- Method #2 – Get a brand-new number and your old account will also disconnect
We know that switching your number could be a real headache, especially if you own a business number.
That’s why we’ve included both of the methods to transferring on iD Mobile and how to keep your old number, only if you want.
With that settled, let’s learn how to transfer your number to iD Mobile!
iD Mobile Number Transfer- Easy Steps
After reviewing what are the possible options for transferring to your number, let’s begin with the guide.
Keep in mind that after performing the transfer, a SIM card must be sent to you by iD Mobile in order to use your subscription’s benefits.
Method #1 Keep your Old Carrier’s Number
Nobody wants to lose their number when switching providers. Giving your number away over and over again is bothersome, to say the least.
That’s why ID has designed a way to keep your old carrier’s number, even when switching to an alternative network – IDs.
Let’s review in a step-by-step how transferring, but keeping your old number works:
Step #1 Get the Porting Authorization Code (PAC)
Your first step is to Acquire the PAC. The Porting Authorization Code, often shortened as “PAC”, is a unique identifier, normally 9 characters long.
The code is used by providers to facilitate their number portability. It is used by ID to retain your old number during the switch.
To acquire the PAC, you would simply have to send an SMS to the service number of the ID and wait for a reply, containing the PAC.
Follow these instructions to get it:
- Ensure that the Old SIM Card is still inserted into your mobile phone.
- Turn on the device and navigate to the “Messaging App”.
- Go to “New Message”.
- At the receiver field, fill in the “65075” contact number.
- In the messaging field, type “PAC”.
- Press “Send”.
- Wait…
On short notice, you should receive a reply from the same recipient, containing your PAC number.
Photograph or write down the 9-digit number since you’ll soon need it for the switch.
Note: Based on the occupation of the employees, the reply could take longer than usual.
Step #2 Navigate to Number Switch Page
Once you’re in possession of your number’s PAC, it’s time to send it to ID.
After iD Mobile has acquired your PAC, the transfer will begin and you’ll soon get the benefits from your purchased plan.
However, keep in mind that if you haven’t yet selected a plan for iD Mobile, you’ll have to make the payment and then include your PAC number.
Let’s review the two different scenarios, in which you’re subscribed or not:
Not yet subscribed to iD Mobile:
- Navigate to ID’s official website.
- Head to the SIM Only Deals page.
- Scroll down and browse the iD Mobile Recommended Plans.
- Select one of the plans.
- Fill in the required Payment Information.
Already subscribed to iD Mobile:
- If you’re already a member of iD Mobile, go Switch To iD Mobile
Choose your iD Mobile plan carefully since this would be the benefit you’ll get as a result of switching to iD Mobile.
Read out all of the perks, prices and everything that is of interest.
Note: If you’re already subscribed, there’s a specific switch page for existing members.
Step #3 Include the PAC & Start the Switch
Whether you’re an existing subscriber that just wants a transfer or a new number, you’ll have to include the PAC during the switch.
The only way for iD Mobile to begin your transfer.
As we’ve already clarified where subscribers and newcomers have to go, it’s time to switch!
Not yet subscribed to iD Mobile:
- Choose your mobile plan and press “Next”.
- Fill out the Payment Info and Personal Details.
- Press the PAC field.
- Type down the PAC you saved earlier.
- Press “Complete Order”.
- Wait…
Already subscribed to iD Mobile:
- Go to the Existing Subscriber Switch Page.
- Press “Yes, I have the PAC”.
- Type down the PAC.
- Follow the rest of the instructions.
- Wait for authorisation.
I have stated that the mobile switch usually happens the next day, but that is based on the network’s traffic.
Usually, the most postponement you could get is 2-3 business days.
Note: If you’ve just subscribed to ID, you’ll soon be sent your SIM card with the benefits.
Method #2 Get a New iD Mobile Number
If you wish to receive a brand new mobile number hosted by iD Mobile, this is also possible!
Let’s learn how to get a new number when transferring to iD Mobile:
Step #1 Request a STAC
Unlike with the number transfer, we’ll be using the STAC now.
This is another code used for identification by your current provider and you must give it to iD Mobile in order to begin the transfer.
- To acquire a STAC, message 75075 using your old SIM. You’ll soon get a reply!
The reply from the 75075 number will contain your STAC, which you must save in order to give to iD Mobile later.
Note: The STAC is a 9-digit code that is used for signing you a new number.
Step #2 Send iD Mobile Your STAC
Once you’re in possession of the code, you’ll have two options:
- Choose your iD Mobile subscription plan here and fill out the STAC field
- If you’re already a member, alternate your existing number here
Based on whether you want to transfer to an ID with a mobile number or switch your current number (only if an ID member) is up to you and your situation.
Based on whether you’re a member or not, there are two scenarios for you, each explained thoroughly by iD Mobile.
Note: Once sent the STAC, you’ll be notified that the transfer has begun via email.
Step #3 Wait Out the Remote Activation
Once the transfer has been given a start, wait until the benefits of your number are activated.
As we’ve mentioned earlier, activation is stated by iD Mobile to take place in the upcoming day, but it could be postponed due to high trafficking.
Tip: If you’re already a member make sure that your SIM card is inserted into your mobile.
“I Don’t Yet Have an iD Mobile SIM”
If you’ve just subscribed to iD Mobile and completed the transfer to your old or new number, you’ll soon be sent a SIM card.
The details you’ve filled in while selecting a plan will be used by iD Mobile to send you your SIM card to the appointed address.
By the time you’re receiving the SIM card, your number will probably be already transferred and you’ll have all of the plan’s benefits ready on the go!
Note: You could give one of iD Mobile employees a call for any further questions!
Quick Recap:
Hence, to perform a number transfer on iD Mobile, get the PAC or STAC code and send it to iD Mobile, based on whether you’re already a member or not. If not yet a member, choose your plan, perform the payment and include the corresponding code.
