Does Starlink Work with Eero?
Yes, Eero can connect and work with Starlink equipment.
The Starlink Ethernet adapter connects the primary router and a third-party router, such as the primary Eero beacon.
Once connected to Starlink, Eero will be an extender for your home Wi-Fi network, which acts just like a mini router, to extend the wireless coverage through your home!
Benefits of Starlink x Eero!
Establishing a combined network using Starlink and Eero equipment has many perks and benefits.
If you have enough mesh nodes to place in each room of your household, you may even achieve the so-called “6G” or “Wherever Wi-Fi.”
“Wherever Wi-Fi” is achieved when the Wi-Fi speed is 100% in each room!
Starlink and Eero network combo offer some of the following perks and features:
You’ll need some external equipment, though!
Info: The best feature of the Starlink and Eero combination is the excellent Wi-Fi speeds!
Requirements for Eero On Starlink!
Here is a list of all of the equipment, cables, and devices you will need:
- A Starlink router device.
- A Starlink antenna device.
- A Primary Eero beacon.
- (Optional) Eero nodes.
- 2-3 Ethernet cables.
- Starlink antenna cable.
- Two power adapters.
Note: Once you have all the equipment in check, download and install the Starlink and Eero applications on your mobile device since you will need them for setup.
How to Connect Eero to Starlink – Complete Steps Guide!
Important: The steps must be followed in chronological order!
1. Setup the Eero Devices
The first step is to set up the Eero devices you will add to the Starlink configuration.
This is important because having multiple Eero devices and installing each individually with the Starlink equipment will be more time-consuming than you think.
The primary Eero beacon has two Ethernet ports on the back, while nodes don’t.
Steps for Eero Primary Beacon Initial Setup?
Follow these steps to set up the primary Eero device:
- Open the Eero app on your mobile device.
- Connect the primary Eero device to power.
- Next, press on “Add Device” from the page.
- Then, set the network name and password.
- Then, complete the remaining instructions.
How to Add Eero Wi-Fi Nodes?
Here’s how to add extra Eero devices to the already-created network:
- Open the Eero app on your mobile device.
- Press the blue plus button on the bottom.
- Press on “Add or Replace Eero Devices.”
- Pick “Add Eero Device” from the options.
- Follow the setup instructions for the node.
How to Position Eero Devices Properly?
Once the Eero network is created and all nodes are added and configured via the mobile application, the next step is to place the Eero devices.
The primary Eero device must be as close to the Starlink router as possible to connect with the adapter later.
Note: All connected nodes must be in a 50-meter radius from the primary Eero beacon!
2. Install the Starlink Ethernet Adapter
The next step is to install the Starlink Ethernet adapter and ensure it works.
The adapter allows the separate virtualization of an individual Eero LAN network alongside the Starlink equipment simply by connecting the devices to an Ethernet port.
Follow these instructions to install the Starlink Ethernet adapter:
- Unplug the Antenna cable from the Starlink router.
- Install two Ethernet cables into the Starlink adapter.
- Connect the antenna cable to the Ethernet adapter.
- Plug the Starlink router into one of the adapter’s ports.
- Connect the primary Eero beacon to the adapter’s port.
How to Manage Starlink/Eero Cables Correctly?
To ensure there will be no issues with the cable installation, verify that the Starlink Ethernet adapter is not loose.
Try to stretch the cables as much as possible to create a clean installation.
If you’re limited in Ethernet cable size, place the Eero and Starlink routers as close to one another as possible, so there will be no over-extended Ethernet cables.
Note: The Starlink Ethernet adapter must be at rest at all times!
3. Activate “Bypass” Mode on Starlink
To enhance the connectivity strength of external mesh systems that do not belong to Starlink’s equipment, activating the “Bypass” function in the Starlink app is best.
The “Bypass” mode is to deactivate the network hosted by the Starlink router!
Creating two different Wi-Fi networks under the same LAN is impossible!
Follow these instructions to activate “Bypass” mode through the Starlink app:
- Open the Starlink app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the “Settings” page from the top.
- Scroll down and locate the “Bypass” mode.
- Next, enter the tab and press “Activate”.
- After that, confirm that the mode is enabled.
- Save the changes and exit the Starlink app.
About the “Bypass” Starlink Mode!
The “Bypass” mode activates valuable features such as port forwarding for the Starlink network and all connected WAN devices.
You may notice significant increases in the loading time of the extended (Eero) Wi-Fi network, and the network throttles will also be reduced.
Note: If you cannot find the “Bypass” mode, check if the Starlink app is updated.
4. Test the Shared Network Performance
To connect Starlink with Eero securely, you must verify that the connection is strong and has no issues.
If the Eero node has successfully established a connection with the Starlink system, the Starlink app should display all connected nodes, even if they are third-party.
Here’s how to view the list of devices within the Starlink app:
- Open the Starlink app.
- Navigate to “Devices.”
- Inspect the readings.
Accessing the “Devices” page within the Starlink app will give you a chart of all connected units.
The Starlink router will be in the center, and the Starlink antenna will be above it.
So, all mesh devices will be beneath the Starlink router in the devices chart.
How to Test Starlink/Eero Network?
Simply open up your mobile device’s Wi-Fi settings and locate the Eero network’s name.
The Starlink and Eero networks are now combined, but the Wi-Fi goes under the name of the Eero network that you set up earlier within the application.
To test the connection, tap the Eero network and insert the password you’ve also established earlier.
Then, press “Connect” and wait for your mobile device to establish the connection.
How to Test Starlink/Eero Coverage?
“6G” or “Wi-Fi Wherever” is achieved with a strong mesh network and reliable internet service.
If you have multiple Eero devices installed throughout your house, you can achieve up to 100% Wi-Fi speed in each room.
All you need to test the Wi-Fi speed is to go to speedtest.net and run the test while standing in each room of your house.
Finally, compare the results to conclude.
Can Eero Connect Wirelessly to Starlink?
Unfortunately, the wireless connection is only available for the Starlink mesh nodes.
Installing a third-party mesh system with your Starlink equipment requires a hard-wired connection since the Starlink technology cannot detect Eero wirelessly.
Did Starlink Detect My Mesh Node?
A notification will occur within the Starlink app if you attempt to connect a compatible Wi-Fi mesh node wirelessly.
As soon as the Starlink mesh node is connected to power and has started to load, the Starlink system will detect the device as long the unit is close in range.
Quick Recap:
The answer to how to connect Eero to Starlink is to install the Starlink Ethernet adapter, allowing for an external LAN connection.
Next, plug the Eero beacon, Starlink router, and Starlink antenna into the Ethernet adapter and set up the devices through the mobile app.
