing the “R” remote button should stop the ongoing recording, and the red light will disappear entirely.

2. Power Cycle the Foxtel iQ4 TV Box
You must perform a power circulation if you see a red “Status” light on your Foxtel iQ4 TV box and the pitch-black TV screen.
This method will not erase anything from the TV box but will reboot the device’s operating system and provide a fresh startup for your services.
Here’s how to power cycle the Foxtel iQ4 TV box in easy steps:
- Press the Power button on your Foxtel remote.
- This will sleep your cable box in Standby Mode.
- Disconnect the power adapter from your outlet.
- Also, unplug the connector from your box’s port.
- Wait for at least 3 minutes for the power cycle.
- Finally, reconnect the adapter and plug tightly.
When you’re ready, press the Power button on the Foxtel iQ4 remote to test whether you’ll have a picture and if the red light will continue.
Pro Tip: Keeping the Foxtel iQ4 TV box unplugged for longer works better!
3. Reconnect Your Foxtel iQ4 Wiring
If we exclude the power supply, there are two or three fundamental connections in your Foxtel iQ4 setup.
They vary based on whether you’ve got the internet-only or the satellite installation.
So, to solve the red signal light on your TV box, it’s necessary to unplug all these connections and reconnect them securely and correctly.
Here are the connections that your Foxtel iQ4 setup involves:
HDMI Connection Link
The HDMI connection is the primary bond between your TV (output monitor) and the Foxtel IQ4 TV box.
There is only one HDMI output on the Foxtel iQ4, but there could be multiple HDMI TV ports, so switch between them.
So, if you see a red light, unplug the HDMI on both sides, reconnect one end to your TV box and connect the other to a different HDMI TV port.
Reminder: If you connect the iQ4 to a different port on the TV, you must go to the “Inputs” or “Sources” menu to select it.
Optional: Aerial Cable
If you’re using a satellite (Aerial) service, connect the Coaxial cable to the “Aerial” port on your Foxtel iQ4.
The cable screws into the port, so avoid applying force inwards, instead, verify that the connector is screwed securely.
Optional: Ethernet Wire
If you’re using an Ethernet cable to deliver internet to your Foxtel iQ4 TV box from a modem, the reason for the red light could be a loose connection.
Hence, unplug the Ethernet cable from your TV box and modem and securely reconnect the connectors to their correct input ports.
Note: The Ethernet cable port on the Foxtel iQ4 is labelled “Ethernet” for easier recognition!
4. Check for Ongoing Foxtel Outages
Even if your Foxtel IQ4 is appropriately connected, the red status light could indicate the device is out of service.
You can be sure it’s an outage if you see errors F0100, F100, F0106 or F106.
This happens when Foxtel is undergoing maintenance work, and the service is unavailable for you and all subscribers in the area.
So, based on your service connection, check for ongoing outages:
- For Cable TV (Aerial), check the Telstra’s Outage Page.
- For Satellite, you must check the weather for obstruction.
- For internet-only setup, check the nbn Status Identifier.
Regarding the satellite connection and weather, your signal may be disrupted due to clouds, thunderstorms, heavy rain/snow or anything that covers the sky.
Tip: Check your SMS for a notification message about an ongoing outage!
5. Reconnect Foxtel iQ4 to the Internet
If you see a Foxtel box iQ4 red light with an internet-only setup, you may need to optimise your internet/Wi-Fi first and then reconnect the TV box securely.
Without an internet connection, you won’t be able to access any of the online content on your Foxtel iQ4, such as the applications.
This may produce a red signal light, so here’s how to fix it:
Step #1 Internet Optimisation
- Power cycle the networking modem.
- Shorten the Wi-Fi distance proximity.
- Dislocate interfering electronic units.
- Disconnect devices from your Wi-Fi.
- Reconnect the nbn/modem Ethernet.
Step# 2 Connect to the Wi-Fi
To connect a Foxtel iQ4 to the Wi-Fi correctly, follow the steps below:
- Press the Home button on the iQ4 Foxtel remote.
- Then, go to the Settings → “Internet Connection.”
- Next, select the “Set up Wi-Fi” button to proceed.
- Locate your Wi-Fi SSID in the list, and then select.
- Insert the password to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Tip: If you have used the 5 GHz Wi-Fi until now, try switching to the slower, more reliable Wi-Fi frequency–2.4 GHz.
Step #3 Connect via Ethernet
Warning: If you’re using Wi-Fi, you must NOT connect an Ethernet cable, and vice versa!
If you’ve decided to use a wired connection, you need to connect your modem and iQ4 TV box with a long enough Ethernet cable.
On the modem’s side, you’ll need to use the “LAN” port and your Foxtel iQ4 side, plug the cable into the “Ethernet” port.
Pro Tip: If you have a WPS button on your modem, you can pair both devices wirelessly by pressing this button on the two instances within 2 minutes.
6. Update Your Foxtel iQ4 Box System
One of the most potent steps against a red light on Foxtel box iQ4 TV box is the system upgrade, which can be done manually.
If you’re running an outdated version, software conflicts likely prevent your device from receiving service.
Here are the steps to update your Foxtel iQ4 system easily:
- Ensure that you’re seeing the iQ4 picture on the TV.
- Put the iQ4 box to Standby using the Power button.
- Press and hold the Standby button for ∼5 seconds.
- Wait for the front LED indicator to turn in blue.
- Release the Standby button and press it three times.
This will start the update on your Foxtel iQ4, so you must wait until you see the “Preparing your iQ now.”
Shortly after this message, you’ll be allowed into the dashboard to check whether the red light is still there.
If yes, continue reading!
7. Reset the System of Your Foxtel iQ4
You can reset your Foxtel iQ4 system in two ways.
One is the soft reset, which only deletes the cache data, signing you out from all apps.
The other is the factory reset, a far more harsh method, completely reinstalling the operating system, and erasing all your records and settings.
Warning: Data loss after the factory reset can’t be recovered!
Soft-Reset (Cache Data Deletion)
- Go to the Settings → “Advanced Settings.”
- Choose “Reset iQ System” → “Yes, Reset.”
- Enter the PIN code using your box’s remote.
- Info: The default iQ4 PIN code is “1-2-3-4.”
- Follow all the on-screen steps until the end.
Full-Reset (Complete OS Deletion)
- First, press the “Home” button and go to “Settings.”
- From there, enter the “Advanced Settings” menu.
- Press the remote buttons in order: “0-6-1-1-Select.”
- When the prompt appears, select “Installer Setup.”
- Finally, confirm the iQ4 reset by pressing “Select.”
When your Foxtel iQ4 TV box is reset, you can check whether the red light is solved!
Quick Recap:
Hence, when you see a red signal light on Foxtel Box iQ4, begin with power circulation and reconnecting the wires.
In addition, you may need to update the firmware of the iQ4 box, reconnect the device to the internet, and carry out the soft or factory system reset.
