In case you’re wondering how to access Arris modem in bridge mode, you’re just in the right guide!
This tutorial will be the perfect guide if you’re unaware of how you can connect to the Arris modem while in bridge mode!
Regardless of the model of the Arris modem you’re using, you’ll find our guide easy, useful, and a lot convenient to work on.
If you’re trying to access your Arris modem’s GUI while in bridge mode, move your modem to a spot where there’s no device that can cause signal interference. Perform a power cycle of the modem, then configure the Ethernet card as static IP and modify the subnet gateways.
Before we get to that, do you even know what the bridge mode is?
What is Bridge Mode?
Bridge mode is a term in networking that refers to the disabling of the modem’s NAT function.
In simpler terms, it’s a setting that allows you to use your modem to bridge another modem/router within the vicinity for other devices to connect to it.
This is beneficial if you plan on extending the reach of the internet within the household or the working space.
That being said, what’s the importance of trying to connect to the Arris modem in bridge mode?
Why Connect to the Arris Modem in Bridge Mode?
Now that we know what the bridge mode is, let us now unravel the common reasons why you would want to access it while on bridge mode.
Some of the most common things you can do include:
- Modify or toggle settings between the connection of routers
- Disable wireless antennas
- Change the settings on one or more modems/gateways or routers
- Enable/disable firewalls
Accessing your Arris modem can help you a lot in terms of checking performance, as well as toggling a few settings.
But a lot of people find this difficult because while on bridge mode, your modem wouldn’t have an IP address.
But worry not, because, in this guide, we’ll be walking you through the steps on how you can do it!
How to Access Arris Modem in Bridge Mode – Steps
This tutorial will be unlike other guides you’ll see online. Why? – Because ours will be comprehensive and we won’t just tell you that a power cycle would be the solution for it.
Instead, we will go into extreme detail for you to be able to access the GUI of your modem while it’s in bridge mode!
Step #1: Find a Good Spot For Your Modem
It’s usually an uncommon step as a resolution, but doing this can help you get better performance from your modem.
When we say find a good spot, we don’t necessarily mean that you need to relocate it to a farther place.
The purpose of this step is to remove all magnetic electronic devices and appliances near your modem/gateway, which can actually reduce and decrease the performance of the device.
Step #2: Power Cycle/Restart the Modem
When the area is clear, restart or power cycle your modem or gateway. You can do this by following these simple and easy steps:
- Remove the AC cord from power. Don’t just press the power button.
- You can remove it from either the back of the device or the wall outlet.
- Wait for 15 to 20 seconds, then plug the cord back in again.
Don’t immediately attempt to access the modem right after it turns back on. Wait for the system to reinitialize fully before going onto the next step, which is…
Step #3: Configure Static IP of Your Laptop or Computer
The next step involves setting up the Ethernet card on your device as a static IP from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.1.
Here’s the summary of how you can configure this:
- Access Settings or Control Panel/System Preferences on your computer.
- Navigate to Network and Internet.
- Select the current network/connection you’re on.
- Locate IP Settings, and then find the button to Edit/Configure.
- Find the IPv4 toggle or option and then modify it.
Since your modem is in bridge mode, it would not really be assigned an IP to start with. This can be one of the things hindering you from connecting or accessing it.
By doing this, you are assigning an IP address to it even if it’s in bridge mode!
So, once you’re done, go to the next step, which is…
Step #4: Connect Ethernet Cable to LAN Ports
Connect and hook up the modem directly to the laptop or the PC using an Ethernet cable.
You need to do this after toggling the IPv4 option or the static IP part on the device you’ll be connecting it to.
This ensures that the connection is stable and that there wouldn’t be any interference in the gateway’s ability to connect.
Step #5: Access the GUI on a Browser
And finally, type in the admin configuration panel address or the IP of your gateway’s newly changed static IP into the browser’s address bar.
You should now be able to see a page asking you to log in. From here, you’d have to enter the username and password.
You’ll usually see these things on the label of the Arris gateway, so be sure to check it out.
NOTE: Look for the Wi-Fi Security Key on the sticker on the Arris modem. That’s the information you need to input to the admin configuration login page.
After you do this, you should be able to enter the Arris modems’ GUI on a browser even if the gateway is currently in bridge mode!
It’ll be difficult, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll know how to do it the next time you encounter this dilemma.
I Still Can’t Access the Arris Modem While in Bridge Mode, What Should I Do?
Should you still be unable to access the interface of your modem while being in bridge mode, exit bridging and perform a factory reset of the modem.
Here’s the process of turning bridge mode off on your Arris modem:
- On a browser, type in 192.168.100.1.
- Log into the admin configuration panel by typing in the Wi-Fi Security Key that can be seen on the device’s label.
- From there, hover your mouse to the Basic option, and then hit on Setup.
- The option of the category Gateway Mode shall be Routed.
- After that, click Apply.
- Once done, reload the page and navigate to Utilities (or Security) in some versions.
- Choose the option to do a factory reset.
- Confirm all pop-ups and prompts.
After doing this process, the modem should be fully reset and completed. It should revert back to gateway mode or like how it was when it was first taken out of the factory.
Should it still not work, don’t hesitate to contact the customer support team of Arris. They should be able to assist you in terms of accessing your gateway while it’s in bridge mode.
