If you are reading this post, you are probably experiencing the Koodo text messages not sending errors.
This is quite a specific problem that affects some devices. It is more common when texting between android and iPhone.
However, the same issue can occur when texting on any phone. The good news is that we have just the perfect solution.
To solve the Koodo text message not sending problem, you have to reset your APN.
If this fails, you have to call Koodo and ask them to reset the messaging from their end. However, there are more advanced solutions you can apply.
There are many other simple solutions to the same problem you may want to apply. Read further to find out more.
Reasons Behind Koodo Text Messages Not Sending
You may be wondering what will happen if I can not send text messages to Koodo.
The solution is simple, just troubleshoot to find out the problem and apply the appropriate solution.
Some of the most common problems affecting Koodo users:
- The phone may not have received and installed the appropriate Koodo APN settings.
- The phone network settings may have been tampered with
- The Koodo system may be experiencing an internal error that needs an internal solution.
- You might have attempted to port your SIM card from one provider to another incompletely.
There are many other reasons you may want to consider when attending to your Koodo SIM SMS issue.
Some of the problems are based on the Koodo system while others are independent.
Solutions to Koodo SMS Sending Problem
The first thing you should do is troubleshoot common issues. You may want to check and see if there is coverage.
If all other Koodo users have coverage and can send messages, the problem is clearly not related to coverage.
The other options you may want to try include restarting your system and changing between 3G, 4G and LTE among others.
If you have already looked at these options, move to troubleshoot.
Solution #1 Reset Your Phone Networks
If you have checked and ascertained that your phone has sufficient Koodo coverage, try resetting your networks.
This can be a solution that will restore your network connection and allow you to receive messages.
Reset phone networks on iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Select General(Management)
- Select Reset
- Select Reset Network Settings
- Your phone may require that you confirm by entering your password or pin.
Reset mobile networks on android
- Go to your Settings
- Select System
- Select Advanced
- Select Reset Options
- Select Reset Network Settings
- Tap on Reset Settings to complete the process
Note: Once you finish resetting your networks, you have to reconfigure your passwords and other network preferences.
Solution #2 Reset Your Phone APN Settings
The second solution to this problem is resetting APNs. When you purchase a new device or SIM card, you also have to reset your APN.
On most devices, you will receive settings from your carrier. If the settings are not sent to your SIM card, you have to add them manually.
How to Update APN Settings on Android
- Go to Settings
- Select Mobile Networks
- Select Access Point Names
- Select Add/Edit New APN
- Enter the exact details in the APN fields as provided below
Koodo APN details for android device
- Name: Koodo
- APN: sp.Koodo.com
- Proxy: Blank
- Port: Blank
- Username: Blank
- Password: Blank
- Server: Blank
- MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
- MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/Koodo/mmsc
- MMS port: 80
- MCC: 302
- MNC: 220
Note: For all fields where indicated "blank", ensure that there is no content. If there is already content in that specific field delete it.
How to Update APN Settings on iPhone
- Go to Settings on your phone
- Select Mobile
- Tap on Mobile Data
- Under Mobile Data select Network Provider Settings
- Edit the fields with the necessary information
Details of the iPhone APN settings are:
- Name: Koodo
- APN: sp.Koodo.com
There should be content in any other field that is under APN, do not change anything else apart from the Name and APN.
Solution #3 Turn on SMS Messaging on iMessenger
If you are an iPhone user, your problem could actually be your messaging app rather than Koodo.
The problem with the iPhone’s primary messaging app is that it relies on the internet. You can either turn on SMS messaging or stick to online messaging.
If you are using online messaging, you will not be able to send messages when offline. This can be the cause of your problem if you regularly switch off data.
How to turn on SMS messaging on iMessenger
- Go to your Settings
- Select Messages
- Select iMessenger
- If iMessenger is off Turn it on
- Tap OK to confirm
- Click to turn on Send as SMS
Note:Only adjust the settings if the SMS messaging option has been turned off. If it is turned on, you do not have to do anything.
Solution #4 Complete SIM Card Porting Process
The other reason why your phone may fail to send messages is if your porting process is incomplete.
If porting has not been completed, some functions may fail. This usually happens, if you fail to follow all the instructions during number porting.
How to complete your phone porting:
- Log in to the Koodo Self-Serve account
- Select Transfer Number
- Enter the Phone Number you wish to transfer
- Enter all the required details in the Service Detail fields
- Review all your details and hit Submit
- Your previous mobile service provider will send instructions to your phone on your old SIM card
- Reply YES to complete porting your number
Note: If you receive your SMS in French, do not reply with "Oui" as instructed. Instead, reply with "Yes" to ensure that the process is complete.
Solution #5 Run Your Phone in Safe Mode to Troubleshoot Issues
The other solution you have is to run your phone in Safe Mode. This is where you turn off most of your phone features and allow your phone to carry out self-diagnosis.
When you start your phone in safe mode, only key primary features are left functioning. These features include SMS messaging, calling and internet access among others.
This option turns off all other apps that may be affecting your phone messaging apps.
To operate your phone in safe mode do the following:
- Press and hold the Power Button
- When power options show up on your screen press and hold on Restart.
- The phone will give you the option to Restart in Safe Mode
- Tap once to restart your phone in Safe Mode
- Once your phone starts in Safe Mode, try sending a message to someone to see if it works.
- If it does not work, wait about 10 minutes and restart your phone normally.
When your phone restarts, it should have diagnosed and resolved most issues affecting messaging.
Try sending a message to someone to see if it works. If it does not, try the next solution.
Solution #6: Call Koodo to Request Messaging Reset
If all options fail, you will have to call Koodo and request to have your messaging reset. This is a rare situation where you may need to request a message reset.
It happens when your phone fails to send messages abruptly. If you realize that your phone sends SMS to some phones but fails on others, call Koodo.
How to call Koodo
- Visit Koodo.com/chat to find a solution to your issue
- If you do not get a solution, schedule a callback
- The Koodo team will call you back within 12 hours
- Explain your situation to the agent to help you reset your SMS system.
Summary
If all the above options fail in solving Koodo text messages not sending errors, the only solution is to call Koodo.
If you call Koodo, you have to be specific about the problem and get it solved.
However, ensure that you try fixing your phone before calling Koodo.
