If you’re experiencing a low-volume problem on a Peloton tablet with AirPods, then there are a lot of things to inspect.
So, we’ve prepared a complete step-by-step guide to solve your issue!
1. Unpair & Pair AirPods to Peloton
A quick solution coming from affected users that is proven to help is to unpair your AirPods from the Peloton tablet and pair them to an Apple device.
Then, you must play some music and boost the volume all the way up before unpairing from the Apple device and pairing it with the Peloton.
Step #1 Upair AirPods
The quickest way to unpair AirPods from all devices is to put them in their charging case with the lid open and hold the button on the back for 5 seconds.
This will reset them, and they will no longer be paired with your Peloton.
Step #2 Pair to Apple
The next step is to pair the earbuds to an Apple device simply by taking them out of the case and putting them near the Apple device.
When the prompt appears, approve the pairing prompt, and your earbuds will get paired.
Step #3 Play Music
It’s time to play music from your Apple device onto your earbuds and increase the volume to the maximum.
This will also help you determine if the volume issue is from the Peloton appliance or your AirPods.
Step #4 Pair to Peloton
To pair your AirPods to Peloton, unpair them from your Apple device and go to the “Available Devices” screen on the tablet.
Then, select your AirPods from there and wait until you see the “Paired” screen.
When ready, touch the Peloton logo to go back and test the earbud’s volume. If the problem continues, keep reading!
2. Stop Peloton *Absolute Volume*
The reason why most people hear the Peloton volume too low with AirPods is due to a software limitation called “Absolute Volume.”
This is a developer’s option and is not accessible through the visible menus, so you must know where to look to locate and disable the absolute volume.
Here’s an easy steps to disable the Peloton’s absolute volume:
- First, go to Settings and find Build Number.
- Tap on build number 7 x consecutive times.
- You will see a message for developer options.
- Return to the previous menu and scroll down.
- Then, enter the “Developer Options” section.
- Locate and disable the “Absolute Volume.”
Your AirPods should be blasting now!
3. Clear the Bluetooth Cache Data!
Since AirPods connect via Bluetooth to your fitness appliance, Peloton volume issues typically arise due to Bluetooth-related issues.
Some of them could be due to wireless interference, but others can also be present whenever the software is conflicting with the wireless Bluetooth link.
Here’s how to clear the Bluetooth cache on Peloton:
- First, enter the Settings on your Peloton.
- Then, select and enter “Device Settings.”
- Go to “Bluetooth” and Forget everything!
- Restart the Peloton device via “Shutdown.”
- Pair the AirPods again and test the volume.
This method helped a lot of people, and if the volume is now standard, then the fault is coming from the system, and we recommend a firmware upgrade.
So update your Apple AirPods and the Peloton tablet’s system to ensure smooth and wireless music streaming.
Tip: Verify that your AirPods are sufficiently charged!
4. Factory Reset AirPods & Peloton
If you continue to experience volume issues with your Peloton and AirPods, we recommend resetting both instances and testing again.
The factory reset process is a last-resort solution that will delete everything from your devices, including saved connections, data, and personal settings.
How to Factory Reset Peloton?
- First, enter the Settings on your Peloton.
- Then, go to the “System” from the menu.
- Tap the “Factory Reset” tile and confirm.
- Wait until your Peloton device is resetting.
This will reset your Peloton fitness appliance to factory settings, and when ready, you will need to set up your device from scratch.
The initial setup involves all the personalization settings and connecting your device to the internet, after which you may pair your AirPods and test the audio.
How to Factory Reset AirPods?
- First, put the AirPods in their charging case.
- Then, verify that the case’s lid remains open.
- Next, hold the Setup button for 15 seconds.
- Release when the case starts flashing amber.
- When the light turns white, the buds are reset.
When your AirPods are reset, pair them with the Peloton appliance again and test if the volume will remain low.
If yes, double-check if the “Absolute Volume” in the developer’s options of your Peloton tablet is disabled.
5. Listen to Something Else!
If the issue continues, perhaps the volume problem is not from your Peloton tablet or AirPods, instead, the quiet sound is from the currently streamed media.
If you’re facing the issue only on one specific broadcast, then switching to another may suggest that the issue is content-based.
However, if the problem comes from a particular workout video or any other type of low-volume content, there is nothing to worry about.
In those cases, the problem is not in your equipment.
Quick Recap:
Hence, when the Peloton volume is too low through the tablet or AirPods, you must disable the “Absolute Volume” from the developer’s options on your Peloton tablet.
In addition, we recommend clearing the Bluetooth cache and re-pairing your AirPods to the Peloton.
