In your case, we assume that you’re seeing blinking orange lights, which seem off compared to green ones.
This means that you’re not getting the best speeds out of your Luxul networking setup.
To fix your Luxul system blinking orange light issue, you want to make sure you’re getting fast internet speeds. Change your router’s DNS settings, so your connections are faster. Replacing your cables that support Gigabit Ethernet can quickly turn your blinking orange light to green.
Before moving to the complete fix guide, let’s first look at the different reasons that can cause this particular issue.
Why Luxul Router System Light Blinking
Your Luxul router can blink both in green and orange. There’s nothing wrong when it lights up green since it means your device is working fine.
However, when it starts blinking orange, it cannot provide the fastest possible connection speeds.
Here are the primary sources of the blinking light issue on your Luxul router:
1. Slow Internet Speeds
If your Luxul router is blinking orange, you know that you’re facing a bandwidth issue.
Slow internet speeds can cause this, especially if it’s bottlenecked by slow internet service.
2. Faulty Ethernet cables
Ethernet cables come in a variety of types. There are regular ones that are fast, but not blazingly fast as gigabit Ethernet.
Your Luxul knows which cables are connected as it lights up orange for the slower cable type.
3. Outdated Device Firmware
Your Luxul router’s firmware can also cause this issue, especially if it detects an incompatibility with your network settings.
4. Using Unoptimized Settings
Using the best possible settings allow you to get the most out of your devices. If you don’t, it can be slow and cause issues with your connection.
Now that you have a better understanding of the causes of this particular problem, we can now proceed to the complete troubleshooting guide!
How to Fix Luxul System Light Blinking
If you see your Luxul router’s lights blinking orange from green, the first you need to do is restart it.
Power it off using the switch at the back, then turn it on again. Doing this can solve many temporary issues saving you time and effort.
However, if a restart does not do the job, here are the other troubleshooting steps you can do:
Solution #1: Power Cycle Your Luxul System Devices
You want to do an advanced version of a restart. It’s possible that you don’t only have a Luxul router as they also offer different products.
You could have a mesh system or an access point that links with your router.
You want to reboot these devices since the issue can be isolated to only a segment in your network.
Here’s how to power cycle your Luxul and network devices:
- Switch OFF your router, access points, extenders, and mesh devices.
- Pull their plugs out of the socket.
- Wait for 2 to 5 minutes.
- Switch ON your router first and wait for it to connect to the internet.
- Switch ON the rest of your devices.
Note: You can now check if you’re still getting the blinking orange light error after performing a power cycle.
Solution #2: Check Your Internet Speeds Directly from the Gateway
At this point, you want to make sure that the problem is not coming from your internet provider.
To check this, you will need to test it by connecting your computer directly to the gateway or modem rather than directing it to the router.
Here’s how to do it:
- Unplug the Ethernet cable that connects your modem and router.
- Connect the Ethernet cable from your modem directly to your laptop.
- Make sure you set your laptop to Obtain IP address and DNS automatically.
- Once you have internet, check your speeds via SpeedTest.net.
- Make sure it’s the speed advertised for your subscription.
Tip: If it’s significantly slower, you can contact your internet provider to know if there’s an outage or problem with your line.
Solution #3: Replace Your Cables with Gigabit Ethernet
Even if you’re connected wirelessly, certain links still need an Ethernet cable.
For example, your modem to router or mesh will still be hardwired for optimum performance.
If the cable that connects these is not the gigabit variety, you can experience the blinking lights issue.
Here’s how to replace the cables on your Luxul system:
- Get an Ethernet cable that says Cat 5, 5E, or 6.
- Remove the current cable that connects your modem and router.
- Plug one end of your new cable to the modem.
- Connect the other end to the WAN port on your router.
- Check if the blinking light turns green.
Note: There are also Ethernet cables that are higher than Cat 6, but they’re hard to find.
Solution #4: Change Your Router’s DNS Settings
Your DNS settings can affect your network’s overall performance.
If you see a blinking orange light and it’s not the cables or your ISP, you want to look at your router’s settings.
Here’s how to change your Luxul router’s DNS settings:
- Open your router’s dashboard by logging in via a web browser.
- Navigate to Quick Setup.
- Select DHCP as the Connection Type.
- Click on the Primary DNS checkbox.
- Enter a public DNS server of your choice.
Tip: You can use Cloudflare’s DNS server by entering 1.1.1.1 or Google’s 8.8.8.8.
Alert: The default admin username is admin, and the default admin password is also admin.
Solution #5: Update Your Luxul Devices with the Latest Firmware
Luxul devices allow you to update their firmware automatically. Whether it’s their routers or mesh systems, you should be able to do it in a few clicks.
Updating to the latest version fixes any incompatibilities and offers you better overall performance resolving the blinking light issue.
Here’s how to update your Luxul router:
- Open your web browser and log in to your router’s dashboard.
- Navigate to Administration or Admin.
- Select Auto Update.
- Click on the Check & Update button.
- Wait for the update to download and install.
Solution #6: Factory Reset Your Luxul Systems
If none of the previous troubleshooting steps work and resolve your issue, you can perform a factory reset.
Since we’ve ruled out your ISP, cables, firmware, and networking settings, our only suspect would be something in your current router’s configuration or hardware issue.
Restoring your Luxul router to factory settings should give you a clean slate to work with and resolve this particular issue.
Here’s how to reset your Luxul router:
- Log in to your router’s dashboard.
- Go to the Admin or Administration tab.
- Click on Factory Defaults.
- Select Reset.
- Wait for it to complete the process.
Note: You will need to reconfigure your device after the reset is completed.
At this point, we can start thinking about a hardware issue if a reset does not get rid of the problem.
You can contact Luxul customer support to get your device replaced or repaired. Another option is to get a new router and replace your current one.
