These are the possible reasons why ITVX is not working on your Mac.
However, there are even more small factors that we’ve included in the guide below, so without further ado, let’s jump in!
How To Fix When ITVX Not Working on Mac?
Tip: Following the steps consecutively will help you with troubleshooting!
1. Use Only the Official ITVX Website!
Even though this is obvious, the first step should be to verify that you’re landing on the only official ITVX website.
So, go to itv.com/watch/pair and sign in with your ITVX details.
Upon signing in, you should be sent to the home screen, from where you can select what to watch.
If something goes wrong or you are unable to sign in or stream, continue reading!
2. Verify Your Mac Internet Connection
If the ITVX website is loading very slowly, or you’re facing interruptions while streaming the ITVX content, then perhaps your internet connection is the culprit.
The optimal internet speed for ITVX streaming is 2 Mbps and above, so feel free to perform a speed test to determine this.
The most straightforward step to optimize your internet is to reboot your router!
Also, any fluctuations in your internet connection or WiFi could lead to ITVX content interruptions and platform crashes.
So, if you’re on a MacBook, verify that your WiFi is reliable and consistent. If you’re on an iMac, check whether the Ethernet cable works!
Note: Proceed further into the guide only if you’re confident that your internet/WiFi is intact.
3. Sign Out and In Your ITVX Account!
Sometimes, something simple is enough to resolve your problems with streaming ITVX on your Mac computer.
Before going further into the guide, we recommend simply signing out and entering your ITVX account through your web browser.
Here’s how to sign out and then in your ITVX account through the web:
- First, verify that you’re using the web ITVX.
- Then hover your cursor above your name.
- Click on your name to reveal all the settings.
- From the list, select the “Sign Out” option.
- Then, you’ll be redirected to the sign-in page.
- Insert your ITVX credentials to sign back in.
Note: When you’re back into your ITVX account, test whether you can stream anything!
4. Clear Your Browser’s Cache Data!
In most cases, the problems regarding streaming ITVX online come from the browser and, to be exact, from the browser’s cache data.
Fortunately, on your Mac, you can address this problem, and we will discuss how on the default, Apple Safari, or the Google Chrome browser.
Apple OS Safari:

Note: After clearing your browser’s cache, you’ll be signed out from ITV's website!
5. Update Your Apple Mac Computer
Sometimes, you cannot stream ITVX through your browser on a Mac computer due to compatibility issues with your operating system.
So, the best course of action would be to go into your Mac’s settings and scan for any available updates you can download now!
Simply go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Update Software!
Then a small window will remain open that will show you the scanning and whether there are any updates available for your Mac.
If yes, we recommend allowing your computer to update to the latest operating system version so that you can stream ITVX without any interruptions!
Note: With a slow internet connection, the updates on your Mac might take a while!
6. Temporarily Disable Mac Firewall
One of the fundamental reasons the ITVX web streaming is not working on your Mac is a conflict with the Firewall security.
Well, since ITVX is a proven and reliable source, it’s safe to disable the Firewall on your Mac, only for a few moments, to check whether ITVX will work!
Here’s how to temporarily disable the Firewall on your Mac:
- First, click on the Apple logo (Apple Menu).
- Then, click on the “System Preferences” tile.
- In the following tab, select “Security & Privacy”.
- Then, click on the “Firewall” tab from the top.
- Next, click on the “Lock” icon in the left corner.
- Input the Apple ID and password to grant access.
- Then, verify that the Firewall is disabled to test.
When your Firewall is disabled, restart your web browser, return to the official ITVX website, and test streaming.
Note: To re-enable your Firewall later, simply follow the same steps in reverse!
Disable Any VPN Connection!
In addition, you should be informed that ITVX is only available inside the United Kingdom, so if you’re located in any other country, you’ll be unable to access it.
So, if you’re in the UK, you need to disable your VPN to access it, and if you’re outside the UK, enable a VPN to bypass it.
Tip: We recommend using Atlas VPN to access ITVX from anywhere worldwide!
7. Check for ITVX Service Outages!
If nothing helps, and you’re still unable to stream ITVX on your Mac, then perhaps the problem is not on your side.
You can check for any tweets about ITVX outages on their official web page under “Latest service status updates.”
Simply go to ITVX Help to check for outages!
If you see any recent tweets posted on X, then it’s likely that the ITVX team is currently performing maintenance, during which nobody can access their streaming services.
All you can do in those cases is wait until the problem is addressed and resolved.
Note: Typically outages last up to 2-3 hours at a time!
Why is ITVX Live Not Working on MacBook?
ITVX Live wouldn’t work for the same reasons we’ve already addressed as with the on-demand content.
However, you can test whether the ITVX will work when accessed on a different device and not your MacBook.
So if you can test, you’ll be able to identify further why you’re facing issues with ITVX web streaming.
In addition, if you have a different computer to test whether the web streaming there works, you’ll be able to tell where the issue is coming from.
Best of luck!
