3. Clear Your ITVX Browser Cache
If you’re streaming ITVX through a web browser, then it’s likely that the picture is not showing because of your browser.
We strongly recommend using Google Chrome to stream ITVX and if you’re using a different browser, you can download Chrome to test with anytime.
If you already have the Google Chrome browser, then perhaps the picture issue with ITVX is coming from the cache data.
So, here’s how to clear the cache data on Chrome in easy steps:
- Close and reopen your Google Chrome!
- Then, click on the menu with the 3 dots.
- Hover your cursor over the “History” tile.
- Then, move left and click on “History”.
- Click on “Clear Browsing Data” on the left.
- Then, verify to check all of the checkboxes.
- Finally, click on the blue “Clear Data” button.
Hot Tip: We strongly recommend restarting your Google Chrome browser, and then going to the ITVX website to test whether the picture is back.
4. Verify the ITVX Device’s Internet
Sometimes, you might experience severe ITVX buffering, which sometimes looks like the picture is gone but the audio continues playing.
In those cases, the main suspect is the internet or WiFi of the ITVX playout device, which involves the internet speed and WiFi stability/consistency.
Streaming ITVX requires an internet speed of at least 2.5 Mbps!
You can perform a free internet speed test anytime, to check whether the speed is below 2.5 Mbps and if yes, try to optimise your network.
Also, you can easily test whether your WiFi or internet is dropping by attempting to stream any videos from other platforms such as YouTube and Netflix.
Pro Tip: In case of local network outages, power cycle your WiFi router!
