Peloton Bike Touch Screen Not Working – 6 Ways to Fix!
Tip: Follow our steps in chronological order!
1. Check the Peloton Monitor’s Connections!
The monitor cable of the Peloton Bike is split into two jacks, assigning a different function to the fitness appliance.
One of the monitor cable’s jacks is supposed to connect with the “Data” port on the monitor, and the other jack should plug with the “Power” supply connector.
Here’s how to install the monitor cable of the Peloton Bike properly:
- Disconnect the Peloton Bike’s monitor cable from the back.
- Examine the cables and identify the “Data” and “Power” jacks.
- Locate the “Data” port on the back of the Peloton Bike monitor.
- Connect the “Data” jack of the monitor cable to the “Data” port.
- Plug the “Power” jack of the monitor cable into the “Power” port.
If you have issues identifying the difference between the “Power” and “Data” ports, you must test the monitor cable into each port until the bike’s monitor lights up.
Typically, the difference between the two jacks isn’t significant, so you may have difficulty telling them apart quickly.
Notice: Verify that the monitor cable of the Peloton Bike isn’t damaged!
2. Reset the Peloton Bike’s Power Supply!
There could be a failure with the power supply of the Peloton fitness appliance, resulting in an issue with the bike monitor.
Hence, we advise power cycling the Peloton Bike device to address insufficiency in the power supply or fluctuations in the power adapter or the electrical outlet.
Follow these steps to perform a power cycle on the Peloton Bike:
- Disconnect the power adapter of the bike from the outlet.
- Unplug the other end of the cable from the Peloton Bike.
- Wait for 60 seconds while the Peloton Bike is discharging.
- Next, reinstall the power adapter of the bike into the supply.
- Wait until the Peloton Bike turns on and test the functionality.
Verify that the power cord is secured with the electrical outlet and the power port on the back of the Peloton Bike.
If any equipment is loose, the Peloton Bike might not receive enough power to function correctly.
3. Clean the Peloton Bike’s Power Jack!
The power cable of the Peloton Bike might be unable to establish a proper connection with the jack if there’s an obstruction or dust accumulation.
The next step is to verify that the power cable of the Peloton Bike can freely connect with the power jack on your exercise appliance.
So, unplug the power adapter from both ends and press the monitor’s power button to discharge the bike.
After that, use a vacuum cleaner and an ear stick to clean the jack and verify that the bike’s adapter can be securely connected to the power jack.
Note: A defective power jack is an issue that must be reported to Peloton Customer Support!
4. Deactivate the Peloton “Sleep Mode”
There’s a chance that the Peloton monitor has entered a “Sleep” mode after being inactive for longer than 20 minutes.
The sleep mode timer is set to “20 minutes” by default, but its duration can be adjusted from the system settings of the Peloton Bike’s display.
- To deactivate the bike’s “Sleep Mode,” hold the “Power” button for 15 seconds!
After 15 seconds, stop holding the button and press it three times consecutively. Check if the display of the Peloton Bike will now light up.
After releasing, check if the power button is stuck by pressing it more.
A stuck power button could potentially keep the Peloton monitor deactivated, as the power supply to the display is constantly being suppressed.
Tip: Contact Peloton if there’s a defect with the monitor’s power button!
5. Restore the Peloton Screen’s Data!
If the display is lit, but none of the workout information is correct or displayed, there could be an issue with the internet connection.
One of the absolute necessities for a Peloton Bike to work correctly is maintaining a stable and reliable internet connection with the home’s Wi-Fi network.
The Peloton Bike must be in a 15-20 meter range from the network’s Wi-Fi router!
Follow these steps to reconnect the Peloton Bike to a Wi-Fi network:
- Navigate to the homepage on the Peloton Bike’s monitor.
- Press the Wi-Fi icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Wait for the Wi-Fi scanner to discover nearby networks.
- Next, select your home Wi-Fi network from the options.
- Enter the SSID key for your household Wi-Fi network.
- Press on the “Connect” button to pair the Peloton Bike.
If the Peloton Bike has successfully established a connection with the Wi-Fi, all of the workout information should be restored on the display.
Mount the bike and press “Quick Start” to test if the connection is secure to begin a test workout.
Reminder: Hold the monitor’s power button for 10 seconds after pairing the bike to Wi-Fi!
6. Plug Peloton into a Different Outlet!
There could be fluctuations in the power supply of the electrical outlet where the Peloton Bike appliance is connected.
To determine if the power income of the bike is stable, it is advised to connect the appliance to an alternative nearby electrical outlet.
If possible, we recommend plugging the Peloton Bike into an outlet from a different room to be able to test the voltage from a different fuse on your primary circuit.
This approach will eliminate the possibility of a faulty power source, and hopefully, your bike’s touchscreen will start working.
Unplug All Third-Party Power Equipment!
You should note that a potential malfunction with third-party equipment installed in the Peloton Bike’ setup could result in power fluctuations with the equipment.
Verify that the power cord of the Peloton Bike is connected directly to a wall outlet.
Info: Avoid using power dividers, smart plugs, or extension cords in your Peloton setup!
