Foxtel Go content not available and don’t know why? Wonder no more and continue reading!
Foxtel Go is an excellent way to stream your favourite content when you’re on the go, however, many people experience the “not available” error.
This error doesn’t say much on its own, but we can assume that the device can’t reach the servers and that’s why the content is not there.
To resolve the Foxtel Go “content not available” error, start by closing the app, restarting your devices and verifying a stable internet connection.

How to Fix When Foxtel Go Content Not Available?
The solution is easy, so let’s jump in!
1. Force-Reset Foxtel Go & Device
The first step is to force-close the Foxtel Go app and reboot your streaming device, which is a great way to refresh the system and resolve errors.
The “content not available” message probably appears because of a system glitch, primarily if the same content has worked before.
- To force-close the Foxtel Go, swipe up from the bottom.
- To reboot your Foxtel Go device, hold the Power button.
We recommend shutting down your device since a simple restart won’t do as well as a power cycle when your device completely powers off.
So, press the “Shutdown” or “Power off” option.
Pro Tip: Test whether all shows are unavailable on Foxtel Go or only content-related media!
2. Check Your Foxtel Go Package
When Foxtel Go content is currently not available, through the app or web browser, you must check exactly what content is unavailable.
Foxtel provides different plans; for example, sports channels will not be available if you have the “Movies HD” only plan.
So, let’s take a look at the available Foxtel plans and see which one is yours:
Foxtel Plan | Foxtel Plus + (Favourites) | Movies HD Only | Sports HD | Foxtel Premium | Platinum Plus |
Included: | Foxtel Plus FavouritesiQ5 | Foxtel PlusMoviesiQ5 | Foxtel PlusSportsiQ5 | Foxtel PlusSportsMoviesKidsiQ5 | Foxtel PlusSportsMoviesKidsFavouritesMultiscreen |
Cost: | 💰 | 💰 | 💰💰 | 💰💰💰 | 💰💰💰💰 |
Note: If you don’t have the channel package included in your Foxtel Go membership, then those channels will be unavailable.
3. Sign Out & In the Foxtel Profile
Let’s assume that the content on your Foxtel Go is unavailable because of a bug.
If you’ve just subscribed to Foxtel Go, you must sign out and then sign in to the Foxtel app or their website.
- To sign out, click the Cogwheel button next to the search and Sign Out.
Then, sign back in using your Foxtel ID and password or Foxtel Now credentials and test if the content is now available.
Verify that you’re using the correct account with a package containing the channels you want to view.
Tip: Try streaming multiple different channels!
4. Disable an Enabled VPN Service
Foxtel Go is only available in Australia, and only viewers from within the country can stream the content.
So, you’ll see Foxtel Go “content not available” when you’re abroad or if using an active VPN connection that scrambles the IP address, allowing you to connect from another location.
- If you are abroad and trying to stream Foxtel Go, use a VPN connection.
- If you’re trying to watch Foxtel Go in Australia, stop the VPN connection.
We recommend AtlasVPN if you want to overcome geological restrictions with Foxtel Go.
In contrast, if you want to disable your VPN, search the settings in the “Internet & Network” tab or uninstall apps named “VPN” in them.
Note: A VPN can also be an extension on your browser!
5. Optimise Your Device’s Internet
If you’re still seeing “content not available” on Foxtel Go, it’s time to verify that your device is connected to a reliable internet network.
Your attempt to view content on Foxtel Go might have been compromised by slow internet or fluctuating data, leading to an unavailable content error.
Here are a few ways to optimise your device’s internet connection:
- Toggle OFF/ON the Wi-Fi feature on your mobile.
- Unplug and reconnect the computer Ethernet link.
- Forget and reconnect to the Wi-Fi of your modem.
- Power cycle your network router by unplugging it.
- Switch from a Wi-Fi connection to 3G, 4G, or 5G.
- Test streaming Foxtel Go on a hardwired machine.
Pro Tip: Try streaming other applications like YouTube and Netflix to verify!
6. Update the Foxtel Go Application
The next step is to update the Foxtel Go app and ensure you’re using the latest firmware build.
Whether you’re using an Android or an iOS mobile, you can update the app by opening the app store Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS) and tapping the “UPDATE” button if available.
No update button means no updates, hence, continue with the next step!
7. Clear Foxtel Go app Cache Data
One of the most effective ways to deal with Foxtel Go application problems is to clear the app data, which often gets corrupted and starts causing problems.
The cache data contains your app configurations and saved login details, so you must sign back into the app after the steps.
Clear Cache on Android:
Here’s how to clear the Foxtel Go app cache data on any Android mobile:
- On your Android mobile, open the “Settings.”
- Press on the “Battery and Devices Care” tab.
- Go to “Memory” → “Apps not used recently.”
- Then, select the Foxtel app from the menu list.
- Next, press on the “Storage Within App info.”
- Tap on the “Clear Cache” button at the bottom.
Offload the App on iOS:
Here’s how to offload and reinstall the Foxtel Go app on any iOS mobile:
- From the main screen, go to the “Settings.”
- Go to “General” and tap “iPhone Storage.”
- Scroll down to find and select the Foxtel app.
- Tap on “Offload App” and confirm the step.

Info: On iOS, you can clear the cache, but you can offload the app, which uninstalls the app from your mobile, keeping all the settings intact.
Clear Cache on Windows:
Sometimes, content does not appear even when you stream online through a web browser due to data corruption or computer bugs.
If your Foxtel Go content is not available on Windows 10 or 11, it’s time to clear the browser’s cache data or switch to another one after a fresh installation.
Note: The steps below apply to the Google Chrome browser!
- Open the browser and click on the top-right menu.
- Hover your mouse over “History” and click “History.”
- From the right, select the“Clear Browsing Data” tab.
- Ensure to select “All Time” from the drop-down menu.
- Tick the “History,” “Cookies” and “Images & Files” boxes.
- Then, click the “Clear data” button at the very bottom.
Note: When you’re ready, reboot your Chrome browser and try streaming Foxtel Go!
8. Uninstall and Reinstall Foxtel Go
If nothing helps, and you still see “this content is currently not available Foxtel Go,” you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app from the mobile device.
If any app files are missing or data corruption affects the software, the content may remain indefinitely unavailable.
Uninstall and Reinstall Foxtel Go on Android:
- First, enter the “Settings” on the Android mobile.
- Then, go to “Applications” and locate Foxtel Go.
- From the app options, you must select “Uninstall.”
- Then, you can get the app back from Google Play.

- Locate the Foxtel Go app icon on the home screen.
- Then, tap and hold the icon until the options appear.
- From the options, select the “Remove This App” tile.
- Finally, you can get the app back from the App Store.
Reminder: You must sign in to your Foxtel Go account after the reinstallation!
9. Watch Foxtel Go via Mobile Data
A quick workaround to wrap up the “content not available” error on Foxtel Go would be to try streaming with a different internet connection.
The quickest way to do this is by turning off your Wi-Fi and enabling the mobile data or connecting a computer to your mobile personal hotspot.
- To enable Mobile data, go to Settings, and to create a mobile data Wi-Fi (hotspot), tap on Cellular Settings and go to Personal Hotspot.
If your Foxtel Go content works through a different internet, the problem is with the Wi-Fi or your current broadband.
Hence, if the content is still unavailable, contact Foxtel Customer Support.
Quick Recap:
Hence, when Foxtel Go content is not available, you’ll need to reboot your playout device, update the app firmware and clear the cache data.
Also, we recommend an optimisation of your device’s internet connection and performing a clean Foxtel Go app reinstallation.
